Some people my age might be a little frightened to be home all alone, but I really enjoy it. For a few hours, I can do what I please, which is mostly just writing and reading, but without ANY interruptions. Another plus about being by myself is that I don't have to fight the urge to burst out in song. I can walk around the house belting my guts out, and not feel self conscious at all. The place I usually sing my heart out is in the shower, but when nobody is around I belt it out wherever. I can sit here at the computer desk, and sing as I type.

Sometimes I feel stupid and wonder if the neighbors can hear my voice, but honestly, who cares if they do? Are they going to come up to me and tell me that they heard me singing? Probably not. I do my best singing when I am all by my lonesome, with only my two dogs and cat to keep me company. They are the only audience that really gets a taste of my voice.

Now, what is it that I sing when I am alone? Well, I belt out whatever meets my fancy. Mostly it's some Paramore, but we musn't forget Evanescence, Flyleaf, 1997, Automatic Loveletter, Hawthorne Heights, t.A.T.u., New Years Day, Garbage, and Autumns Monologue by From Autumn To Ashes. I love singing Paramore songs because Hayley's voice is much like my own, and I love trying to match Amy Lee's voice whenever I sing My Immortal, Hello, or Lithium. I find it challenging to sing Lacey Mosley's parts, but I have fun trying.

One of these days, I want to put videos of me singing on YouTube. I like listening to other girls my age singing some of my favorite songs, but I cannot help but think that I could do a better job than they can. Hopefully someday soon, I will be able to prove myself, but I doubt my mother would approve of it. I will probably have to wait until college to begin videotaping myself singing.

Once they pull out of the driveway, I open my mouth and out comes something not very many people have heard. I sing rather conservatively in public, but when I am in the shower, or home by myself, I let it all out. I love getting home from camping because then I can finally lock myself in the bathroom and get all of the singing out I couldn't do while we were all camping together. I hope to someday make a career out of this little hobby of mine. Only time will tell...

Well, over the last day or so i moved. I packed all my earthly possessions (well, most of them) into my good ol' Jeep and drove three hours up to school. I am now living in our Ministry House for His House Christian Fellowship and I am taking a major role in the ministry this year! :) I am crazy excited!

Anyways, after some unpacking last night i needed to take a trip to Walmart and while i was there i found one of the albums on the list.

"Flyleaf (Re-release/Special Edition)" - Flyleaf

Back when this album originally came out i downloaded it. I really like their sound. I was not into very many bands with female vocalists at the time and this album was actually refreshing and still pretty heavy. The lead singer can scream as well as any guy, and she has a really strong, pretty singing voice. They have some really great songs on this album and they are pretty up front about their faith in God. Surprisingly, i've watched this band get pretty popular in the secular world, which is a great opportunity for them (plus it makes it possible to find their album at Walmart ;) ) This re-release comes with a couple acoustic tracks and a DVD of those acoustic tracks being performed along with all Flyleaf's music videos. Definately worth it for the price. Price Paid: $10

I will be busy getting settled in for the rest of the week. While i am doing all this unpacking i'm using Ruckus to check out some new bands so i may have some new albums to add to the hunt list pretty soon. Until then, Peace out y'all!

One of my favorite music groups has a new CD release. I went out at lunch time to pick up my pre-ordered copy of Revelation by Third Day. I have been listening to it throughout the day and I have found a new song from them that I could listen to over and over again - Born Again. I wish I could let you hear it now cause it just speaks to me. It reminds me of that first love that Christ calls us to in the book of Revelations.

Lacey Moseley of Flyleaf joins Mac Powell on this song and she sounds great.

Here are a few words from the chorus of the song:

It feels like I'm born again
It feels like I'm living
for the very first time
I'm living for the first time
It feels like I'm breathing
It feels like I'm moving
For the very first time
I'm living for the very first time
In my life

Isn't that what it feels like when we are in the center of God's will? ALIVE !! I desire to feel that alive every day - what about you? What makes you feel alive?

