Things are making clear for the Davao del Norte Sangguniang Panlalawigan. There’s democracy at works in the legislative body as seen in the debates occurring in the session hall, whenever there are issues in need of contentious deliberations. There’s also particular vigilance that is a hallmark of the provincial board, as seen markedly whenever there are moments that need of collective rising up above from political considerations.

The cases of close scrutiny on budgetary matters rendered by the provincial board like its opposition to the Kapalong employees’ assertion on COLA (the Kulea case) that has reached the court whose judgment is yet to be rendered is proof of such profound vigilance, no matter what. Many other cases we monitored that the provincial board has minutely intruded, we dare say, onto technocracratic maze that for several counts it declared partial inoperativeness of the budgetary measures of municipal governments. Two sessions ago, it unmasked as but hollow the supposed particularity of Provincial Engineer Josie Jean Rabanoz when boardmembers having eye on details spotted an erroneous entry to Rabanos' project design leading her to admit it and offer an alibi of having committed a typographical error.

When last Monday the provincial board rose above imaginary divisiveness under the same and similar party or political affiliation of what else but the administration’s and mustered unanimity against an initiative from the executive, although we still don’t know at the moment on whether Governor Rodolfo del Rosario had been apprised of the letter of his administrator Rufo Peligro before it landed to august hall of the legislative body, the SP’s message to return the letter to the executive in what could be seen as procedural snafu ring a bell of the body’s timely independence.

The other day the SP joint committee of organizations and laws backed up by the consensus of the collegial body following a caucus rendered the inevitable- in thumbing down the legally infirmed Purok Ordinance, that has already become a water under the bridge in all of the SP’s body languages. In the plenary by Monday, the motion to send the doomed Purok Ordinance back to its point of origin is but mere formal compliance. Most urgent now that needs order and sanity in the perception of things and resolute simplification of the already blown-up measure is the final resting of the legally infirmed Purok Ordinance, so the puroks in the city could already start moving, working and serving the people as usual than be constantly immobilized biting their feet in a limbo not of their making. The SP has long been bound to deliver its collective verdict to strike down this particular measure of the city government that has become a driving wedge between the City Hall and the Capitol.

For the SP’s many defining moments of decisions, whether on question of fact or on question of law, the Davao del Norte legislative department has kept on empowering itself. It warded off assaults of unquestioning councils bringing untenable argument that as reviewing body it could not question the wisdom of an LGU project or of the proponent LGU citing a ministerial case.

For all this legislative excellence, under diversity in unity, while the SP has not sprung up filibusters who could turn the august hall into an arena between an irresistible force and an immovable object, which is unproductive, shows only that its members are rolling up their sleeves in the tough spadework of legislation. Trabaho lang, walang personalan. Alas, when boardmembers rise up in unison regardless of politics they only want not to be put into precarious, questionable situations later and only want to protect the honor and integrity of their own turf, their mandates and the whole institution they serve including those at the helm of leadership. All of these show only one thing and that is, it is doing its work, and hence ought to be rewarded with much respect and magnanimity. No problem in Lakas-Kampi unity of incumbents in Davnor

Davao del Norte Governor Rodolfo del Rosario (RDR) has hinted yesterday there would be no Floirendo after all who would be running against his planned reelection bid.

In a roundtable discussion with local mediamen after the opening activities of the local Press Freedom Week celebration yesterday, the governor is seeing that as things now stand there would generally be no problem and kink in the unification of the incumbent officials under the merged pro-administration Lakas-Kampi party in the choice of standard bearers based on the equity of the incumbent principle in the entire province.

He said that in the entire province the merger of the Lakas and Kampi proceeded without a hitch in Davao del Norte saying that the equity of the incumbent principle is favorable to the incumbents in the first place.

But he admitted that it is only in position to be vacated by the last-termer officials like the congressional post of District 1 Cong. Arrel Olano that is a potential source of trouble of the party as it is considered to be “open” for a crack to everybody in the party.

