<p>DivX a postat pe site-ul propriu detalii si instructiuni despre modul de instalare si codare precum si limitarile acestuia cum ar fi de exemplu faptul ca filmele codate nu pot fi redate pe Apple Ipod sau Iphone.</p>
<p>Rezolutia maxima va fi de 720p (1280x720) iar softul poate fi downloadat de pe pagina Divx Labs sau prin accesarea link-ului urmator - <a href="http://labs.divx.com/node/6992">Divx Labs</a>.</p>

Además te <em>brinda la oportunidad </em>de conservar el menú del DVD reproduciendo la estructura original  y modificando los archivos IFO para que apunten a los MPEG comprimidos.</p>

<p>Ripea DVD al vuelo o desde un archivo de imagen. Soporta, además, la mayoría de los codecs de vídeo con una más que interesante (para mí que tengo un reproductor sin soporte DivX) opción VCD. Tiene muchísimas opciones más como <span style="text-decoration:underline;"><strong>selección de la pista de audio o del angulo de visión, posibilidad de recortar el vídeo, etc</strong></span>.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft" src="http://www.ecometro.com/images/Decoder_solution.jpg" alt="" width="200" height="169" />I remember back when I was young.  In grade school.  I liked to read spy books.  Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, several others I can't remember now.  I though it was cool they could send secret coded messages.  I remember me and my childhood chums making up secret codes and putting together a deciphering tool so we could send each other secret coded messages.</p>
<p>I wish we had personal computers back then.  There is a great secret encoder website called <a href="http://encodor.com/index.php">Encoder</a> where you can type in a message and lock it with a password.  You can send the jumbled up message to a chum, give them the password and they can head over to Encoder to decipher it.  My 8 year old daughter and her neighbor friend are all over Encoder.</p>
<p>So if you have a secret message to send, make sure to encode it using <a href="http://encodor.com/index.php">Encoder</a>.</p>
<p>Are you getting excited for the newest <a href="http://thedarkknight.warnerbros.com/">Batman release</a>?  Me too!  I was seriously hoping my <a href="http://www.ecogeek.org/content/view/1867/">Batcar </a>would be ready in time but I may have to wait.</p>
<p>Affordable green housing???  Yeah, you read it right.  Some <a href="http://postgreen.com/">ultra cool folks in the Philly area</a> are in the process of building a leed certified (or certifiable) house for $100k.  I hope we can emulate these folks and try it ourselves.  It can be done and they are showing us the way.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Lo standard H.264/AVC è stato definito nel 2003 dalla ITU-T con lo scopo di fornire un supporto ad applicazioni di vario genere con una qualità superiore ai precedenti standard di codifica video.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">E’ suddiviso in tre profili: Baseline, Main, Extended, ciascuno con delle proprie caratteristiche e potenziali ambiti applicativi. Tra le principali aree applicative si possono citare:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">
<ul style="margin-top:0;" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal">Televisione via cavo, via satellite, digitale      terrestre, DSL, ecc.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal">Memorizzazione su supporti ottici.</li>
</ul>