By the way, Chris Daughtry of American Idol fame provides background vocals on Slow Down from this CD.

On our way out of town, we stopped by a family christian bookstore (God Bless the Manager), hoping to score Third Day's latest: "Revelation". To be honest I've never been a big Third Day fan, but they have really grown on me the last couple of years.

I'm impressed with it, this is the kinda album that you appreciate more on the second time around, and since I drove for some 4 hours last night I listened to it twice. Lyrically it also is very good with songs like Revelation and Call My Name, and the last track "Take it All".

The song "Born Again" is nice ballad featuring Lacey Mosley of flyleaf. I've never liked flyleaf, probably because someone in my youth group compared them to Switchfoot (one of my favorites), but she really sounds good though in this duet with Mac Powell of Third Day. I'll have to give Flyleaf another chance someday lol.

All of this to say I'd recommend the CD.

By Clay W. Ginn - Back in 1995, sitting in my dorm room at college, one of my friends came in and said "You've gotta hear this band! They're awesome!" He yanks out whatever was in my CD player at the time, tosses it aside, and sticks in a disc by a group of guys I'd never heard of. They had a distinctive sound, at least compared to what was on the Christian scene at the time. While so many bands have come and gone in the subsequent years, Third Day has continued to grow musically, spiritually, and in popularity. Three Grammy awards, 23 Dove awards, 10 studio albums, and 13 years later the Georgia-based band release their 11th album, Revelation.

The first half of this album rocks. "This Is Who I Am" is a raucous kick-start to the album, relying on hard-strumming acoustic guitar, heavy drums, and the electric sound so many are used to hearing. The next track, "Slow Down", brings the Revelation train back a gear, but not by much. This song, which also features Chris Daughtry, is a well-crafted plea that all of us could heed, to slow down and let God take over.

"Call My Name", released back in April as a single, is mellow and melodic, while maintaining a solid guitar backbone. It plays out like a love song from Jesus to us. Hard-driving drums introduce "Run To You", steadily keeping time to this discordant and quite beautiful song. The title track, "Revelation", begins with a piano solo, but is quickly joined by the rest of the band. "Give me a revelation/I've got nothing without you" is the central theme of the song, asking God for a fresh view of His grace. Closing out the first half of the album is "Otherside", a bluesy, Clapton-esqe tune that reminds me a great deal of the song "Blackbird" from their 1995 major label debut.

The second half of Revelation eases up off the throttle, retaining the classic Third Day sound, but with a lighter quality. "Let Me Love You" is a breezy, radio-ready love song, which would probably get heavy airplay on mainstream radio. The catchy "I Will Always Be True" has the same basic qualities as the previous song, with just a little harder edge. Not that it's a bad song, it's just odd that two songs with such similarities would be back-to-back on the album. "Born Again", a duet with Flyleaf's Lacey Mosely, describes a journey from the realization by the singer that he isn't a good as he thought he was, to the feeling of being born again.

Bluegrass makes an appearance in "Give Love", which gives way to "Caught Up In Yourself", a steady, almost James Bond-sounding cautionary tale to those of us who have a hard time surrendering ourselves to God. "Ready" returns Third Day to their rock roots, driving the album steadily to its final song, "Take It All". Nearly a praise chorus, the lyrics are a plea to God to "Take it all/Cause I can't take it any longer/With all I have/I can't make it on my own/Take the first, take the last/Take the good and take the rest/Here I am, all I have/Take it all".

Overall, Revelation is a good album. The music is a maturation of the classic Southern rock Third Day is known for to something more modern, all while maintaining their identity. Topped with Mac Powell's inimitable voice, Third Day has the ingredients for another hugely popular and artistic album. The only complaint that I have is that it seemed to get down into a rut in the middle of the disc. Revelation is a worthy addition to your music collection whether you are a old Third Day fan or a new one.

"Fall for You" by Secondhand Serenade from the album A Twist in My Story: A nice little love song with some great piano mixed with other instruments. Currently the #20 song on iTunes.

