And maybe the universe is trying to make it up to me, because my dedication paid off, and one of the earlier series I read by Tanya Huff was turned into a show for Lifetime, called Blood Ties.

Sadly, it was canceled after a year, much like Moonlight. But you can still check out episodes online, and I encourage you to do so. The writing is pretty good, the cast is super hot, especially Christina Cox, who pretty much nails Vicki's tough/vulnerable attitude, and the show's concept is classic. Vicki is an (unwillingly) retired cop, who becomes a PI, and ends up having to consult with vampire/comic book writer Henry when she stumbles onto a case with deaths she can't really explain. Mix in her ex-partner, Mike Celluci, and you have the golden love triangle plus supernatural mystery combo.

But sadly, the series is no more. However, there's news on the horizon that's doing a pretty good job of cheering me up.

Because HBO is picking up the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris and turning it into a series called True Blood. And Alan Ball, who you might remember from Six Feet Under, is heading the project. And if that is not enough for you, and you are a greedy person, full of greed - you're in luck, because they're getting the fabulous Anna Paquin to star.

If you're not familiar with the series, it's about a normal, everyday (except for the part where she's a mind reader) waitress who lives in a world one step removed from ours, where vampires have "come out of the coffin," and become not-to-well integrated parts of society. The novel series has suspense, romance, and humor, and I have every expectation that it's going to really shine on HBO this Fall.

Guys, I'm not going to say this ever again, but put down those books and turn on your TV, cause this series is going to be funny, hot, fabulously scripted and gorgeously cast.

Hello, people out there in blogland! Hey, my new book is out, you should buy it! Not to be pushy or anything, but I do have a kid who’ll need college tuition some day. :)

Another really good reason to pick it up is that Blood Ties Book Four: All Souls' Night wraps up the Blood Ties series completely.

Okay, maybe not completely. I do have a couple more ideas up my sleeve for Carrie, Nathan and the gang, but for right now, this is the end of the series. It’s the final showdown between good and evil, and it’s time for all of the characters to reconcile themselves to the fact that they’re really, pitifully outnumbered.

It’s also time for some old friends to return, and a new one to be introduced. And of course, there is gore. Much gore. I don’t like to brag or spoil anything for anyone, but zombies. Being attacked by werewolves. That statement alone can sell the book better than anything else I can say.

So, if you’re in the market for some thrilling action and you’ve already gone to see Iron Man this summer, then I think you have no choice but to check out Blood Ties Book Four: All Souls' Night. If you haven’t read any of my other fine offerings in the Blood Ties series, such as Blood Ties Book One: The Turning, Blood Ties Book Two: Possession or Blood Ties Book Three: Ashes To Ashes, you’ll probably want to read those first, so you’ll know what’s going on in Book Four. And also, that college tuition thing I mentioned earlier.

It sounds to me as if Kyle is moving on from Blood Ties, which also tells me our fight to get the show back is over. As much as I hate to admit it, I think I'm ready to move on myself. I am still actively involved in BT stuff online, like the Bite Back Podcast, but the fight to get BT back? I'm ready to say "enough." I'm tired. At least the actors and others behind BT have expressed their appreciation for what we fans have tried to do. Not only Kyle's comment, but both Dylan Neal and Peter Mohan have thanked us as well.

Let me start by saying how awesome your efforts have been in trying to keep BT alive. Blood Ties fans are definitely the most loyal I have encountered.

Hey everyone, yes I've been neglecting my blog but I have good reason.  I've been out of town for most of the past 3 weeks - work, wedding to attend in Toronto ...  I'm just so glad to be at home, in my own bed this weekend.  Now, if the AC can keep working this weekend (it had to be shut off last night because there was a burst pipe in the cooling system in our building!) I can actually hide out from this ridiculous humid heat.  If this is any indication of the kind of weather we're going to have this summer (and they are predicting a hot one) it is going to be a very long summer.  But I digress.

The Variety Ad Committee is pleased to announce that the Blood Ties Ads are ready to go!

Greeting to All Blood Ties Fans:

This is an official announcement on behalf of the Variety Ad Committee.

We are elated to be able to make this announcement to all Blood Ties Fans.  We did it! The ads will officially begin running on Variety.com for five consecutive days, with the launch beginning on June 9 and continuing until June 15.

While we realize that Blood Ties was a television production, we were advised that in order to reach the DPT in the biz....these were the best fit options for maximum exposure. We are very excited and sincerely hope that everyone enjoys the ads.  Let's all keep our fingers crossed that the ads can work a “Bit of Magic” for the actors and the show.
