Z całego filmiku, który szczerze mówiąc pokazuje niewiele, najbardziej podoba mi się ciekawy sposób poruszania się głównej bohaterki. Teraz pozostaje czekać na gameplaye pokazujące jakieś sceny walki by przekonać się czy Bayonneta rzeczywiście będzie pure !

Devil May Cry is the latest installment in the Devil May Cry franchise, and features a new protagonist, Nero.

Devil May Cry 4...I've heard the rumours that DMC3 was very hard, but I can tell you that this game is a lot more comfortable. It's also one of those games I really can't find the correct words to describe. It's an awesome game, but it still has its flaws. That's the short review, here comes the longer one.

So, please bear in mind that this is the first DMC game I have fully played, so I don't know of any improvements from older games. Anyways, after many beautiful cinematics you start of as Nero, fighting someone with a lot of resembelence to Dante. You who are used to playing Dante from the older DMC games might notice that this boyo has a different aresnal of weapons then him, but he has a sword called Red Queen which he can 'accelerate', giving it the possibility to charge up and do some devastating attacks. He also has this double-barrel revolver called Blue Rose which is "capable to fire two bullets almost simultaneously". Now all of this can be can be compared to the Rebellion and Ebony and Ivory, but then along comes Nero's Devil Bringer. His right arm is a large demonic arm, which can be used to beat enemies into oblivion, or can be upgraded to eject, and grab a demon which it brings back to you. It can also be used to make powerful Buster moves, which sometimes can be quite simple against normal foes, but practically devastating towards bosses.

The gameplay, the gameplay..It's still that quick, cinematic battles which we have fallen in love with in Devil May Cry, and I really can't see anything bad with it. The only personal annoyance I can find with the game is it's unability to block enemy attacks (The only way out is to dodge them), so if you're used to blocking attacks and being able to stand still with just pressing one button, be ready to change your way of gaming. Now, one thing that might be a bit saddening about this game is that it can be slightly linear. When you reach about halfway of the game, I felt it as if the game almost started over, only this time you were playing it backwards. Yeah, you play through every level in the game again, only backwards. Now, I saw this as a bit saddening, as even the bosses were the same. But, the fighting and the game itself is very, very enjoying, so the majority of the game could've been just a gray room and Dante slicing demons and I would've found it enjoying.

There is not too much to say about the graphics. They're beautiful, the whole game runs very smooth and the cinematics are just spectacular. The only thing I've noticed is that it looks a bit weird when someone gets their chest penetrated by a sword, and there's not even a mark on the clothing. Okay, they might be demons and there is no visisble wound, but correct me if I'm wrong, is there clothing that could withstand a blade being thrust at 70 mp/h straight into it and it would hold? Not even Gore-tex.

Now the items in the game are something that you will most probably recognize from earlier games. You have your currency, the red orbs, which is collected from enemies and bosses in the game. You also have the green orbs, which replenish your health. You have the blue orbs, and the blue orb fragments, which permanently increases your maximum health. You also have the purple orbs which increase your total magic, the silver orbs which replenish your magic and the gold orbs which will ressurect you if you die. Items can also be bought from the shop with your red orbs, and in there you can finds different coloured "stars" which will either replenish your health or your magic, depending on the colour. Now, the biggest change with items from the previous games is that you no longer buy your character skills from the shop with red orbs. You buy them with Proud Souls, which you gain after every misson depending on how well you have finished the mission.

Yeah, as before, you get a rating from completing every mission, influenced by how long you took to complete the mission, how many stylish points you recieved and how many orbs you found. The worst rank is D. After that it can raise up to C, B, A and finally S-ranking. The same with the in-game combos, only there you can raise the rank above S. Deadly, Carnage, Brutal, Atomic, Smokin', Smokin' Style and Smokin' Sick Style.

