Google Chrome na Windows przedstawia się bardzo ciekawie. Wszystko jest zautomatyzowane, działa płynnie, animuje się. Kolory są przyjazne, nie jaskrawe, nie jakieś rażące w oczy. Jest tak, jak powinno być :) I tak jest ok...

Na początku ściągnąłem pliczek instalacyjny przeglądarki. Ku mojemu zdziwieniu zajmuje ok. 200 - 300 kb. No to miło się zapowiada. Uruchomiłem i zdarzyło się to, czego się spodziewałem. Zaczął się download plików instalacyjnych przeglądarki i zautomatyzowana instalacja. Jeśli mamy już np. Firefoxa to Chrome będzie chciał pobrać do siebie historię... Możemy odznaczyć tą opcję, czyli o wszystkim decyduje użytkownik...

Ciekawostką i innowacją w świecie przeglądarek niewątpliwie jest sposób działania kart. Każda karta w przeglądarce, to oddzielny proces. Jeśli jedna karta będzie się zacinała np. przy otwieraniu jakiejś aplikacji we Flashu, to inne będą działały prawidłowo i bez zastrzeżeń. Przemieszczanie pomiędzy kartami jest łatwe i przy tym szybkie...

Ściąganie plików także jest wygodne. Nie otwierają się dodatkowe okienka.

Zaciekawiła mnie fukcja Incognito, która pozwala na anonimowość na danym komputerze.

Po zamknięciu okna incognito na komputerze nie zostanie po nich żaden ślad np. w postaci plików cookie. Zachowane zostaną jednak pobrane pliki lub utworzone zakładki.

Prawda, że ciekawe?

Miejsce POBRANE PLIKI, to zbiór wszystkich plików, które pobraliśmy ostatnimi czasy.

Oprócz tego otworzymy także konsolę JavaScript, Menedżer zadań, zmienimy kodowanie strony...

Czkam więc na wersję dla Linuxa, a użytkownikom Windowsa przeglądarkę Google Chrome jak najbardziej polecam!

The second one (Inside GTA IV or "IGTA" as they call it) isn't a story based machinima as such, but is more of a "how to" or documentary of GTA 4 and how to machinimate using it. It does have it's funny moments though :D

It's interesting to think about how much was content was put on to a single disc for this game. All the missions, side missions, side-side missions, voice acting, character animations, and so on, are all amazing. And to think, there are games out there like Avatar: The Last Airbender, that are about as deep as a sheet of paper.

The only real complaint that I can come up with GTA4 is how repetitive it is. Drive here, shoot these guys, do it again, then do it again. That's not really a complaint with this individual game, though, but with the series as a whole. We knew what we were getting into when we started it.

Like the other GTA games before it, I can almost guarantee that I won't finish this title. Matter of fact, I gave this game a few hours, just enough time to get a feel for and appreciate everything it had to offer, and nonchalantly decided to play a different game. And there's the rub. This game got so many things right - the intricacies of human interaction (now with dating!), a mostly true-to-life feel, and bowling - but these are all things I can experience while playing this other game I like to call real life. In other words, I play games to shoot monsters, rock out in front of a million fans, or explore fantasy worlds. The thought of delivering drugs and shooting random people that may or may not deserve it doesn't quite float my boat.

I respect the game, and I think that it's 100% my fault for not playing it. That and I'm not good at video games in general, so when I have to restart a mission because I messed it up, only to find that I have to drive across town just to get things rolling again, I'm turned off. It's not you, Rockstar, it's me, but either way you made an awesome game that I'll probably never play.

Last month I, like most of you out there I'm sure, popped GTA4 in to my chosen current-gen gaming console for the first time, cracked open a frosty Ecto Cooler and sank in to my luxurious fox and mink skin lined davenport sofa with a grin, prepared for some serious time on the streets of LC. As excited as I was to see how fun this game was going to be, my shadenfreudenistic side was waiting to seize on the first of many colossal fuck ups that I was sure were waiting just past the title screen. I chalk this up to my recent disappointments in gaming, but that's for another time. I'm kind of a completest but I never played a GTA for the story or to get to the end, only for the 'splosions. So I was worried about committing to a game that is known for being much played but often unfinished. I'm happy to say that GTA4 delivered on almost all fronts.