He opined likewise of the same to the post of outgoing last-termer District 1 Cong. Manuel “Way Kurat” Zamora in Compostela Valley, where Vice Gov. Ramil Gentugaya and Boardmember Maricar Zamora-Apsay are positioning for it.

He said that in the latter case in Compostela Valley “magkagubot gyud na” knowing that both aspirants are still second-termers in their respective positions.

Last week, the governor's son and former Vice Gov. Anthony del Rosario (AGR) has confirmed to run to Olano's post by 2010, while the governor himself declared to be seeking for reelection weeks ahead to AGR.

In same roundtable discussion, Gov. Del Rosario said that he hoped that Tagum City Mayor Rey Uy will stay with Lakas and not jump to the opposition “so there would be no trouble” in the political unification of the incumbent and reelectionist incumbent officials.

The mayor earlier welcomed the governor's over a million-worth project to the city, saying he is with Del Rosario, but former Gov. Gelacio "Yayong" Gementiza said he would be running against Uy the more if he is with Del Rosario also.

Moreover, RDR said that in cases of conflicts over the contested open position the party would settle it by narrowing the selection of the standard-bearer candidates first through a survey which would eliminate the “kulelats” and finally through a party convention.

He said though that party convention is “sure road to division” saying that ambitious contenders would still do the running and citing the case of then presidential candidate Fidel Ramos who still ran for President after losing in the party convention by Ramon Mitra.

He added the Lakas-Kampi merger has been smooth in all the provinces in Region XI and including Davao City unlike in other areas where the “merger is next to impossible” and it is not even talked about these days.

This developed as Saklak sources said that under the no RDR-Floirendo electoral skirmish, first-termer District 2 Cong. Anton would either given the opportunity to have his second term without the post being reclaimed by his uncle former Cong. Antonio “Tonyboy” Floirendo Jr., who would continue taking charge of the Floirendo's vast Tadeco and other businesses, or Cong. Anton will be vied for Panabo mayorship while while Tonyboy reclaims his old congressional seat.

Sources added that Panabo Mayor Jose Silvosa Sr. is presently being “junked” by the Floirendo and Lagdameo, who accordingly preferred to have Vice Mayor James Gamao in their company during public gatherings of the congressman like what had happened during the launching of Lagdameo's Barangayanihan TV program three weeks ago.

But there is also a prospect of former Mayor Rey Gavina coming for a comeback for mayorship in tandem with reelectionist Gamao, his brother in law, with the support of Floirendo and Lagdameo, sources said.

In the run up of 2007 polls, Floirendo claimed that Del Rosario had formed Kampi slates in two cities and all towns in District 2 of Davao del Norte which battled head-on with Floirendo’s Lakas bets.

Indy Lights Sidenote: This weekend is also the season finale for the Indy Lights championship. The close points race between AFS-AGR driver, Raphael Matos, and Sam Schmidt Motorsports's Richard Antinucci will come down to this weekend's final race. Matos leads Antinucci by just three points.

I was originally planning on heading to this weekend's race, but, due to a conflict in my academic schedule, cannot make the 12 hour drive to Joliet.

Last month, just before the Kentucky round of the Indy Car Series' schedule, Robin Miller reported Dan Wheldon would be replaced at TCGR  by Andretti-Green's Tony Kanaan. Kanaan reportedly saw something in Ganassi's contract and backed out at the last minute to re-sign with AGR. Unfortunately, for Dan Wheldon, Kanaan's backing out did not save his seat.

It was announced today that Dario Franchitti will take over Wheldon's seat for the entire '09 Indy Car campaign to partner Scott Dixon.

Wheldon will then make the jump to Panther Racing to takeover for Vitor Meira effective in Surfer's Paradise.

Meira's outlooks for '09 are, at this time, unkown. One can only hope Meira's pursuit of that elusive first win does not end this weekend in Chicago against his will.