Now to add in with all this, you have quite challenging achievements (But it also gives inspiration for several replays of the game), a possibility to upload your scores on each level online so that you can compare your awesomeness with other players and unlockable game modes (Such as survival). All in all, Devil May Cry 4 is an awesome game, and if it weren't as repetetive, it could have easily gotten a higher score. But, either if you're a fan of the DMC franchise, or just a newbie to the series and just want some insane hack and slash, you will find what you seek in Devil May Cry 4.

About the Game Play

The game play is about the same as the previous DMC series. Only difference is that you have more puzzles to solve. They aren't very hard to solve or to achieve -- just plain annoying.

At the end of every mission (stages), you'll be ranked according to your timing, stylish points, collection of orbs and the usage of items.

Unlike DMC3 and the other series, DMC4 is RICH with orbs. It's freaking dirt cheap. ↓

And using Nero, you can detect hidden missions, orbs and items thanks to his power-crazy arm.

Just when you thought "Great! Now I can increase my character's skill!" -- you're wrong.

Upgrading abilities and skills no longer can be paid through Red orbs. You have to earn Proud Souls by performing a chain of combos.

As usual, your combos are graded from the lowest (Deadly) to the highest rank (Smokin' Sick Style).

Overall, the game play is similar to the previous games however, the one major improvement about DMC4 is that when you die, you don't have to start the whole mission all over again. You'll go back to the checkpoint, which is the Golden Imp.

(Though I personally call it the "Scam shop") Yes, the cost of items keeps increasing whenever you purchase something. But since the game is generous with Red Orbs... No more poverty concerns. Focus on getting more Proud Souls!

About the Playable Characters

You'll be using Nero from Mission1 - 11. After that, you have to use Dante to rescue Nero from Mission 12 - 18.

You will play as Nero again for Mission 19 and finally, Mission 20.

Nero's Abilities:

You're equipped with Red Rose and Blue Rose. As for special moves, you can use his spastic right arm Devil Bringer to grab your enemies from afar and perform some combos.

For instance, you can slam dunk or toss the enemy around like a cheap toy.

You can perform different moves on different types of enemies. You can also use it on the boss at a certain timing. [Usually when the boss is constipating on the ground, you can then grab that son of a B (or whore) and beat the crap out of him(her)]

This will damage the boss by A LOT.

Apart from that, you have a function called Exceed. You'll have to charge the sword and once full, your attacks will flame up. You can upgrade this function with Proud Souls to be more deadly.

Last but not least, Nero can do the Devil Trigger with the help of Yamato. However the disappointment in this is that you can't really use Yamato as how you used it in DMC3.

Basically, you can only use Yamato when your Devil Trigger is on. If that's not worse enough, a creepy ghost appears behind you and he is the one using Yamato while you're still armed with Red Queen.

The damage will be doubled but --- that's not the point. If you're a fan of Vergil and you are an expert in using the Yamato, this is bullshit news for you. (Cries)

Stupid CAPCOM.

Dante's Abilities:

Superb! You can use 4 of his styles -- without visiting the scam shop just to make a switch! Trickster, Sword Master, Royal Guard and Gun Slinger -- Do it whenever or wherever you like!

With that you can perform various combo and melee attacks. What more? As Dante, you get new Devil Arms!

Unlike Nero who can only battle with Red Queen and Blue Rose through out the missions, Dante has a wide range of weapons. Although not as many new weapons and styles as before... <u_u,>

Speaking of styles, they do not automatically level up as they do in DMC3. You are required to upgrade them using Proud Souls.

In mission 17, you get to use Dark Slayer and Yamato. However, not in the way as it used to be. <_  _>lll

Story Line

Frankly, I don't like the story plot at all. So I'm going to cut all the hype and long story short. Plus, I'm going to speak out of my modest league.

Because it's more of a goose chase. First of all, Nero is --not much of a character and has no personality other than screaming and constantly piss off. He is arrogant, stylish and cocky -- then again, everyone in DMC IS arrogant, cocky and smokin' with style. Nothing else separates him other than his youthful and good looks. (Duh! With the help of PS3 technology and graphic performance!)