<li class="MsoNormal">Servizi di conversazione voce e video su ISDN, IP,      LAN DSL, su reti wireless e mobili, ecc.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal">Servizi di Video-on-Demand e di video streaming su      varie piattaforme di rete.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal">Servizi di Multimedia Messaging (MMS).</li>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Il codec H.264 consiste di due blocchi principali: il Video Coding Layer (VCL) che si occupa della codifica vera e propria dei dati video, ed il Network Abstraction Layer (NAL) che si occupa di organizzare i dati codificati in modo adatto per il trasporto in rete.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">La figura seguente esemplifica tale architettura, in cui è evidenziata la separazione tra il livello di pertinenza del codec da quello di trasporto per entrambi i lati, encoder e decoder:</p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Il VCL consiste di un’unità che si occupa della compressione, e opera ai livelli sintattici di blocco, macroblocco, e slice. E’ progettato in modo da essere il più possibile indipendente dalla rete, e contiene vari strumenti di codifica che migliorano la robustezza agli errori del flusso video compresso.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Il NAL adatta le stringhe di bit generate dal VCL a vari ambienti di rete e multiplex. Copre tutti i livelli sintattici al di sopra del livello di slice. Il NAL permette ai dati codificati dal VCL di poter essere trasmessi su RTP/UDP/IP, H.324/M, MPEG-2 transport, H.320.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">La separazione tra VCL e NAL consente una separazione tra gli aspetti del codec relativi all’elaborazione del segnale e quelli relativi al trasporto su un canale di comunicazione, separazione che si traduce in una maggiore flessibilità in fase di progetto delle applicazioni.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Le nuove caratteristiche introdotte dallo standard H.264 possono essere suddivise in categorie:</p>
<ul>
<li class="MsoNormal">miglioramento della capacità di predire i valori      del contenuto dell’immagine da codificare.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="margin-top:0;" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal">Miglioramento dell’efficienza della codifica.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="margin-top:0;" type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal">Robustezza nei confronti di errori/perdite e      flessibilità nel funzionamento in vari ambienti di rete.</li>
</ul>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Per ognuna di queste categorie lo standard specifica vari strumenti, un sottoinsieme dei quali viene adottato a seconda del profilo (Baseline, Main, Extended).</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">In base alle caratteristiche di ogni profilo si può dire che il profilo Baseline è adatto per applicazioni come videotelefonia, videoconferenza, e comunicazioni wireless; il profilo Main si può utilizzare per applicazioni di memorizzazione video e broadcasting televisivo; infine il profilo Extended si presta bene ad applicazioni di streaming media.</p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size:12pt;" lang="EN-GB">Tools di error-resilience in H.264</span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Lo standard H.264 sfrutta i tools già presenti in altri schemi di codifica video e ne introduce dei nuovi per migliorare le prestazioni derivanti dalla trasmissione in rete.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="text-align:justify;">Ecco una breve rassegna delle tecniche utilizzate dal codec H.264:</p>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Intra Placement: posizionamento di immagini, blocchi, macroblocchi, slices codificati intra per contrastare effetti di drifting. H.264 consente la predizione di macroblocchi Intra anche da macroblocchi Inter .</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Picture Segmentation: H.264 consente la segmentazione di un’immagine sotto forma di slices. La disponibilità di una slice codificata consente di ricostruire i macroblocchi di questa slice.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Reference Picture Selection: la selezione di un’unità di riferimento, sia<span> </span>essa una immagine, una slice, o un macroblocco, può essere utilizzata come strumento di robustezza nei confronti degli errori.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Data Partitioning: si creano più stringhe di bit per una slice (stringhe dette partizioni), e si allocano tutti i simboli di una slice in una singola partizione che ha una stretta relazione semantica con ogni altra. In H.264 sono presenti tre tipi di partizione: Header information, Intra Partition, Inter Partition.</li>
</ul>

<li>Parameter Sets: un sequence parameter set contiene tutta l’informazione relativa ad una sequenza di immagini; un picture parameter set contiene tutta l’informazione relativa a tutte le slices appartenenti ad una singola immagine. Le informazioni sui parameter sets possono essere inviate in-band o out-of-band.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Flexible Macroblock Ordering: disponibile solo per i profili Baseline ed Extended, consente di assegnare i macroblocchi alle slices in un ordine diverso da quello di scansione normalmente utilizzato. Ciò consente una maggiore efficacia nel mascheramento degli errori nel caso di perdita di una slice.</li>
</ul>
<ul style="text-align:justify;">
<li>Redundant Slices: consente ad un encoder di piazzare, in aggiunta ai macroblocchi della slice stessa, una o più rappresentazioni ridondanti dello stesso macroblocco nello stesso bit stream. La rappresentazione ridondante può essere codificata utilizzando diversi parametri di codifica.</li>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As a form of advanced procrastination, I did a great deal of research on Flash video codecs this morning. I was spurred by reaction to a presentation I made last night where a young lady quite bluntly said, "You can do better [quality Flash video compression]."</p>
<p>The short answer: yes, one can do better than the status quo, but it costs money.</p>
<p>The superstar of Flash video compression is <a href="http://on2.com/">On2</a>'s proprietary <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VP6">VP6</a> codec. </p>
<p>Adobe's Flash 6+ players support the standard "YouTube" quality <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorenson">Sorenson</a> Spark (Sorenson H.263) codec. Most YouTube videos (and, for that matter, most online video sites) use a derivation of this codec.</p>
<p>Starting with Flash 8, Adobe's Flash team decided to support On2's VP6 codec. On2's proprietary VP6 codec is a beauty when compared to files of same bitrate encoded with Sorenson. <a href="http://www.on2.com/index.php?443">Here are some examples.</a></p>
<p>Here's the rub: it costs nothing to implement a site using ffmpeg to convert media files into FLV video files using the older Sorenson codec. But, if you want to use VP6 On2 charges upwards of $3,500/year to use their codec via the command line which would support automatic server side encoding of videos.</p>
<p>There is, however, quite a complicated hack around this restriction. On2 used to release a free, personal version of the VP6 encoder for Windows which included vp6vfw.dll -- a Video for Windows encoding library. Using some fancy hacks described <a href="http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/menc-feat-video-for-windows.html">here</a> you can get <a href="http://www.mplayerhq.hu/">mencoder</a> to use the vp6vfw.dll on any platform, even via the command line.</p>
<p>Yes, it would work. But would On2 come a-knockin'?</p>
<p>And, why did Adobe agree to this arrangement? Is VP6 really the best format? (It does look nice!) Or did On2 work out a lucrative agreement with Adobe so they both get a nice chunk of that $3,500/year?</p>
<p>A nice link from VP6's Wikipedia page shed light on some of these questions. <a href="http://www.kaourantin.net/2005/08/quest-for-new-video-codec-in-flash-8.html">Flash Player Principal Engineer Tinic Uro openly discusses why VP6 was chosen over H.264</a>. (Many saw H.264 as a natural, open successor to Sorenson/H.263.)</p>