Muerte en Clarín.

El jueves 31 de julio a las 11 de la mañana, en un portón de ingreso a la planta de Artes Graficas Rioplatense (AGR), uno de los mayores talleres gráficos de América Latina propiedad del grupo Clarín, se produjo un accidente fatal del que es responsable la empresa, en el que falleció nuestra compañera Joana Riboli.
Joana era una joven de 29 años que trabajaba tercerizada como nutricionista para el comedor de la planta, la muerte fue en su horario de trabajo y consecuencia de la más absoluta  negligencia de esta patronal que se caracteriza por mantener las condiciones de trabajo fuera del convenio y de la ley.
Quiso ingresar a la planta por un portón habilitado para el ingreso de camiones y peatones, el cual la aplasto al cerrarse. El servicio de ambulancias por el que los trabajadores hemos realizado reiterados reclamos en la fábrica tardo 35 minutos mientras la compañera agonizaba en el suelo.
Se trata de un portón que luego de la huelga del 2004 fue duplicado en su altura, y por lo tanto en su peso y fuerza. Sin embargo a pesar de circular diariamente por allí personal interno y externo a la empresa no tenia censor alguno que lo detuviera en caso de tener una persona en el medio y ni siquiera una chicharra que anunciara su cierre… un trampa mortal en la que cayó Joana.
La actitud patronal fue aberrante del principio al fin, al morir arrastraron su cuerpo para que pudieran seguir circulando los camiones llevando y trayendo mercadería, dejando una macabra marca de sangre que refleja el valor que tiene para la patronal la vida de los trabajadores.

Intentaron ocultar durante el turno mañana el terrible final de la compañera, lo cual ya no pudieron hacer con el de la tarde que inicio un paro de 24 horas, reclamando una ambulancia permanente en la planta, medico la 24 horas -incluyendo los fines de semana-, que se realice una urgente puesta a punto de las condiciones de seguridad en la fábrica y principalmente organizando luto por la compañera fallecida, luto que la patronal primero se negó a otorgar y luego a respetar. .

Con mas éxito lograron ocultar la información a la opinión publica, ya que como es conocido, entre los grande medios generan una especie de cerco mediático contra la difusión de cualquier conflicto o denuncia que involucre a uno de ellos, solo publicó una pequeña nota el matutino Crónica pero sin mencionar a quien pertenece la empresa AGR.

Durante el luto la patronal en reiteradas oportunidades intento que se volviera al trabajo interpelando a los compañeros con frases como "el mejor homenaje que le pueden hacer es trabajando" (gerente de producción) o "la vida continua" (Haurez, gerente de planta), esta presión permanente solo hizo mella en un pequeño sector del turno noche que en una actitud lamentable decidió prender algunas maquinas, pero la huelga se mantuvo firme hasta las 14 horas del día viernes, horario en el que se completaron las 24 horas, y el homenaje y el reclamo de los tres turnos en honor a la compañera.

Desde hace años, con la mas completa parálisis de la directiva sindical y la complicidad abierta del Ministerio de Trabajo, la negrera patronal de Clarín viola múltiples puntos del convenio en la fabrica, y se caracteriza por una violenta actitud antisindical. Así se han acumulado múltiples reclamos sin respuesta y han empeorado en forma global las condiciones laborales de la empresa (salario, libertad gremial, y por supuesto… las condiciones de seguridad e higiene).
La inseguridad laboral en definitiva es el resultado la intensificación de la explotación en la fábrica.