Anyway, basically these 3 ass clowns want to create a Savior to battle of Demons. They embedded themselves with Devil arms, modifying themselves and their followers to be half-demons so that they could have power.

Dante was assigned by Lady to end these clowns' circus performances and while he was doing his job, Nero fought on these clowns side to later discovered their world domination motive.

Nero got even more pissed when Agnus and Sanctus held Kyrie as hostage. (Credo was just as pissed but he died)

And after they stopped the completion of the Savior (a giant rock dude), Kyrie and Nero was about to kiss but was interrupted by the demons.. Strange, how come there was no mention of Credo's death to Kyrie? <.___.>{?]

Moving on, in the credits roll -- in order to get an epilogue ending, you must defend and protect Kyrie within a time limit.

The first time I played this part, I didn't know I was suppose to protect her despite her obvious cry for help.

With that said -- Don't make the same mistake as me.

* Sanctus is very irritating. He keeps saying, "THE SAVIOR IS COMING~~!!!". Really, all the more you want to abuse this geezer.

Other Characters

Gloria first appears in front of the Fortuna Castle.

She fights using acrobat moves and ---

She doesn't look like she's wearing any panties.

Too bad -- She has no battle air-time.

Same goes for Lady, who is suddenly so revealing. This is what happens when your mum is dead and you kill your father -- Boo-yah! No more parental guidance...

(Laughs) Sorry.. No pictures of Kyrie. <^-^>lll

Side note: The women in DMC4 gestures and speaks with their boobs. This is what happens when there's a new technology to enhance graphics. First thing's first -- Boob jobs. <_  _>lll

Personal Thoughts

Maybe it's just me but -- I feel that this game was done in a rush. And the moves are very repetitive. (Eg: Gilgamesh is a cheap replica of Beowulf, Credo's battle style is similar to Vergil's method)

There aren't many new weapons and styles. All so limited.

Also, something about the new weapon PANDORA doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

When I battled Dagon, using Dante.. I expected to get an ice element weapon since Dagon's attacks were based on ice.

However... ↓

I got a suitcase that turns into ... ↓

A nasty Gatling gun.. and can transform into ... ↓

A Mega size Bazooka ... Plus ... ↓

A razor sharp charkra and finally -- ↓

... What the F is this? <.___.>{?]

Transformers?

A versatile weapon, huh... <-    ->lll

At least in DMC3, it was more logical. You fight the frosty Cerberus and you get an icy weapon. You fight Agni & Rudra whom possesses wind and flames, you get their weapons.

It was a total match.

A~ah well... Something new that I'll have to learn to accept.

Despite that my review on DMC 4 seems so negative, I just want to let you know -- I enjoyed the game and I'm willing to give 7.5/10.

• The soundtracks are great! I especially like Echidna, Agnus (1st battle) and Credo's battle theme track.
• The graphics are awesome! It's so colourful like a world of skittles!
• The videos were entertaining albeit cheesy lines...
• The voice actors did a splendid job. Very outstanding and natural! (Except for A-a-a-Agnus)
• Game play is fun. There are some challenging moments. Eg: Mission 18!

I'm just not happy with Nero's character (he's like a ripped-off character) and hopefully in the next DMC game... Please please please don't give us any stupid surprises like "Nero is Dante's son" or "Nero is Vergil in disguise" or any shit like that.

And it better not be Dante and Trish son. Because.. Come on..

Minha primeira reação ao ver esse personagem nos trailers do jogo, bem antes do mesmo ser lançado: "Quem é esse moleque??Cadê o Dante??"

E não é que o Nero é divertido?Tem muitos movimentos que copiam o Dante - óbvio - e uma "mãozinha do Demo" muito útil(muito útil MESMO, principalmente na dificuldade Devil Hunter...Que venha a dificuldade Son of Sparda! \o/). Ele não é só divertido na hora da pancadaria, mas ele tambem faz umas brincadeiras que nem o Dante.