"All Around Me" by Flyleaf from the album Flyleaf: Currently the #97 song on iTunes, "All Around Me" is a great song that is contemporary rock, if there is such a thing.

"Already Over" by Red from the album End of Silence: The follow-up to "Breathe Into Me"; another piano intro that leads into some good rock.

"Slow Down" by Third Day featuring Chris Daughtry from the album Revelation: I was fortunate enough to get a pre-release copy of the new CD, and this track is the best.

"September" by Spoken from the album Last Chance to Breathe: Spoken is making an appearance on the Guitar Praise in September (imagine that). I don't know which song, but this wouldn't be a bad chance.

This seems like the best topic to go with today. Now I could pay homage to past stars like Pat Benatar and Heart, but I again went with my favorites. And, I kept it in the Rock/Alternative genre, I don't wanna get into how well Christina Aguilara sings or how popular Carrie Underwood is.

10. Sharon Den Adel (Within Temptation) - This Dutch band caught my attention a while back. Its the traditional hot-chick with guys backing her. Listen to the single "What Have You Done". This band picks up where Evanescence left off. I'll take her over Amy Lee anyday...and I don't have to be sober. [favorite work - What Have You Done]

9. Angela Gossow (Arch Enemy) - Sweedish death metal, fronted by a German blonde. This woman's vocals are sick. I can't imagine she isn't tearing up her vocal chords with that sound. [favorite work - Silent Wars]

8. Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) - While more pop than rock, No Doubt still falls into one of my favorite female fronted bands. Although, I don't like Gwen's solo stuff so much. [favorite work - Hella Good]

7. Lacey Mosley (Flyleaf) - She would be higher on my list, but I caught a video of her singing live and it was terrible. But the way Flyleaf took over alternative radio with "I'm so Sick" and "Fully Alive", I had to keep them on this list. They probably are one of those bands that is thankful for a good producer. [favorite work - Breathe Today]

6. Avril Lavigne (band-named-after-her) - No, I won't call her music punk. So don't worry there. But she makes that "punk" outfit look good. She wears mascara well. She rocks just enough to be kinda cool. You can't tell me that there weren't a ton of guys that wished "Girlfriend" and "Sk8ter Boi" were written about them. [favorite work - Girlfriend]

5. Cassandra Ford (Vincent Black Shadow) - Think No Doubt with a lot more black. There's a good chance you haven't heard of this band. If you have, you're lucky...if not, you have the internet, use it. [favorite work - Control]

4. Hayley Williams (Paramore) - She's young, pretty, and full of energy. She more than makes up for the annoying hairdoos of her bandmates. Paramore came in with a blast, being voted "best new artists" in a lot of polls. They took over Avril's pop-punk market and seeped into Flyleaf's rock market too. [favorite work - Misery Business]

3. Morgan Lander (Kittie) - Kittie was one of the first female-metal bands to hit mainstream. They have a good sound, mixing singing with screaming. This 4-woman band has boasted 11 current and former members. [favorite work - Brackish]

2. Maria Brink (In This Moment) - I'm a little bit biased on this one, because I got to meet and do a radio interview with her and guitarist Chris Howorth. But still, I think this is one of the coolest new bands in hard rock. Maria has a fairly good scream and a good singing voice. [favorite work - Prayers]

1. Otep Shamaya (Otep) - Otep takes scary and badass to a new level. She's a very gritty song writer, with some disturbing lyrics. She's got an awesome scream and a growl other females could never achieve. Otep does a pretty cool cover of Nirvana's "Breed" [favorite work - Ghostflowers]

So whats up with all you music lovers out there? this blog is where you can come to hang with other lovers of the music! just an fyi, i love getting comments!

so paramore is going on tour again this summer, it will be the last tour for riot! so if you haven't seen them yet you need to because they are amazing in concert, better then a lot of bands you see in concert. i haven't seen them but if you are a major obsessor like me then you will have gone on youtube and looked them up in concert! Speaking of concerts, has anyone been to a new found glory one? I have seen videos of them and they are seriously intense, not like death metal or anything, but they do have there fair share of slam dancers and crowd surfers.