On2 throws it away."</p>
<p>On2, you have a pricing problem. A fixed cost ($3,500/yr) for your server product is silly. Here's a better answer: let me use the codec for free, we'll call this a "development version," and come back and charge me if I'm actually able to make a successful website using your product.</p>
<p>If I'm successful, then I would be happy to pay MORE than $3,500/yr, especially if your codec is responsible for building a multimillion dollar business. Instead, given your current pricing structure, I'll develop my website with H.264. If the site is a success, you won't see a dime.</p>

<p>Nella colonna sinistra abbiamo l'elenco dei plugins disponibili, a destra, la schermata dei plugins attivati. Cliccando sul pulsante register, abbiamo la possibilità di attivarne degli altri. Lo studio di ciascuno dei plug-ins è riservato ai commenti.</p>
<p>I plug-ins NON sono configurabili se non abilitati. Una volta abilitato un plug-in, (ovvero facendolo passare nella schermata di destra) potremo cliccare su configure e modificarne i parametri. Attenzione però, sono richieste competenze non banali, che sono proprie di tecnici audio. </p>

<p>Qui entra in gioco la mission della vostra radio. Se il vostro obiettivo è quello di creare una radio libera per tutti, senza particolari vincoli, questa trattazione non vi interessa. Io devo parlarne per completezza, in quanto non è impossibile che una web radio voglia usufruire di questi mezzi per una sua particolare politica, ed è degna di rispetto, anche se non condivisibile.</p>

<p>E' possibile modificare l'identificativo dell'Encoder con un nome più facilmente ricordabile .</p>
<p>E' possibile modificare persino l'MTU dei pacchetti che vengono inviati durante il flusso. Il consiglio è quello di lasciare l'opzione in default, ma cliccando su Custom, saremo libero di decidere la grandezza che più ci aggrada. Ricordate però di agire sempre con buon senso, in quanto la massima grandezza dei pacchetti è comunque vincolata ai mezzi fisici che si utilizzano durante la trasmissione da sorgente a server e da server ai clients.</p>

<p align="left">Size 2.5” encoders (2.5" diameter) are among the most popular encoders in the world. As a result, nearly every encoder manufacturer in the world makes them. The problem is, not every Size 2.5” encoder is built to the same exacting standards of quality and reliability as the <a href="http://www.ctiautomation.net/PDF/Accu-Coder/Accu-Coder-725-Shaft-Encoders.pdf" target="_blank"><strong>Model 725 Accu-Coder</strong></a> from Encoder Products Company (EPC).</p>

<p align="left"><strong>So, what's the problem?</strong></p>
<p align="left">If you have used other Size 2.5” encoders, you have probably experienced reliability problems such as sensor crashes and disk breakage. The typical construction of a Size 2.5” encoder (shown at left) uses a single set of closely spaced shaft bearings and a large diameter (typically 2.0") glass disk mounted to the shaft. The glass disk is generally supported on the shaft hub by just 15% of the surface area and has a thickness of 0.030". In addition, these units commonly require a relatively narrow air gap (typically 0.002") between the disk and sensor in order to properly calibrate the signal. Because of this combination, a small amount of side loading (force from installation requirements, vibration, shock, or other conditions) to move the shaft enough for the attached disk to make contact with the sensor or some other portion of the stationary PCB. The result is damage to the disk or sensor, or even disk breakage.</p>