Querem saber quem deu vida a essa "cópia" do Filho do Sparda?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!Johnny Yong Bosch,intérprete de Adam Park ,o 2º Ranger Negro dos Power Rangers e do Zeo Ranger Verde!Assisti Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers no cinema, dá até vergonha! Quando descobri que ELE dublava o Nero, quase tive um ataque de riso!!!

Devil May Cry 4 brings Devil May Cry to the PS3 and it is as fun as the other games, if not more so. This game has amazing graphics, audio, cutscenes, and action sequences that will keep you constantly in a state of awe. Also, the fighting, controls, and animations with Nero and Dante is perfect, along with the new bosses that are awesome. However, the game takes a little while to install into your system, the environments and bosses are repeated far too often, and the puzzles seem to cut up the action a bit. Overall though, if you liked the original PS2 games then there is no doubt that you will like this one.

Pros:

+ Extraordinary action sequences highlighted by smooth controls and slick animations

+ Nero is a great new character with some terrific new moves

+ Beautiful visuals and incredible cutscenes will constantly amaze you

+ Boss characters are designed well and fun to fight

Cons:

- Environments and boss fights are repeated far too often

- Puzzles and platforming aren't much fun and chop up the pace too much

# Devil May Cry 4 Cheat Codes

Devil May Cry 4 durchgespielt und viel "Spaß" dabei gehabt. Wie üblich brachiale Actionkost, nur mal ganz ohne Gore od. Splatter. Verpackt ist das Game für den PC, die Xbox 360 sowie der PS3 in eine sehr sehr hübsche Grafik, angereichert mit Wortwitz, einer gekonnten Inszenierung in Sachen Stil & Humor, getragen von einer - für das Genre des Hack & Slash- liebevoll inszenierten Geschichte. Die Ablöse von Dante nennt sich Nero, ist ausgestatted mit einem Dämonenarm und spielt sich recht Arcadelastig. In späteren Missionen darf man aber auch mit dem alten Helden ran. Also allen, denen Ninja Gaiden 2 etwas zu derb ist, sei dieses Spiel empfohlen: Kanns nur wärmstens empfehlen!

Lo so. Avevo detto che sarei stato via per una settimana soltanto e di giorni ne son passati sedici. Ma mio fratello ha comprato Devil May Cry 4. E Io amo da sempre Devil May Cry. E da sempre sono ossessionato con angeli e demoni e DMC4 e' strapieno di angeli, demoni e altre creature bibliche e non. E poi Dante, l'eroe della saga, e' come sempre il mucchio di pixel piu' tamarro ed egocentrico sulla piazza. Ho pensato piu' volte in questi anni di farlo mio mentore, si', ma questa e' un'altra storia. La new entry Nero, invece, e' altrettanto sborone e pieno di se' ma anche innamorato dall'estremita' della frangia quella dell'unghia del pollicione. Braccio demoniaco a parte, mi ricorda qualcuno.

E questo quarto capitolo di Devil May Cry e' ancor piu' veloce e frenetico dei precedenti e, come sempre, c'e' poco da pensare e tanto da menar le mani tagliuzzare/far saltare in aria/trasformare in scolapasta, ovviamente sempre e solo a forza di articolatissime ma soprattutto stilosissime combo, valanghe di agguerritissimi demoni. E angeli. L'ho gia' detto che adoro demoni e angeli, vero? E poi le armi, santo cielo che armi! E poi... E poi... Cosa? Come dite? Che sono un povero illuso se penso di giustificar l'aver trascurato per piu' di due settimane i miei fedelissimi lettori semplicemente dicendo che "questo videogioco e' una figata atomica" e che non avete alcuna intenzione di perdonarmi? Nemmeno se aggiungo anche queste altre tre paia di "buoni motivi"?