There are moments in the game when you forget just how grand Grand Theft Auto is. Then you call up Brucie and hit the skies in a chopper and you are met with a view of what can only be described as the best simulation of a living breathing city anyone has seen to date. The graphics were top notch, the story was compelling, the acting was true, the city was teeming with people and I had a genuinely great time with the game. It's kind of difficult to encompass all of the good things about GTA4 in a review, If you've played it then you know what I mean. For some strange reason it's easier to point out it's flaws. With a game as epic in scope as this, it's really easy to understand how the loss of fine controls can happen. Jacking a taxi instead of getting in as a passenger can utterly ruin a long mission when you're almost at the end of it, resulting in a long, boring and angry replay. Getting in the wrong car, shooting at enemies who are already dead (or non-combatant civilians) and the wide, slushy plodding of Niko errantly trying to wind his way up a spiral staircase is enough to make me bite my controller in half. Also, everyone has melty-wax faces a la Bioshock. But, I'm not mad at Rockstar. They did too much awesomeness to be bashed for a few nagging trivialities.

In with a shot (aimed at its own head) at number 5, The Smiths' "I Know It's Over"!

How could this NOT be in a list of depressing, lovelorn songs? Depressing and lovelorn lyrics is what The Smiths do best; Morrissey could patent the art of sounding like he's spent the evening crying and writing poetry about a lost lover in his room. (Fuck, he even referenced it himself in "Ask" - "Writing frightening verse/To a bucktoothed girl in Luxembourg" - he wins for sheer audacity alone.) Even the name signifies that this is NOT a happy song. The title signifies misery and loathing and all the other fun stuff, and the lyrics could make the most hardened nasty bastard ever feel a slight pang of sympathy, even AFTER he realised that the bloke who wrote them used to gad around wearing a hearing aid with flowers sticking out his arse.
Crowning moment of misery: Oh, the whole fucking song. Like I said, nobody does misery better than The Smiths. Rumour has it that the first successful SSRI antidepressant, Prozac, was developed to counteract their influence. Not really.

Freezing it up at number 4, Porcupine Tree's "Russia On Ice"!

Steven Wilson (from hereonin called "Stevie" because it's funny) excelled himself with this four hundred year long prog rock opus, about drinking yourself silly and calling up your ex and feeling bad. Personally I think it's miserable because the poor twat is drinking neat vodka - who the FUCK drinks neat vodka? If you're going to do shots of something, do whisky, or mix selfsame with coke or ginger ale and drink it down. Vodka just tastes like shit, which emphasises the misery - since being left, he's been so penniless he's had to buy Sainsbury's Basics Vodka, whereas previously he had delicious Maker's Mark bourbon. There's also some stuff about a failed relationship in there, and some suitably dramatic strings. But yeah, the alcohol's the main bit.
Crowning moment of misery: The string crescendo at the beginning of the second chorus. You can almost feel the now-alcoholic Stevie bursting into tears and soiling himself. Well, not the latter bit, anyway. I hope.

Fuck me! Number 3's Godley and Creme's "Cry"!

Now this is proper depressing shit, right here. It's so depressing they didn't even bother writing anything except a single verse, thinking that would put the underlying sense of desolation across well enough. The song is even named "Cry", and it's about crying and tears and cheating and lies. You can tell because those four words make up pretty much the whole song. You know how you can make any Dragonforce song ever by simply strumming random chords and shouting the words FIRE, FREE, FLAMES and FREEDOM over and over again really really fast? Godley and Creme WENT FORWARD IN FUCKING TIME and stole that approach for "Cry", being magical time travelling rock warriors and all. Don't watch the video though, because Godley's got a really friendly looking face, like Bob Ross, and Creme looks like someone took Paul McCartney and spliced him with Roger Waters, which totally spoils the effect. Extra bonus points for being produced by J.J. Jeczalik of Art Of Noise, who I presume wore one of those frowny AON masks throughout the entire mixing process. You know, sort of like in this picture.
Crowning moment of misery: Hearing it in GTA4 and driving through Liberty City really slowly in the rain. It was MADE for this shit.

Locked in a padded cell at number 2, Pink Floyd with "The Final Cut"!

Pink Floyd's album The Final Cut was much maligned, with some saying bassist and vocalist Roger Waters was locking everyone out of the recording process and trying to be the leader of the band. But, in this song, we can forgive him, because now, we feel his deep pain. Roger Waters is sad and alone and he wants us all to know. He wants us to share in his unhappiness, and talk to him; just once, just so he can feel a connection to another person. He wants to show you his "dark side" and hopes you won't "send [him] packing". He wants to tell you what it's like seeing "through the fish eyed lens of tear stained eyes" (his loneliness is so epically huge that his eyes are actually STAINED WITH TEARS. That's dedication, right there.) He wonders aloud, "Could anybody love him, or is it just a crazy dream?". The answer, sadly, is no. But before leaving Pink Floyd, he could be happy, save in the knowledge that he's written and sung one of the most depressing dirges ever made. The song even ends with an attempted suicide. HARDCORE.
Crowning moment of misery: Occurred about 2 years after the release of the song, when Waters went from writing decent lyrics to making Radio KAOS, an album that makes no sense whatsoever and at any rate isn't very good. But that's another blog post, for another time. Basically, I'd have preferred he actually did slit his wrists than write that turd.