SO now is when i talk about music videos! Yay music videos! Flyleaf came out with a new one slightly recently for their song "sorrow" i love the song and the video, here it is:

It is a slightly creepy video but i still love it!!! am i the only one who noticed that flyleaf videos like to have people drowning in them? Well she was drowning in "breathe today" also.

so i think i am going to rap up this post. but tell me if you like the banner at the top, ok?

So I've had Flyleaf in my iTunes collection for a long time (about a year and a half). I can't believe that I never took the time to hear this album. I can truly say that I'm astonished and very much surprised by the quality and the weight that these guys bring to the table. Not only is their music awesome (musically speaking), but the passion, drive, and motives are impressive. They are CLEARLY not ashamed about their faith and they make it very clear on their entire album.

My personal favorite is: "All Around Me" which talks about a very deep intimate worship experience between Lacey Mosley (or whoever relates) and God. Not many people understand why you would sing those lyrics to God, other than the ones that have actually gone through this type of experience. Lacey describes that intimacy so beautifully. I really hope that people are touched by this level of intimacy with the uncreated One.

Here's "All Around Me"

My hands are searching for you
My arms are outstretched towards you
I feel you on my fingertips
My tongue dances behind my lips for you

This fire rising through my being
Burning I'm not used to seeing you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

My hands float up above me
And you whisper you love me
And I begin to fade
Into our secret place

The music makes me sway
The angels singing say we are alone with you
I am alone and they are too with you

I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

And so I cry
The light is white
And I see you

I'm alive, I'm alive, I'm alive

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healing

Take my hand
I give it to you
Now you own me
All I am
You said you would never leave me
I believe you
I believe

I can feel you all around me
Thickening the air I'm breathing
Holding on to what I'm feeling
Savoring this heart that's healed

Driving home today, listening to loud music in my car, I came across a realization. I LOVE a good bridge. Now, the chorus is supposed to be the cool, catchy part of the song, but what makes a song for me is the bridge. That's the part that really gets me going. There's so many things that artists do with a bridge too. It's the place to have a key change, a guitar solo, a buildup, alternate lyrics, etc. I thought I would share just a few of my favorites, so you can check them out for yourself.

Avenged Sevenfold - Beast and the Harlot (3:26-4:19) Starts with a little build-up, then gets right into it. Basically my favorite thing to play in guitar hero.

Disturbed - Down with the Sickness (3:07-4:05) This breakdown has one of the most riduculously angry rants in all of music.

Enter Shikari - Ok, Time for Plan B (3:06-End) This bridge has basically all the elements of a bridge in one, it starts with a build up, its got alternate lyrics, more angst, a break down, a heavier riff and it also makes for a great time to mention the name of the song.

Flyleaf - Breathe Today(2:01-2:17) This one is short and sweet. My favorite Flyleaf song, and that's because of her scream that takes place within those 16 seconds.

Future Leaders of the World - Kill Pop(2:40-end) This one has a great little speed part that gets faster and faster...until a triplet breaks it down to half time.

Inbubus - Nebula(2:09-3:00) Its all psycadelic for a while, then has one of the most aggressive riffs I've heard Incubus do.

Korn - Freak on a Leash (2:33-3:29) Classic Korn, Jonathan Davis at his best. Screaming god knows what, but everyone seemed to love that part.

Limp Bizkit - Sanatarium (2:33-end) Sure, in this cover of metallica's Welcome Home, you have to deal with a little Durst speak, but it's well worth it. DJ Lethal does an impressive job of scratching his way though the solo.

Rage Against the Machine - Ghost of Tom Joad(3:26-4:54) Basically Tom Morrello is the god of bridges, listen to any RATM or Audioslave and you'll hear awesome bridges.