Capcom nos quiere vender sus titulos viejos debido a que es mas facil reeditar un juego que hacer uno nuevo . . . su politica de traer cosas retro es solo un gancho para que compres . . . y esconder una realidad incomoda que trataremos ahorita . . . ¿Donde esta el famoso contenido descargable de Devil May Cry 4? Tan famoso que hasta se le hizo un comercial de XB360, que te decia que compraras el titulo . . . y lo mismo pasa con Rockstar North/Take Two donde esta su DLC de GTA4.

No hay anuncios, no hay nada . . . porque? será que realmente les esta costando trabajo crear contenido . . . los ganchos publicitarios venden, pero yo esperaria que ahorita ya estuvieran anunciando algo, o sera que hasta Leipzig nos mostraran su CONTENIDO DESCARGABLE . . .  preferiria que las compañias se dedicaran a innovar y no a revender sus titulos que les trajeron glorias en el pasado. Esperemos que se anuncie algo pronto.

I liked the intro very much. Opera, demon killing, and Dante dropping through a skylight window attempting to assassinate Sanctus. An interesting enough plot device. Then Dante's lookalike Nero chases after the son of Sparda. Come to think of it, nothing interesting happens for a while after that until the laboratory. Actually, nothing interesting happens at all. I've been blinded by these pretty graphics and a question that nags at me. Most of what I remember from this game are a few snappy remarks, some frustration, a crapload of cutscenes, and a lot of fighting. The only thing that kept me going through this game was that goddamn question that still burns in the back of my mind. The question that was only partly answered. There were so many things that were so annoying. Like getting thrown back 50 feet away by one hit. And the timed escape from the HQ. And those damn Faults in the forest on the way back to town. The red and blue jump pads got to me too. Why do you have to jump on some of them when you can walk onto the others? Trying to get on them got me killed a couple times in the fight against Saviour.

Never mind all that bitterness. It is an ok game. But sometimes I got real frustrated with it. I am kinda bitter over the fact my question was only half answered. I've kinda gotten over it mostly. Also, I hate how little a role Lady played in this game. I thought she was awesome in  DMC3. I hate Trish for being the one who made this whole game possible by giving the Order the sword Sparda. Stupid Trish.

My rating overall: 4 stars out of 5. Presentation:4.5 stars. Gameplay: 4 stars. Music and sound: 3 stars. Graphics: 5 stars. Would I play it again? No. Or at least I don't foresee me replaying it any time soon.

Por mi parte, como ya dije en posts anteriores y soy el editor (nohace falta aclarar) tengo un AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+/ 2 Gb.-800 Mhz. OCZ 5-5-15/ XFX Geforce 8600 GT 512 Mb OC (por mi nomas un poquito, Core de 540 a 611 Mhz.) 512 Mb/ Mother MSI K9AGM3-f (bueno, pero me gustaria el nuevo ASUS M3A78 jeje... graficos ATI HD 3200 Tecnologia Hibrida jaja muy bueno.

Resumiendo voy dejando que estoy jugando ahora, que no quiere decir que no haya jugado otros grandes titulos ya terminados y otros en espera, el que quiera deja su PC, y que estilo y clase de juego, y/o cual cree que deberia recomentdar para que otros no gasten su tiempo y plata y algunos juegos que no valen la pena.

AHORA ESTOY JUGANDO (ACTUALMENTE INSTALADOS EN LA PC)

MASS EFFECT (PATCH 1.01a) (y dps vuelto a crackear jeje)

SPACE SIEGE ( los que esperan que sea dungeon siege... les digo... no ven que dice space?? jeje chiste. Vale la pena si ya jugaste otras cosas 1, divierte, no si lo tenes que comprar)

TIME SHIFT (siempre de vez en cuando instalo algun shooter, ahora le toco a este que lo tenia esperando. standard.

SPLINTER CELL ( Chaos theory, pq la verdad me fallo la otra ves el ultimo Double agent de skullptura, pero debi cometer algun error y no tener los drivers bien algo asi.