Ya contábamos en la planta con nefastos antecedentes: luego de años de reclamar médico las 24 horas solo se dignaron a poner un enfermero con horario limitado luego de que se produjera el electrocutamiento de un compañeros, en reiterados y graves accidentes el servicio de ambulancias a llegado a tardar hasta una hora, los ventiladores solo fueron recubiertos luego de que un trabajador sufriera un accidente en la mano, así como  seguramente ahora… pondrán censor y una chicharra en el portón.             Reclamamos una investigación a fondo de las responsabilidades, que paguen quienes tienen que pagar comenzando por el (i) responsable de seguridad e higiene de la fabrica y el gerente general, y que no pretendan conformar a la justicia haciéndole pagar al ultimo eslabón de la cadena.
Reclamamos contra la explotacion del grupo Clarín y sus nefastas consecuencias.

Yes, I truly believe that what Robin printed the other day was the truth as he knew it. Drivers, teams, owners, all use the media to fight their battles and force the issues and outcomes to suit their particular needs/desires. Robin is an easy "get" cause he just loves to play the role of the cat that swallowed the canary. Remember the defiant rants against Robin by Kalkhoven earlier this year... then the cheekily grinning Kalkhoven pretty much admitting later on Windtunnel that he had fed Robin the info...

So for all of those poo-pooing Robin for getting it wrong... You're wrong.

Ganassi has a knack for moves like this. Chip actively seeks out his main source of competition in the Indy Car paddock, and simply persuades them (usually with $) to his side. (Kenny Brack from Team Rahal in CART, Franchitti from AGR last year.)

Miller goes on to suggest AGR's ALMS driver, Franck Montagny, will take the reigns of Kanaan's Indy Car next year. I, on the other hand, don't buy it. AGR has Raphael Matos in their Indy Lights car. Matos won the Champ Car Atlantic Championship last year and is currently second in Indy Lights points, just one point behind championship leader, Richard Antinucci. The guy now has some experience on ovals and has proven himself worthy of a ride.

... Time will tell.

As for me, I will be heading to Kentucky shortly for the Meijer 300 at Kentucky Speedway. As always, I will be sure to post notes from around the paddock throughout the course of the weekend.

Again, I cannot apologize enough for the lack of postings of late. No internet access while touring the Southwest and an unbelievably hectic return schedule made it rather difficult. Hopefully things will calm down soon.

I am in Denver visiting some family. I was, however, able to see the Edmonton race yesterday. Here are a few of my thoughts on the only race north of the border this year.

AGR: What is going on within AGR? Danica had been holding up Marco and TK for quite a while until Marco dove to the inside of Danica and made contact with her left rear. Was it intentional? Kanaan is the team's best bet for a championship and, if Danica is hurting his chances, I could see Marco trying to redeem himself to TK following their incident at Indy. AGR hosted a closed door meeting following the race, according to Sports Illustrated's Bruce Martin. None of the drivers, or team owner, Michael Andretti, were willing to give much detail about the meeting. Conspiracy theories, anyone?

DIXON: Scott Dixon won again on Saturday. Putting him yet another step closer to locking up the championship. The Kiwi's season would have to take one hell of a plunge for any others to catch him. He seems to be nearly unstoppable.

Another man in red: Justin Wilson also needs to receive some praise for his excellent podium finish this weekend. A nice drive for the Brit.

Toronto and Edmonton?: Ya, sure, you betcha. The Indy Car teams better start taking a liking to that northern accent. The 2009 ICS schedule will indeed include Edmonton, as well as Toronto. Which, to anyone paying attention, should come as no surprise following Andretti-Green's purchase of the rights of the Toronto Grand Prix.

'09 Schedule: As for the '09 schedule itself, rumor has it that it could be released as soon as Wednesday. For some reason, I'm not buying that time estimate, though. Also, if you're still wondering about Road America; like I said when I released some of the rumors I had been hearing, don't hold your breath. I would love to see the 4.048-mile road course return, but I haven't heard a peep about it for a while now. Potentially 2010 or 2011. Here's to wishful thinking.

