Podcast Yahoo, is an example of a very full featured
podcast directory. Yahoo's beta offering presents

Yahoo's site is professionally done, and likely has

Podcast Yahoo clearly demonstrates the ability of a

very unlikely that Yahoo or a company like it would
have been able to come up with podcasting, once they
know what to do, they can do it well.

A podcast directory is a listing of syndication feeds that
link to a podcast. They are often organized by category
and topic, and allow the user to find a feed that podcasts
about almost anything. Just as search engines help
people find sites with the information they need, a
podcast directory presents a searchable list of podcasts

From the looks of it there are a lot of people who haven't uploaded photos and probably don't even know you can do that. I would encourage you to get logged in and poke around a bit. If we can spread the word about it we can get some more faces up there. That's one thing I find the most helpful in a church the size of SE. I often hear names repeated over and over, but those of us that didn't grow up there don't usually know what face to put with a name. And with two services, there's a whole crowd of members we never even see.

Then you'll see this screen where you can type in your info to be sent a new log in. If you get an error message, that just means your email isn't in the system and if you email the church office they can add you.

However there are some photographers that chose to sell their work for money that they need to pay bills or rent. These type of photographers are the ones that end up hating their job because they don’t just let the inspiration come to them they end up trying to force it. My favorite way of taking photos along with most people is when go on vacation or hang out with my family just take pictures of that and have memories of all of us being together. Yet there are some days that I see a beautiful sunset or flower and get the inspiration to take a picture of these really beautiful sense that I have stumbled upon. So why am I only sending out this mailing to 50 people, when I know there have probably been a few thousand people assigned to the 170th over the years?  Well, right now, this is an idea that I think is really great and that I am excited about.  But I do not know how the rest of you feel about it yet.  If I get a good response from the first group of 50 people, then I will know that others feel this is a worthy project too.  Then we will roll it out to everyone that we can find.  So far, I have identified a few hundred people, some from my own memory, some from old copies of orders and records that I have, and some that were registered at other websites.

I've been tied up the past week or so looking at the exciting world of online directories, calendars and all parts in between.  You don't realize how many of these types of things are out there in the intranets until you try looking.

Right now - you either get an online, business type, directory or a calendar.  One would think we could merge these two beasts - they are really very much alike.  One hold business - address, name, products, hours.  The other a date, time and location.  But don't forget categories - the way we transmorgify taxonomies to try and get people what they want.

So hang tight - as things start to come together I'll try to post results.  And please, if you know of any good solutions...let me know.

If you get the following error in ASP.net :

The "SendUsing" configuration value is invalid.

Check if the following line is present in the script for sending mail. If not added it.

Here, "mail.youdomain.com" is the mail server. If this does not work, you can try using mail server IP.

Inbox locked error

You get inbox locked error when there is inbox.lock file in the mailbox.

Inbox get locked when :

1. Accessing webmail at the same time a pop3 mail client is accessing email.

2. Accessing email from a mail client at intervals less than 3 minutes.

Remove the inbox.lock file and do not check mails at intervals less than 3 minutes.

Installing BounceParser

BounceParser is used to accept a message and then it will generate a report, whether the message is bounce message. The report will contain the reason for bouncing the message.

BounceParser or Mail::DeliveryStatus::BounceParser can be installed as

perl -MCPAN -e 'install Mail::DeliveryStatus::BounceParser'

Wget for password protected directories

When we download images or some files from password protected directories (using .htaccess,etc) using 'wget', we may get 'Authorization failed' error.

One example is given below :

In such cases, what we can do is, use user authentication in 'wget'.

#wget --http-user=username --http-passwd=password http://example.com/images/img.jpg

This way we can download the file easily.

Modifying Autoresponder in Webmin

Autoresponder in Webmin replies with Subject as : 'Autoreply to <subject of the mail that you used>'.

To remove "Autoreply to" you can do the following.

1. vi /etc/webmin/virtual-server/autoreply.pl

2. Find the line

$rheader{'Subject'} = "Autoreply to $header{'subject'}";

3. Replace it by

$rheader{'Subject'} = "$header{'subject'}";

Yes, thats all.

Now, the autoreply will not have the word "Autoreply to". :)

Address already in use: make sock: could not bind to

address 0.0.0.0:443 no listening sockets available.

I got the following error while restarting httpd

# service httpd restart
Starting httpd: (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:443
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs!

Check which all processes are listening to port 80 or 443. You can use the following commands.

1. netstat -lnp | grep '0.0.0.0:80'

2. lsof | grep *:www

3. lsof -i:443

4. fuser -v 443/tcp

5. netstat -tulpen | grep :443

You can kill those processes and then restart httpd. This usually solves the problem.

Its a free website to join and you receive your own profile and url.  And thousands of ways to connect with others. 

I've always said "you have to start somewhere in order to grow and reach your goals." Well, my community sure is not helping.  They did not even give me a chance to get my "foot in the door" with a presentation or a chance to give a demonstration of how to use the site.  I even offered to go around to the local businesses on my days off and set their profile up for them for free. That did not work either....