Pro Evolution soccer 08 ( el de ps3 en pc por supuesto ) esperando el 09 dentro de poco, para los que no se enteraron

NBA LIVE 08 ( Muy bueno como siempre, y con la ayuda para ellos de que para PC no tienen competencia x ahora, hoy me entere de que sale en octubre NBA 2K9, lo jugue para ps2 habiendolo relegado siempre pensando que la saga live era mejor, cosa que creo hasta algun tiempo atras, desde el NBA 2K7, este ultimo es mejor... valia la aclaracion ).-

Medieval 2 TOTAL WAR ( LA verdad recien empiezo, te tiene que gustar o gustar nomas la onda de este, para los que no tienen ni idea voy a tratar de guiarlos, pero tienen que conocer algo: civilization, Rome, y tiene cosas del juego de mesa T.E.G. jeje un poco de todos estos, pero va unos pasos mas alla con grandes graficos y bastante profundo).-

The Witcher ( Muy bueno, maduro, realista, por supuesto mitologico, buenos personajes , linea historia, combate bien de cerca y claro, con combos por tiempo de presion del Clic del mouse, algunas cosas de Oblivion, pero con mas orientacion visual diria yo, repito esta muy bueno

Devil May Cry 4-The Repetitiveness!!!

Since this game has been out for a while now, I won't go over the game itself, but just point out
some things that were good or bad. If you want a full summary then go check the hundreds of reviews
done when this game first came out. Well first off, i have to say this is really repetitive, combat wise.
Although you can use the arm to pull some throws, mostly it is just mashing the triangle button to do slash
attacks. The option of using your gun is pretty useless, as the gun does around 1/20th the damage as the sword. What I was really disappointed at was the fact that the main lead, Nero, does NOT get any new weapons as you proceed through the story, so you are stuck with the tried and tested grab/slash combo for the entire time, at least for as long as you are using Nero. The second big disappointment was the return of Dante. I don't mind if he appears as a cameo, but for some reason the creators decided to make him a playable character for the second part of the story. This is still ok, but having him visit the same dungeons and fight the same bosses as Nero is a bit repetitive. Kinda reminds me of Gundam Seed Destiny where the previous hero totally dominates the story over the new hero...(Screw Jesus Kira Yamato). Oh, and did I mention you have to fight the same bosses 3 times in total throughout the game? Also, it doesn't help that the places you visit are similar to those in Resident Evil 4- first the village, then the castle, the secret lab...they have really run out of ideas haven't they? On a side note, for some weird reason when the "savior" is activated I was instantly reminded of RahXephon... The only redeeming
factor in DMC4 is probably the weapons you get as Dante. Personally I find the gaunlet almost impossible to use as it is slow+extremely short range, but the other two are quite fun to use. One is this wing thing (no you still can't fly) where you can throw multiple exploding short swords, and the other is my favorite Pandora's Box, a 5 in 1 bowgun/rocket launcher/gatling gun/laser cannon/missile turret. Made of pure win. Too bad Nero doesn't get anything...

Despite all the repetitiveness, DMC4 is still worth playing if you like spamming stlyish moves with just the press of a button. Probably it is better to rent or borrow from someone else since this is a short game (finished in around 10-12hours) and the replayability is quite low (you won't want to fight that viper-dragon boss another 3 times).

Devil May Cry 4 is the fourth installment of the Devil May Cry series. It was announced in March 2007 that the game would be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.

In the game, the player controls both Nero, and Dante, the game's protagonist and the series' title character respectively and fights enemies in close combat using firearms, swords, and other weapons. The characters Lady and Trish from previous games in the series make appearances, along with new characters Kyrie, Credo, Gloria, and Agnus.

The game received generally favorable reviews, receiving an 84% overall rating from Metacritic. GameSpy commented on the gameplay and said that "DMC4 succeeds on many levels with its entertaining gameplay," and commented on the graphics, saying "visually, DMC4 is a dynamo."