POW! That's the sound of Radiohead shooting themselves (with music!) at number 1 with "All I Need"!

"Quelle surprise!" some might say to Radiohead being named as depressive. But, really, I wouldn't class a lot of their music as "depressing" - thoughtful, maybe, pessimistic, perhaps, but depressing? Nah. All I Need, however, takes the piss. In Rainbows features numerous examples of Thom Yorke changing his focus from slagging off consumerism and war, and instead he now wants to tell us all about failed and strained relationships - "House of Cards" does the same thing, but it's nowhere near as depression-tastic as "All I Need". Obsessive, unrequited love? Check. Repeated allegories to actual physical suffering? Check. He even comes right out and says "I only stick with you because there are no others", which on the loneliness and depression scale zooms right up to the top, above even my Facebook statuses after I've drunk too much "Scottish lemonade". Its only problem - its Achilles' heel, if you like - is that the opening drumbeat sounds a little bit like "Hard Knock Life" by Jay-Z, and once you've decided that it sounds like "Hard Knock Life" by Jay-Z, you're going to forever associate the song with little kids singing with a rapper, which is perhaps not what Thom Yorke intended. Oh well. It still thoroughly deserves its place at No. 1, for being an extremely depressing and lovelorn song on an album chock full of depressing, lovelorn songs. Well done, Radiohead. Don't do it again.
Crowning moment of misery: The bit at the end where Thom starts shouting and wailing and SCREAMING because he's so VERY VERY SAD AND JUST WANTS TO BE LOVED. Can you do that, Morrissey? No, you fucking can't.

On a separate but somewhat related note, GTA4 for the PC will require players to use Games for Windows Live in order to play multiplayer.  Amazing, just when you thought Microsoft couldn't control your computer experience anymore, they find new ways of bending you over.

We all l know that the marketplace for games is now much more crowded than it has ever ben before, especially for action games of both 1st and 3rd person aspects. due to this crowding, we get the gimmick as developers fumble around to try and create something which stands out rom the crowd. It's not difficult of course, in a world where any FPS released on the power consoles or PC will have the same M.O as most others (you are a *insert elite military branch* fighting your way through wave upon wave of *insert alien race* in a grey brown landscape of the future earth or alien homeworld; all running in glorious 720p 60fps with a 8/16 player online deathmatch mode) anything other than this stands out as a gimmick. The problem is that in many of this type of game, the gimmick becomes dominant as a sales technique but in terms of gameplay it is either underused or annoyingly overused.

Maybe you are asking what I am talking about, what exactly qualifies as a gimmick? A few of my favourites are listed below;

• Haze (you take drugs)
• Timeshift (you control time)
• Fracture (you control the ground)
• The Darkness (you have big devil arm things)
• Mace Griffin bounty hunter (you fly a ship and walk off it without loading screens)

The gimmicks in all the games listed above have at one stage accomplished their goal because we have all heard of them and no doubt at some point have read an overexcited preview from some publication or another crowning its gimmick as being revolutionary to the genre but have ultimately been shown to be anything but. The problem is that all these games above fail in 2 areas; firstly none of them manage to present a solid and well formed core gameplay without the gimmick, none of them have particularly fluid controls, good graphics, textures, AI or level design. Second and most importantly, none of them manage to be remotely fun, interesting or entertaining to play; in fact they are more frustrating than fun.

Maybe the gimmick is not the problem but the implementation. Games like Burnout, Motorstorm, Resistance and even GTA have a gimmick of sorts but they manage to succeed on a different level because the gimmick does not dominate the game (Burnout took a few sequals to get the alance right) as the core mechanics of the gameplay are strong enough to carry the game without the gimmick.

My personal thinking is that the games I have played most in the past year or so (COD4, Uncharted, GT5:P) have all summarily eschewed the gimmick and instead have been solid simple and thoroughly enjoyable games because they did the basics well. I don't think it is a coincidence that those 3 games have been some of the highest sellers inthe past year while bunf like Haze and Timeshift bombed. The message therefore must be that by all means bring a gimmick to the table, a 3rd person shooter where the heroes absurd JRPG style hair is able to grow and change colour at the players request and be used as a weapon is more than welcome, but if the core of your game like the controls and AI is not up to scratch without the gimmick then your game is destined for a quick nosedive from the sales charts to the bargain bins and deservedly so.

