Since the 4th of July, a group has been gathering fans to sign on online petition to get rid of that jacket.  Here's part of what you will find written out on their website:

Currently his stage outfit for his solo songs is not complimentary to his stage persona. It is limiting and we request that it be changed to something more "on trend" with his musical style and skill.

Points to note:
1) Black/dark Grey is hard to photograph limiting the beauty of photographs.
2) The Jacket is not "age appropriate"
3) The Jacket looks like it should be on a 50 year old man on a cruise ship
4) The black undershirt does not match the balance of the outfit
5) The Pants do not fit. They "hang" wrong and make a sloppy impression.

Their latest mission?  WHO is David's music video CRUSH.

When an article hit the streets yesterday about who were signed on to appear in the music video with David, a very sweet and kind model named Abbey Jayne was hounded down ...bad!  If she had a MySpace page, they were on it like waffle syrup on pancakes!

Uh, oh!  Now FaceBook? 3,2,1, ..BINGO!  Someone got a hold of her, and it quickly became known that she wasn't chosen to play the LEAD role, after all:

 Apparently Abbey was skipped over for the Lead role in the final decision.

Abbey answered:

"hi thank you! well funny that you say that because i was casted for the lead, but they decided to go with a blonde :( . but i was still one of the friends. she's adorable though and she did a great job."

The very latest word is that a 15 year old actress named Hagood Coxe, played David's lead girl in CRUSH in the filming that already took place:

We remind you, that no official word or official press release has been provided to confirm any of this.  But keep it here and leave it up to the fanatic fans.  THEY WILL FIND OUT FOR SURE!

...so until that official press release ...the LEAD girl will remain a mystery? ...it might even be Miley Cyrus?! ...hmm let's not go there ...right? ...young ladies?

The numbers and in, and the Jonas Brothers had some strong sales this week.  Around 525,000 copies of A Little Bit Longer were sold in the United States.  While impressive, the numbers are well below the expected 700,000 sales.  525,000 copies puts the Jonas Brothers in third place for first week sales this year, behind Lil Wayne's The Carter III (who still listens to rap? for serious guys, what is going on?) at just over 1,000,000 sales and Coldplay's Viva La Vida with around 720,000 copies sold.

Jonas Brothers numbers aren't the only thing to roll in today.  "Crush" has finally been knocked out of #1 on iTunes, currently behind "Whatever You Like" by T.I. and "Disturbia" by Rihanna.  I have a feeling it will move back up to #2 tomorrow or the next day--hiphop and rap tend not to last in the top 10 very long.

i wanted him to win american idol. im not a fangirl (not like my DBSK fangirling XD), just someone who was rooting for him. i thought his vocal range was impressive for his age. which is why i was somewhat dissapointed when i heard this song today.

it's a typical teen pop love song. TYPICAL. nothing special. its not a bad song, but its not exceptionally good either. the chorus part where he sings "away" gets to be a little bit repetative at times. and lets face it- it can get a bit annoying when Z100 plays it over and OVER. i'm just saying. but before you think i'm bashing the poor boys first single lets me point out some of the things the song has going for it.

its soulful. His voice is nice and kind of deep in the begninng. i was somewhat reminded of ne-yo. idk why. and the bridge leading into the chorus is a nice melody. also, if you look at the lyrics, i think it expresses alot about a crush. you dont know if its a crush or if its love until its over. take it from someone who's been there- its confusing. my favorite line was probaly this one:

"am i crazy or falling in love? "

how true. and to be honest i can't answer.

i give this song 4 out of 5 stars.  it's something i recommend listening to, but not on constant repeat. you'll probably get sick of the beat.

Filmmakers were set up once again at picturesque Wynn's Pond in Coweta County Tuesday shooting scenes for an upcoming release: the first music video from "American Idol" season seven runner-up David Archuleta.

On site all day for the shoot were Blackdog Films production crew members, the young video cast -- some plucked from talent and modeling agencies in neighboring counties -- excited mothers and, of course, Archuleta himself.

The group was also excited about a crew coming from "Entertainment Tonight" to tape a segment Tuesday for the entertainment news show.

Archuleta, the 17-year-old pop/soul/R & B singer from Murray, Utah -- whose debut single, "Crush," was made available on iTunes Aug. 12 -- was on location at Wynn's Pond to film the video about a group of friends getting together at a lake house before going off to school, according to casting director Kay Clark.

(Abbey Jayne Moody, 16, is rumored to play David's CRUSH in the video, no confirmation yet.  But please be courteous when making comments, there are no kissing scenes being reported to FanBlast!)

Among the video cast members selected by Clark at the filming site Tuesday were Abbey Jayne Moody, 16, from Huntsville, Ala.; Garret Pennington, 19, from Fayetteville; Tyler Parks, 19, from Atlanta; Christine Ko, 20, from Atlanta; and Tricia Carrabba, 21, from NJ.

Archuleta was already in Georgia for his performance in the "American Idols Tour" Monday night at the Gwinnett Center.