The Devil May Cry series and I have a bit of a history. I was excited to play the first game but upon not being able to defeat the boss on the third level, I stopped playing completely. Despite that experience though I bought a copy of the second game and played it for a couple of hours. I ended up reviewing it more favorably than the original due, in part, to the fact that I was able to play more than the first three missions. For whatever reasons, I missed out on the third game. Hearing about this latest version had me at varying opinions. On the one hand I wanted to try another game in the series. On the other hand, well, I didn't want a repeat of my first experience. Lucky, it did not disappointed... mostly.

You start as Nero, a punk that despite his anti-authoritarian attitude still manages to make it to a church service. This service is different from a traditional service though in one major way. Here they worship Sparta, the demon that turned against his brother demons and closed off the Hell dimension from the Earth one. We soon find out that Nero has affections toward one of the singers there, a girl by the name of Kyrie. After her song, they sit together in the audience while Nero fights with wanting to leave during the sermon. As Nero finally gets up to leave, a wrapped box that was a gift for Kyrie falls out of his coat. Picking it up from the floor, Kyrie begins to open it. Before she can remove the golden necklace from the box however, Dante - the main protagonist of the Devil May Cry series - appears and murders the priest. Things get messy, fast. Seeing Dante as a threat, Nero attacks him. If you selected to have the tutorial turned on, this serves as a training area to test out Nero's basic attacks on Dante. Eventually, after having broken almost everything in the church, the battle ends up in a draw. Dante departs, but not without leaving Nero with questions about who exactly he is serving in being a part of an order that worships a demon. Leaving the building, Kyrie gets kidnapped and Nero charges after her, killing everything in his path. This is how the journey starts to figure out who, or what, is behind the kidnapping of Kyrie and what role Dante plays in the whole mess.

I really loved the first half of the game. Playing as Nero is fun. He has a few of the basic attacks Dante had in the previous games. Switching, on the fly, between guns or a sword is back, as well as enabling the Devil Trigger to give added attack power for a short time. The big change comes in the Devil Bringer ability. Since Nero's arm is demonic, he can extend it, in a sort of astro-projection way, to either pull enemies toward him or pull himself toward them. This gives him a unique fighting style that is quite different than Dante's. Many combo attacks have part, if not all, of the technique consisting of pulling an enemy toward you. Once there, then you either throw them in the air or slam them to the ground depending on the attack. Midway through the game that changes. Due to a plot element, the player switches between playing Nero to now playing Dante. This is where I started to dislike the game. Once you get to Dante, not only are the attacks and techniques different but all the areas are repeated. Each area that you progressed as Nero is then played through, in reverse order, as Dante. Once you get used to playing as Dante - which took me about two missions - it is easier but the repeated levels are still annoying. Added to this is the fact that each boss that was defeated as Nero must now be vanquished, again, as Dante. You can see how, after spending several hours exploring each new unique area as one character, it might feel frustrating that despite a new character the backgrounds are the same in most of the second half of the game.

The traditional upgrade system is different than what I had previously used. Instead of using red orbs - left by killed enemies or found in hidden places - to enable more advanced techniques and attacks, Proud Souls are used in their place. These Souls are gained at the end of each level by grading how the player acted. Using more advances attacks to rack up high style ratings and limiting the use of healing items adds to this score. The Red Orbs are not ruled out completely though. These can be used to buy healing items from a store before each level and from statues found in later levels.

For fans of the series I may not recommend this. I liked it. The reasons I liked it though was because in many parts it was easier than the first two games in the series and I was able to progress smoothly. I was even able to beat it without a single Game Over. That is saying something considering my record of dying continuously on the first game's third mission. There are harder difficulties too. Along with Human mode -which I played through the game on - there are three more, with each one unlocking after finishing the previous. After my positive experience on the game I've been thinking about playing the other, older, ones again. I've even been thinking about giving Devil May Cry a second try, in the hopes of writing a better history.