There's so many more that I want to include, but I was going to try to stay away from doing a list today, and yet...

I wanted to also mention Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody...but I couldn't really label a bridge...the whole damn song is a bridge, and it all rocks. So, remember there's nothing like a good bridge. I'd also be interested to check out any of your suggestions.

Where to start, where to start.
I have no idea where to start. So, I guess I'll just start at the top of the list I wrote on the sticky-note (to be able to remember everything I need to cover). I warn you right now, it's in-depth, covering things I've NEVER gone over before. Which is gonna be hard for me to do, but I need to. Well, I don't NEED to, but I do.

First, when was the last time I talked to Spencer? I'm pretty sure it was the time he saw, on this blog, that I liked Scott. And the fight about it."Fight" about it. And that post is password protected. FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO READ: the password is "2006", just without the ""s. =D.
Anyway, I haven't heard from him since then. A little before then, he had said that he would post on one of his other blogs about how much he loved me and all that. Well, that one blog hasn't been posted on since, oh, five months ago? Ha, funny, right? So, I commented on it....For old times sake, to remind him that I'm here, and know what's up with his bullshit.

This is what I said:

"Someone sure is gung-ho about posting, aren't they....Especially AFTER they said they would.....But, of course, that's the way it goes, isn't it. You say one thing, and do another...Everything is for Spencer and Spencer alone, for the here and now, doesn't matter what anyone thinks, doesn't matter how anyone feels. That's the way you work, isn't it. I've noticed. Sad, really...Sad that I didn't see it a long time ago.
Oh well.
The best to you and Jenn. Because, of course, you love her to pieces, don't you. Don't you."

We shall see what happens with that.

Next!

My download status. By that, I mean my song downloading.
I've been goin' crazy with it. And, what I'm getting is kinda scary.
Since Friday.....I've gotten these

Katy Perry: I Kissed A Girl

Vanilla Ice: Ice Ice Baby

Haddaway: What Is Love

Smash Mouth: Walkin' On The Sun

Unknown: Internet Love Song (She Friggin' Blocked Me)

Flyleaf: All Around Me

Live: Lightning Crashes

Hinder: Better Than Me

Hinder: Lips Of An Angel

Now, them last 5, not including the Live song, are, um, not my taste. Not usually anyway, but damn, they sure are good. And by good, I mean, I think I like them now. I remember at the Valentine's Day Dance sophomore year, um, me and Christina totally based "lips of an angel", and I normally don't like girl singers for rock music, which is what Flyleaf is...But it's okay now.
I don't know, just, not right for me to like them.
And then, I love the Katy Perry song....=D
I don't know, it could be because of that, which I'll be getting into later....

Next!

I have no idea how, but someone found my blog. And by someone, I mean someone (not someone, as in a certain someone, just someone). They've commented a few times, and I've commented on theirs. And, of course, if they come back sometime and read this, they'll probably be really creeped out, but I don't care. I can't not say something about it. Which, well, I have to.
They remind me of someone. A little too much.
He reminds me of, I gotta say it, reminds me of Falcon. A lot like Falcon. The getting in trouble, the not worried about pissing people off, the fighting part, all of it. Okay, other than the make-out thing, and the thing in church, but the rest of it is just like Falcon.
It's really, really annoying too.
Well, we'll get there later too.

Next!

Finally, the big one. The weird one, the crazy one. The OH MY FUCKING GOD one.
Here goes nothing....