In a blog posted Sunday on Archuleta's MySpace Music site, he wrote: "We'll also be shooting the music video for 'Crush!' Which I'm nervous but excited about."

In May 2008, Archuleta became the runner-up on the seventh season of "American Idol," receiving 44 percent of more than 97 million votes. He then signed a recording contract with Jive Records in June, according to postings on Wikipedia. It is rumored an album is scheduled for release in late 2008, following the "American Idols Tour." On Aug. 4, Archuleta was a presenter with "American Idol" winner David Cook at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, where he won the Teen Choice surfboard for "Most Fanatic Fans."

Also featured in the movie "Sweet Home Alabama" -- a comedy/romance released in 2002 starring Reese Witherspoon -- scenic Wynn's Pond is located off Fischer Road in eastern Coweta County near Peachtree City.

Guys, you can mark this one as confirmed. That is definitely Abbey. I was at the casting in Atlanta and saw her there. Whether or not she is the lead, I guess we don’t know that 100% but since she is listed first and they give her full name that seems likely to me. It was kinda funny because I thought she was one of the best looking girls at the casting for the lead. She was about David’s height and looked around his age to me so she seemed like a good choice.

-but really, i find this song really cute it makes me giggle.but the problem is, i dont have anyone specific on my mind to give this song to.seems like i dont have a lovelife nor a crush.tsktsk.too bad.

I set out on my daily walk armed with a plastic bag determined to pick up as much trash as it would hold.

Outside of a few plastic water bottles, an empty pack of smokes and a sad deflated balloon (I hope to God it was a balloon), everything else was emblazoned with a Tim Hortons logo. There were 10 coffee cups in all, three iced cappuccino cups and innumerable straws and lids.

Once my bag was full, I headed for the new trash bin that’s been installed in the park I pass on the way home. A recycling receptacle sat beside it.

I was tempted to throw the whole thing in but stopped, realizing I was only halfway home. So I merely emptied the bag and kept up my Tim Hortons collection service all the way home.

If it wasn’t prohibited by the good-deed code, I’d hit them up for a free coffee....

P.S. On a completely random note: I thought this was a cute pic of the two Davids trying to tune in the Olympics.

Usually, the “Idols” get to meet and greet fans outside at around 2 p.m. but today, because of the “Larry King Live” shoot, they couldn’t do it, leaving disappointed fans to hang outside (the Gwinnett Arena).

Larry King wanted to tape an interview with the 10 Idols so CNN ended up taping it today at Gwinnett Arena. That kind of threw off the standard Q&A interview portion but I got to take some shots of them during the interview below and got to finally meet the two former Atlantans Carly Smithson and Michael Johns. The “Larry King Live” is set to air Friday.

One random observation about Archuleta I got from Johns. Archuleta eats constantly, usually healthy stuff, but he eats a lot. I saw him grabbing a few corn dog bites from the MarquisJet NetJets food spread. Ah… the advantages of youth!

Hi all. Today we’re in North Carolina, and I’m about to go outside since we have free time right now. So just wants to give an update on done stuff. Friday we had a day off, so I went to New York for a photoshoot for the album! It was a lot of fun even though I was dead tired from the lack of sleep haha. But I’m caught up on that now. The photographer was great! He also had really good taste in music, which he played during the shoot. I can’t wait to see the final shots.This upcoming week my family will be coming out to see the show, and it’ll be awesome to see them. We’ll also be shooting the music video for ‘Crush’! Which I’m nervous but excited about haha. Anyway I better get outside to say hey to who’s out there. That’s all for now!

We have a slight change in the forecast this afternoon as Tropical Storm Fay is expected to be a Category 1 Hurricane by the time she hits Florida.  Earlier reports indicated a much more powerful Category 3.  But still, Fay is on a path that would bring her pretty close to Tampa, two days before the IDOLS concert at The St. Pete Times Forum.

(The latest models show Fay making landfall near Tampa on Tuesday; the Idols are off that day.  They are scheduled for a concert near Miami on Wednesday and then travel to Tampa to perform on Thursday)

FanBlast received a few emails from fans eager to hear of what promoters might have planned for David, the idols, and the ticket-holders should things got a little scary out there.

No word from concert officials but they were prepared well in advance for a situation like this with a backup plan just in case.  The safety and well being for the Idols and ticket holder have always been a policy kept in the highest regard.

We'll stay on top of this and keep you posted.  Let's all keep positive.

I'm am totally obsessed with this song right now!!! "Crush" is David Archuleta's first single off his upcoming debut album. When i first heard it, i didn't think much about it, but after a few times it really started to grow on me. The best part is: it's not those soppy ballads he's notoriously good at, but something more upbeat!!!Only proving that he CAN sing different types of songs...I just love his voice, never fails to calm me down after listening to his version of 'Angels".