Tracy: If Paul Tracy's fourth place finish didn't draw any body's attention, I don't know what will. For this being a one-off ride, from a team that was assembled with something like 9 days before the event itself, it was an immaculate drive. He's a great publictiy asset, and (apparently) still driver with a lot of talent. Subway, keep sending a check to Derrick Walker so he can keep Paul fielded in an Indy Car.

As for me, it's back on the road. Leaving Denver for a few days of bumming around the southwest. If I run into any internet connections, I will make sure to keep everyone posted on the latest happenings around the Indy Car paddock. If not, I will talk to you all next weekend when I return.

I'm relegated to following live commentary today, so all I know is that the maillot jaune has passed to French cyclist, Feillu (AGR), and the stage won by Dumoulin (Cofidis), which should make their country proud and very happy. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the predictions for tomorrow's time trial place Millar, Evans, Kirchen and Valverde at the top of the list of contenders to capture the golden fleece.

Il tutto grazie a una web tv on demand più “social”, in grado di compattare le attività sulla Rete che gli italiani mediamente preferiscono: chattare e guardare video.

E' importante ricordare che, almeno sul piano della qualità visiva, si tratta di contenuti di eccellenza, in quanto attingono dall'intero catalogo di Msn Video, il canale gratuito di video del portale Msn. E per l'occasione Microsoft non si è lasciata sfuggire accordi con “diversi pezzi grossi” del mondo televisivo, arricchendo di molto il suo già vasto archivio di contenuti. Stiamo parlando di attori di primissimo piano come Mediaset, che metterà a disposizione i propri canali, Canale5, Rete 4 e Italia 1, o SonyBMG la quale offrirà i video musicali dei più famosi artisti della scena mondiale. Per non parlare poi dei contributi a livello informativo derivanti dalle le notizie di Ansa e Agr, i contenuti cinematografici di Coming Soon, le notizie sportive di Sportitalia e i video di altri partner eccellenti nelle diverse categorie come ad esempio Mtv nel campo musicale.

E proprio l'Amministratore delegato di Mtv South Europe, Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, esprime parole entusiastiche su questo recente affare: “L'accordo con Microsoft per MSN è un passo molto importante nella nostra strategia digitale. Andretti Green Promotions and Grand Prix Association of Toronto Agree to Extend Closing Date

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. ( May 1, 2008 ) - Andretti Green Promotions, LLC and Grand Prix Association of Toronto Corp (GPAT) have agreed to extend the closing date on the potential purchase of GPAT's assets until May 15, 2008.

The additional period is needed to allow both parties time to meet certain obligations related to the completion of purchase agreements.

The terms of the agreement will not be disclosed and neither party will be offering further comment.

So, that's a good sign! Extended deadlines means something positive is happening and that all hope is not lost. It could also tie in nicely timing wise with some "PT has a ride for Indy and beyond" media buzz... (no, I don't know anything, but am still keeping my fingers crossed for that too)

Of course my spidey senses are also tingling that perhaps unka Jerry (Forsythe, co-owner of race with Kalkhoven from what I understand) is one of the hold outs and therefore the hold up to this going through in a timely fashion. We've all seen how frustratingly stubborn he can be when he is in "if it's going to benefit the IRL then I don't wanna play" petulant child mode. Just ask Paul Tracy what it's like not to find out you're driving until late Thursday night of a race weekend... then possibly lose a year of your driving career as a thank you for your years of dedication... (*deep breath* not going to go there right now...)

Sobre esta definición, se puede decir que la libertad está construida en la idea conceptual de opción y de independencia. Bajo estos dos principios que estructuran la libertad se puede decir que en el mundo de hoy, la Libertad no existe como tal, no existe como fue planteada en 1789… corrijo, la libertad aun existe, pero está desapareciendo para nunca más volver, y no por que no quiera estar, sino por la estamos olvidando. Hemos olvidado la Libertad.