Whether you knew it or not, I fight myself a lot. In my head. Battling between this one "entity" and this other "entity". They're not separate identities, just different from each other. So, there's this angry one, always beating the other one up. And then the one that gets beat up is scared and insecure and all that. So, they fight all the time.
On Saturday, I felt it coming on, so I just started writing what they were "saying" down. They both had their own colors, so I could see who was who, you know. So, anyway, the blue one (the sad one) was all pissed of at the green one (the angry one) because the green one always ruins everything. Then the green one comes back with stuff about how the blue one is a bitch and a "loozer" and all that.
Then, out of nowhere, I gotta switch to red, because there's a new person. So, this red one starts out saying how everyone hates me, but then says "don't have me, because I love you" and all that. It goes on and on about it loves me.....It was weird. It has bad grammar too.
So then, I take a break, nothing is really going on. And so, I write about how I love Scott. Then, the green one comes in about how Scott would never love me, nobody could love me, blah blah blah. Then he blue one comes with that "yes he could" and the green one said "he doesn't" and the red one says that it loves me no matter what.
Then the green one gets it in it's head (no pun intended, ha ha ha, I made a funny...anyway) to start talking about cutting and shit like that. And so it has to get that out of its system.
Then the blue one comes in with this whole thing about it loves this one girl, and goes on and on about her, and then how she doesn't exist, she's only in my imagination. The green one comes back with stuff about how that's so sad, that it loves an imaginary person. And the red one says that the green one is a freak and that its just jealous. The green one says that its not jealous, because nobody will ever love it and its okay with that.
And then it's done, for a few hours.
And then the blue one comes back, saying it wants the girl in my mind, and saying how it loves Scott so much. The green one tells the "girl" that the blue one is obsessed with her, and that Scott couldn't love me cuz I'm too complicated. And the red one says that the green one needs to leave and is an asshole.

So now its Sunday, and the red one is up first, saying how it loves me, and the then the green one comes and says how it doesn't hate me, just the blue one needs to see that I'm not all that well off. Oh, backtrack, sorry,I had a dream about Falcon Saturday night. Well, half of Falcon was in it anyway. So ya, the green one says something about the dream, and how I miss him. The blue one says that the dream was weird, and that I do miss Falcon, even if it's weird. The green says that yes, I'm a mess. Then there's a black one (it's new, which is the overseer, just watching all of it) and says that this is confusing.
So then the blue one of goes off, about how I love Scott, and miss Falcon. And then the green one come about how nobody could love me because I'm too difficult and all that. So they go back and forth about that, and the green one says that I need to change some things so someone can love me. So, then they make a list, and the blue one says its impossible, and someone should love me for who I am, I shouldn't have to change, so then the green one is all, "ya, right, see how that goes."
So then the green one comes back a little later, going on about how I love Scott, and this imaginary girl, and I miss Falcon, and then the blue comes on about how I can't help it all and the blue one comes saying that at least I love someone, "At least she's got some1 2 love, unlike you". And the green one says "but that's it -- she doesn't HAVE anyone to love." And so the red one says that at least she loves someone and doesn't hate everyone like the green one does. And then the blue one comes out with that's the reason why the green one is so bad, becuase it won't let anyone love it, won't let anyone come close enough, too scared of it. The green one admits it, and then says but at least I don't end up being pushed around, but the blue one comes with "but at least I get love and give love."
And then they calm down, and the blue one goes on about how that's why the green one is always pushing everyone away, because it doesn't want to have to pick up the pieces of a broken heart after the heartbreak it thinks is inevitable. "By being your angry self, you were trying to protect me...Sneaky" the blue one says. The green one admits it, but says that it's not gone, it just is all figured out now. And to make it all better, the red one says how it's proud of me for figuring it out and loves me.

Crazy, right? I got it all written down too....So, I have proof. And, now, you do too.
Last night, after all of this, it was crazy. Like normal, after a low, I get "high". It was weird. I was sad and happy all at the same time, half cried twice, laughed my head off, and then was all tired and excited and keyed up all at the same time. It was weird.

Today i was going through my blog bookmarks and I read Angie's blog about flyleaf and the song "All Around Me" and I realized how much I really do like this band. Then i youtubed them and found the interview below and now they are pretty much my favorite band. They don't hide the fact that they are singing for and praising Jesus through their music and they do it in an entertaining way that appeals to everyone no matter if you are a Christian or not. Flyleaf is a band that is truly making a difference and spreading Jesus all over the world. Mad props to Flyleaf!!! Check out this video.