"Nice and Clean" David Archuleta

"Crush", released 2 weeks ago on 1 Aug 2008, has been making the rounds on the radio and we are reminded yet again this baby-faced, immensely humble, but highly talented David Archuleta. We confessed that the crew here at UberUberMinx rooted for him during the previous season of American Idol but we had our reservation on his potential success. Don't get us wrong, he sings great but in terms of image, he needs quite a huge "makeover". David is just too nice-looking but he needs adopt a more mature and rugged look in order to move the hearts of the older 19-20 yrs old audience. We guess that was the reason why David Cook won by such a huge margin. Ok, we shall not be overly critical, but we hope for a change in image just like what they did for Jesse McCartney. Meanwhile, check out the song below with the YouTube video. We will post the official music video once it is released.

Earlier this week, I was "crushed". Why? While watching Idol this year, I never liked David Archuleta. I did not find his voice appealing, I did not think he had much personality, and I did not like that he lasted longer than Brooke White and Kristy Lee Cook. But Tuesday, his first post-Idol single was released on iTunes. I wanted so much for it to be terrible. I even told myself it was horrendous the first time I heard it.

But now I'm in love.

No wonder he's still holding the number one song spot on iTunes. Taylor Swift's 08/08/08 Olympic release, "Change"--an amazing song--never managed to reach the number one spot. She spent a day or so with number two, but Archie's been number one since Tuesday.

Archuleta wasn't the only Idol alumni releasing a single this week on iTunes. Kristy Lee Cook--one of my personal favorites--released a catchy country pop bit on Tuesday, "15 Minutes of Shame". Don't expect to be blown away by meaningful lyrics. Dolly Parton clearly didn't write this one. It hasn't surfaced on the iTunes top songs list, which amazes me. The song isn't too deep, but still, it's fun. Check her out on iTunes today! Definitely a must have for any country pop fan.

"Crush" is the debut single by David Archuleta, American Idol seventh season runner-up. The track was written by Jess Cates, Dave Hodges, and Emanuel Kiriakou. The song debuted August 1, 2008 on New York City radio station Z100, and was leaked later that day.
A digital download of the song became available on August 12, 2008.
"Crush" has been met with positive reviews by many critics. Chuck Taylor of Billboard praised it for being a suitable match for Archuleta, citing it as a "hummable, age-appropriate midtempo pop ditty for the 17-year-old, showcasing his fine mass-appeal vocal stylings with creamy harmonies and some nice falsetto effects." He also predicted chart success for the song, saying "'Crush' is likely to put its money where its title is on the charts."
Michael Slezak of Entertainment Weekly called the song "surprisingly good!", as well as "hip and contemporary." He stated, "David adroitly walks the line between giving his core fans their fill of vocal runs while showing enough restraint that he won't automatically alienate non-Idol-loving listeners.
Blender Magazine, despite not liking Archuleta during his time on American Idol, also praised the song, giving it three and a half out of five stars and claiming to have "just listened to the thing six times in a row and we're not terribly angry about spin seven." They also liked that the song seemed perfectly crafted for radio, saying, "Songs like "Crush" are great because they sound as if the radio immaculately conceived them.
Ken Barnes of USA Today liked the "effortless glides into falsetto and some rousing moments in the bridge and chorus", but also said it "tends to plod", and "could become pretty tedious with repetition.
After just one day of airplay, "Crush" was able to debut at #93 on the Billboard Pop 100 and #57 on Pop 100 Airplay. The song is also currently one of the most added tracks at Mainstream CHR radio stations.
Following the song's digital release onto the U.S. iTunes store on August 12, 2008, the song rose to the #1 spot on iTunes in less than 24 hours, dethroning Rihanna's "Disturbia." It is also Archuleta's first song to reach the top spot on iTunes. "Crush" debuted on the Canadian iTunes store at #2.

ABOUT DAVID: David James Archuleta (born December 28, 1990) is an American singer. In May 2008, he became the runner-up on the seventh season of American Idol receiving 44 percent of over 97 million votes. Archuleta's first single "Crush" was released on August 1 2008.
David Archuleta was born in Miami, Florida, to Jeff Archuleta and Lupe Marie, a salsa singer and dancer from Honduras. Archuleta has four siblings. Archuleta's family moved to the Salt Lake Valley, to the city of Sandy, Utah, when Archuleta was six. He currently lives in Murray, Utah, where he is a student at Murray High School.
Archuleta started singing at age six, inspired by a Les Misérables video. "That musical is what started all of this," he said. He started performing publicly at age 10 when he participated in the Utah Talent Competition singing "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton; he received a standing ovation and won the Child Division.
Archuleta was inspired by watching both Tamyra Gray and Kelly Clarkson to "see what performing and really getting into a song was like" during the beginning weeks of the premiere season of American Idol. He later made his television debut, at eleven years old, singing "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" on a Jenny Jones show for future Latino stars alongside season one finalist A.J. Gil. Through A.J. Gil he was able to meet and sing for Gray who had sung the song on American Idol as well as Clarkson (that year's winner) and Justin Guarini (the runner up).