We have a great thing going with spotabusiness.com so for those of you who are interested in having a free profile and url that you can give out as an extra to your customers, please join!  I just do not understand my community, why not use something that is at your disposal for free????

We were very excited to find an old street directory for Skegness and Winthorpe. But it's not just any old street guide - it is a valuable resource for family and local historians.

As well as listing the streets in Skegness and Winthorpe in 1928, it actually gives account of all the house numbers, names of the houses and the main occupant's name. Each of the business premises in Skegness is listed also, along with the proprietors.

The street guide tells us that there was in 1928 a population of 8,700 in Skegness, and 1,900 houses.

It could have just been people taking profits and moving them elsewhere while the volatility settles.  At any rate, light, sweet crude plunged $6.44, or 4.4 percent, to settle at $138.74 a barrel in an extremely volatile session. Prices at one point plummeted more than $10 from the day's high.

Mounting concerns about the risks that inflation poses to the United States, the world's biggest oil consumer, helped spark the declines. Analysts also attributed the sell-off to Thursday's expiration of options contracts, which tend to increase volatility, and to computers programmed to automatically sell once prices reach certain thresholds.

"There was this big ... selling pressure when prices dipped below $140 a barrel. It got a lot of bulls very nervous," said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst at the Oil Price Information Service. "If it was a fire, you'd call it an accelerant."

The drop, which eclipsed last Tuesday's slide of $5.33, marked the biggest decline in dollar terms since the Gulf War. The key here is that even so, prices remain no lower than they were a week ago.

Longtime market observers cautioned that the turnaround may not signal a lasting shift in sentiment -- prices have swung violently in recent days as they flirted with record highs. But it does underscore investor uncertainty about the sustainability of sky-high prices and their potentially long-lasting effects on the broader economy.

Over the course of the day, the contract rose as high as $146.73 and fell as low as $135.92. Prices hit a record $147.27 Friday.

Concerns about the economy were high on traders' minds Tuesday.

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress that "numerous difficulties" are racking the U.S. economy, and warned that rising prices for energy and food are elevating the risks of inflation.

At the same time, the Labor Department reported that wholesale inflation jumped by 1.8 percent last month, a larger-than-expected gain. Over the past year, wholesale prices have risen 9.2 percent, the most since 1981.

"Traders get spooked and simply sell positions," said Jim Ritterbusch, president of energy consultancy Ritterbusch and Associates. "The threat of recession; at some point the market's going to plug that in."

Along with all of this nervousness in the air, there are still lingering concerns about the health of the financial sector continued to weigh on banking stocks, reminding energy traders that oil prices are not immune to troubles elsewhere in the market.

"Since investment banks have been increasing their ... exposure to commodities, their current distress can have (a) significant impact on oil prices if they are forced to liquidate commodity positions in a run for cash," Olivier Jakob, an analyst at Petromatrix in Switzerland, said in a research note.

To top it all off, the latest monthly market report from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries gave traders further reason to unload oil.

The cartel predicted world oil demand will rise by 900,000 barrels a day in 2009, or 100,000 barrels per day less than this year. OPEC blamed the slowdown on a slumping economy and high pump prices in richer industrialized countries.

Meanwhile, a five-day strike by Brazilian oil workers that began early Monday had less effect on output than feared.

The dollar fell to a new low against the euro, but that did little to halt oil's decline. The weaker dollar has driven prices sharply higher in recent months, enticing investors to pump money into oil as a hedge against inflation and making crude cheaper for overseas buyers.

In Washington, President Bush continued to press the Democratic-run Congress to open up new areas to offshore oil drilling. The president lifted a ban on Continental Shelf drilling Monday, but a Congressional prohibition remains.

"I readily concede it won't produce a barrel of oil tomorrow, but it will reverse the psychology," Bush said at his first White House news conference since April.

At the fuel pump, retail gas prices in the U.S. remained at a record near $4.11 a gallon, according to auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express. Diesel rose six-tenths of a penny to its own high of $4.83 a gallon.

Tuesday's sell-off alone is unlikely to bring drivers much relief.

"People shouldn't expect to see their pump prices drop," Kloza said. "By the end of the week, we may be talking about $4 (a gallon), we may be talking about $4.20. That's the nature of the beast."

General Motors Corp., the leading U.S. automaker, said it is assuming oil prices will hover around $130 to $150 a barrel next year. The company made the prediction as it laid out plans to slash jobs and truck production, suspend its dividend and borrow up to $3 billion as it grapples with an ailing U.S. economy and record high fuel prices.

In other Nymex trading, heating oil futures fell 14.59 cents to settle at $3.919 a gallon, while gasoline futures tumbled 17.29 cents to settle at $3.3848 a gallon. Natural gas dropped 48.2 cents to settle at $11.477 per 1,000 cubic feet.

In London, August Brent crude fell $5.17 to settle at $138.75 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

What does this mean for TicosLand.com and Costa Rica?  We are unsure.  We read in La Nacion, Costa Rica's leading newspaper that bus fares are going to go up by 12%.