GTA finally makes a run for the 360 and it brings what you like from GTA, improves it, and adds some more stuff to it. This game has great graphics and audio, and a nice full fledged character driven story. Liberty City in this game really feels alive with all of the people, cars, tours, you name it. The controls have been improved and the TV shows and radio channels are funny if you listen to some of them. The multiplayer works pretty good too. Who doesn't want to roam Liberty City in a 16 player online match? However, there is some visual glitches, the friendly AI can be dumb sometimes, and why can't I knock over really small trees? Overall, if you liked the GTA series, you will enjoy this game to its fullest.

Pros:

+ Superb character-driven story

+ Liberty City really does feel alive

+ Multiplayer modes that let 16 players go wild across the entire city

+ Genuinely funny radio and TV shows, comedy acts, and character dialogue

+ Controls are much improved over previous games

Cons:

- Occasional problems with friendly AI

- Some minor visual quirks

- Why can't I knock over small trees?

This first instalment is regarding the ever popular GTA series, and in particular, the recently released GTA4.  Now before I continue, I am not what can be called, an avid gamer.  I rarely play games online, I sometimes use cheats if I get stuck, I don't break any records and I hardly ever complete games.  I play when I'm bored and when I can be bothered.  I'm probably your slightly less than average gamer.

Now I love the GTA series, and GTA4 is still an excellent game, excellent gameplay, great graphics, an astoundingly huge city, the missions are okay and there's quite a good, if not entirely unadventurous, storyline.  That's all well and good for your avid gameplayer who goes out and buys the game to complete it as soon as possible for bragging rights amongst their (probably equally unattractive) friends.  But what about me, and the average joe on the street.  The most fun I have playing the GTA games is when I forget the missions, leave the storyline behind and just enjoy the vastness of the city and the infinite number of ways to keep yourself amused.  Namely, the fun cheats.  You all remember the ones from earlier GTA series, the flying cars, death car, everyone's Elvis...etc.  Now what could be more fun than flying a car, rather badly, through a city made up entirely of people who look, dress and sound like Elivs.  And that's one of the main problems with the new games, when you get bored with the missions, you can't just hop into a banshee and fly it into a crowded area.  It also irks me that there are no parachutes, because as I am sure we are all well aware, the best part of San Andreas was driving up to the top of the mountain, riding a motorbike off the top and deploying the parachute at the last possible moment without breaking your legs on the landing.

I'm not saying you can't do anything fun on the new game, there are plenty of stunt jumps to be jumped and plenty of fun to be had with hand grenades, helicopters and all out murder sprees.  But you can't steal a plane! Why are there planes in the game if you can't steal them?  And why the hell have I been Ric Rolld 17 times looking for cheats to let you fly a plane?! I blame Rockstar entirely for this, ignoring the fact that I am an idiot.

Like I have said, the game is good, and there is plenty of fun to be had, but I think that with just a little more work, some fun cheats, the odd yeti and flyable planes (complete with parachutes) it would have made the game a lot more fun to us amateur gamers, who probably make up 75% of Rockstars customers.

For these reasons stated, I ask Rockstar to bend over and take the little spanking it deserves.

Grand Theft Auto IV PC will include an expanded multiplayer component, improved graphics, and a gameplay clip editing suite when it hits the PC on November 18.

Grand Theft Auto IV to gra akcji, będąca kolejną odsłoną bestsellerowego i kontrowersyjnego zarazem cyklu, swoimi korzeniami sięgającego 1997 roku. Niniejszy tytuł powstał w dziesiąte urodziny wymienionej serii, ukazującej losy poszczególnych przestępców, którzy zaczynając od zwykłego chłopca na posyłki i speca od brudnej roboty, wspinają się na coraz wyższe pozycje w gangsterskim świecie.

Scenariusz GTA 4 produkcji został przygotowany przez Dana Housera, który pracował m.in. przy Canis Canem Edit (alias Bully), Manhunt i The Warriors oraz rzecz jasna przyłożył rękę do większości poprzedniczek GTAIV. Fabuła koncentruje się wokół postaci obcokrajowca o nazwisku Niko Bellic. Bohater w wyniku listów otrzymanych od swojego kuzyna postanawia opuścić Europę Wschodnią i przybywa do Stanów Zjednoczonych. Niestety zastana przez niego rzeczywistość daleko odbiega od opisanej w korespondencji emailowej. Roman skłamał, że posiada dwie żony, sporych rozmiarów kolekcję samochodów oraz kilkucyfrowe konto w banku. Co więcej okazuje się, że niesforny krewniak nieustannie wpada w nowe kłopoty, a jego życie wcale nie jest takie kolorowe.

I don't know about the second part, but for the day I'm gonna get married someday with a supposed potential Mrs., I've actually thought about this. I think I'd like to see if we can space it out to be the exact halfway point between our birthdays, but the further halfway point away. For instance, if our birthdays are only a month apart, we won't set the date within that month, but rather five and a half months between the two birthdays.