El mundo de hoy, al parecer, seguirá así, olvidando la libertad, si no toma conciencia. Si se sigue así obtendremos que nuestra libertad se esfume y nazca la “falsa libertad”[1]. Si un proceso inversamente proporcional, donde al tener menos conciencia tenemos más “falsa libertad”. Pero hay que ser justo, existen islotes de libertad en nuestro mundo, aún esta presente en las personas concientes que optan por su actuar. También debemos tener en cuenta que la conciencia que nos entrega libertad, cada vez que se debilita da pie al crecimiento de una “falsa conciencia” que nos envuelve en un falso mundo de libertad, donde este pretende darnos un mundo de opciones e independencia. El mundo actual se comporta a partir de esta falsa conciencia la cual genera una dependencia bizarra, la cual aparece cada vez más en nuestros tiempos, surge la dependería al dinero, a las falsas felicidades

En el mundo de hoy, o mejor, el hombre de hoy se encuentra esclavizado, se puede ver n nuestras vidas, donde dependemos del dinero, por ende somos esclavos de los medios de obtención de este, y a su vez terminamos esclavos del dinero y del mercado, pues son estas dos entidades quienes terminan dirigiendo nuestras acciones esclavistas. Trabajamos arduamente para obtener un objeto que no tiene valor en si mismo, peor aún, damos nuestro valor agregado (la creación-el trabajo) para obtener algo que no vale, para luego cambiarlo por objetos que “queremos”, o bien que creemos querer, pues es el Mercado quien nos “ofrece”, mentira nos exige comprar, engañándonos con una variedad aparente, donde quiere un producto el cual no puedes elegir pues necesitas más dinero porque sus valores son más alto de lo que costo tu trabajo. Lo terrible que lo compras, dirás opte por comprarlo, ¿pero realmente se opto? si, lo compras pero en cuotas, lo cual te convierte esclavo del mercado automáticamente, pues debes trabajar para el mercado, para luego pagarle al mercado un producto que uno hizo. Aquí se aplica la falsa conciencia, donde uno cree que es libre de elegir. Que uno compra el producto y opta por endeudarse, pero esto que significa, que al momento de realizar la acción, pierdes la libertad, porque se pierde la independencia, el “estado o condición del que no está prisionero o sujeto a otro” en este caso el Mercado.

Pienso que la Libertad está en saber optar y saber hacerse responsable de la opción, como Dios plantea con el libre albedrío, el poder optar. También considero que nuestro mundo nos encierra en un sistema de esclavitud y dependencia, el cual solo se puede liberar por medio de la conciencia y la fe que Dios nos da. También creo que nuestro entorno social limita nuestra libertad plena, por medio de patrones y condicionamientos socioculturales, pero esta en nuestro ser, gracias a la voluntad de Dios, de tomar conciencia de nuestro entorno y romper los moldes que limitan al ser humano en la construcción de la voluntad de Dios.

La libertad se construye a partir de la conciencia, una libertad que lleva a la felicidad que Dios nos propone, ser libres para ser felices. Esto me recuerda la frase “Mi libertad termina donde comienza la libertad del otro”, yo creo que no, “Mi libertad es infinita y plena que inicia y se complementa gracias a la libertad del otro, para un bienestar personal y social”

La moral cristiana nos ayuda a enfrentar el mundo actual, entregando herramientas se comportamiento comunitario para un mejor vivir, concientes y en la fe que Dios nos da.

Ri5 - UK’s Graduate Recruitment Challenge

He addressed the issue of Generation Y directly and warned of the forthcoming decline of the youth market, which will further exacerbate the ‘war for talent’. Recruiters will face increasing competition for the same pool of graduates if they do not diversify and open themselves to talent from other sources.  As mentioned by Gilleard, this could include looking internationally, beyond 2:1 or beyond 'gen-y'.

The first session of the Exploding Myths conference will be devoted to this issue, and in tackling the myth that "Employers must adapt their graduate recruitment practices to accommodate the needs of Generation Y" we will explore the options for discovering talent beyond this small cohort of graduates.