<p><strong>Then, what's the solution?</strong></p>
<p align="left">When design engineers at EPC set out to design a better Size 2.5” encoder, their goal was to solve the typical problems without affecting the price of the encoder. The result - the Model 725N, a Size 2.5” encoder worthy of the Accu-Coder name. The first goal was to make it more difficult for shaft movement from side load to cause damage. Using EPC's advanced sensor technology, the air gap between the disk and sensor doubled from 0.002" to 0.004", and the disk diameter was reduced from 2.0" to 1.3". The next goal was to increase the durability of the disk itself. Disk thickness was more than doubled (from 0.030" to 0.062"), manufactured using EPC's proprietary process, and supported by 30% of the disk surface area. Finally, it was time to improve the resistance to side load movement altogether, so the 725N was given dual heavy-duty bearings, generously spaced to disperse the load over a larger portion of the shaft.</p>
<p align="left">But EPC's innovative engineering team wasn't satisfied. They really wanted to solve the problems of a truly rough environment. What they designed was the Model 725I - The industrial 725 housing option, an encoder that is as robust as possible within its price category. Using the improvements developed in the 725N, EPC's engineering team developed the "encoder-within-an-encoder" design. With this design, the 725I adds two extra, heavy-duty bearings to the two contained within the internal encoder for a total of four bearings! These two extra bearing sets are separated in such a way that side load stresses become isolated between the two bearing sets and never reach the inner encoder. In addition, the internal encoder is mounted to the 725I's housing using EPC's pioneering flex mount, further isolating the internal optics and electronics from outside forces.</p>

Stiamo parlando di un modello con monitor integrato da 3,6'' in grado di leggere un po' tutti i formati attualmente disponibili, dall'mp3 ai DivX sia su supporto CD che DVD.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">E' possibile che il file .flv contenga una audiocodec che non può essere transcodificato. In tal caso esistono delle alternative... un po' più complicate... cambiate filmato!!!! :-)</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Per iniziare la codifica cliccate sul pulsante <strong>Encode</strong></p>

Il file .avi viene compresso con il codec divx di FFmpeg.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">A questo punto potete eseguite le operazioni per ogni filmato a cui siete interessati e masterizzate il tutto su cd o DVD...tenete presente che un file di questo tipo con una lunghezza media di 3-4 minuti occupo circa dai 40 ai 60 MEGABYTE...</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p class="MsoNormal">From time to time I watch videos on my iPod Touch and N95-8GB, the trouble has been that videos created for the iPod either won’t play on the N95 or they don’t play well. Yesterday I spent the afternoon downloading and testing various video encoders to try and find one that created a file that plays well on both and I have found IMO the best two for the job. My criteria for the encoders were that they must be quick, create a video file that plays equally well on both devices and most importantly, it must be able to create a video in exactly the same aspect ratio as the original. It’s no good if the final video is 320x240 and it keeps the aspect ratio by adding black bars top and bottom because this then means it won’t work properly on the Touch in full screen mode.<!--more--></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Converting AVI, MPG etc.</b><br />
I couldn’t find a freeware program that I liked, so I finally settled on <a href="http://www.winavi.com/en/psp-3gp-mp4/ipod-video-converter.htm">WinAvi</a>. It has several profiles to convert video for iPods, PSP and also 3gp and MP4 formats. I found that using the MP4 profile with audio set to 96, video bitrate set at 512 and for video size I chose original video size this produced a decent quality video that plays just as well on both devices. It also has batch encoding and its fast, a 45 minute TV episode was done in about 8 minutes.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><b>Ripping and Encoding DVD</b><br />
This time I found a freeware solution using <a href="http://handbrake.fr/">Handbrake</a>. Handbrake wont work on copy protected DVD’s so first they have to be ripped to your hard drive using something like <a href="http://www.dvdshrink.org/">DVD Shrink</a> or DVD Decryptor, both freeware. With Handbrake I used the iPod Touch profile but changed the encoder from H.264 to Mpeg4, video bit rate set to 512 and audio to 96. With handbrake you can just specify the width of the output video and it will adjust the height accordingly so as to maintain the original aspect ration.</p>

<p class="MsoNormal">I’m very pleased with the end result of both programs, they both produce a video that looks great on the Touch and N95 8GB. I don’t plug either device into a TV to watch movies though I did test it with the N95, the quality was acceptable on a 28” though If I watched on a TV more often I’d use a higher video bit rate, I used 512 because it keeps the file size down and produces a decent on device video quality.</p>
