Joe Torre's Revenge

I don't if anybody remembers that at the beginning of baseball season, I about Joe Torre, who is in his first year managing the Los Angeles Dodgers after leading the New York Yankees to four World Series wins.

Torre was dissed by fellow Cancer George Steinbrenner, the New York Yankees owner who didn't renew his contract. So the New Yorker packed his bags for the West Coast. Well, Torre's gotted the last laugh because the Bronx Bombers didn't make it to the playoffs without him.

I predicted great things for Torre this year, mostly because he's a late Cancer Sun with a Capricorn Moon. Both the lights are getting the benefit of the transit from Jupiter in Capricorn. His time of birth is unknown on July 18, 1940 in Brooklyn so I don't know if he's an early or late Capricorn Moon. Right in the middle would be good because that's where Jupiter is right now.

Until today, I didn't know the Dodgers were playing the Phillies in the National League Championship Series. I confess that I totally took my eye off the ball. Los Angeles is down two games and must win Game Three on Sunday to have a chance at going to the World Series.

Well, as they say in sports, "It's not over till the fat lady sings." On Sunday, Torre has Jupiter exactly square his North Node at the Midheaven. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Los Angeles stays in the game, even though Saturn is slightly past a square to Torre's Part of Fortune at 15 Gemini.

Before you go calling your bookie, some disclosure is in order on my part. For the record, I picked Kansas to win the NCAA Final Four and was right. (When I made my selection the bracket was down to four teams.)

I thought this would be a great year on and off the course for Tiger Woods. He's expanded his business empire but leg surgery has hampered his winning ways.

I totally bombed out in my picks for the Indy 500 and got one of the three horses in the Kentucky Derby trifecta. I thought Calvin Borel, last year's winner, would repeat, but I was wrong.

The fact that Torre made it to the championships is due to Jupiter's winning ways. It may be that this isn't his year to win another World Series. But, looking at his chart, I think he has a very good chance. And that's what I said back in March.

O badalado e esperado novo ano de Heroes não vem obtendo a audiência esperada pela NBC. São recordes negativos que vem sendo batidos semanalmente. Nesta última, por exemplo, a série conseguiu razoáveis 8,2 milhões de espectadores, nada menos que o pior numero já obtido em toda a história do Show. Não vou dizer aqui que lamento essas constantes quedas, a série fez (e está fazendo) por merecer. Apesar da estréia dupla ter me agradado, é impossível pra mim ficar imóvel a baixa qualidade que a série vem apresentando em seus dois últimos episódios. É preciso deixar de lado seu amor pela série e ser racional para chegar a conclusão de que a série está se perdendo, ao mesmo tempo que perde seus fãs e o apoio da critica, que continua a massacrar os constantes furos de roteiros, os diálogos bobos e o completo descuido com o desenvolvimento das histórias. A série virou uma sucessão de repetições de episódios anteriores, tipo, pare e pense qual é o enredo central que rege a temporada: Eles vão ao futuro e descobrem que coisas terríveis vão acontecer e voltam para impedir que aquilo aconteça. Simplesmente isso repete a história principal dos anos anteriores. Se não bastasse isso, os produtores não têm o mínimo senso ao copiar na cara dura filmes e outras séries. Quer um exemplo? A nova história envolvendo o insuportavel Mohinder é totalmente copiada do clássico filme de terror "A Mosca" de 1986. Cadê a criatividade nisso? E olhe que isso é apenas um exemplo. Acrescente a isso a superficialidade de alguns personagens que do nada ficam maus e a completa abobação de outros (o que fizeram com Hiro?) e a eterna confusão do passado e do futuro cheio de paradoxos, por quê não manter a história toda no presente? Deixem isso para os roteiristas de Lost, que conseguem tratar de viagens no tempo com brilhantismo, ou pelo menos aprendam com eles. Isso foi um desabafo, de quem já gostou muito da série e está triste em vê-la se afundar. Talvez eu me arrependa de ter falado tudo isso, pode ser que a temporada fique ótima (coisa que eu nem espero mais). O fato é que Heroes está ruim, muito ruim. Estou quase abandonando a série de vez. É uma pena.*

This week's TV round up

One of the things I mentioned in my About Me bit was I like television, but I've realised I haven't written a lot about it, partly because I do not want to go down the TV critic route. "Hey look at me, I'm on the Internet and anyone can read my opinion, so I am going to give it." No, I do not want to be sitting in front of a TV with a notepad, physical or metaphorical, noting plot holes and bad acting. These people do not know the meaning of bad acting, just go and watch some old TV shows or movies (I mean real old, not ten years ago). I like to watch a TV show or movie and just get lost in it so I tend not to spot things like that unless they are really obvious, where it takes me out of the story and I think to myself, did that really just happen? So if you want to read non critical posts about shows then read on.

Just a note, the following may contain spoilers if you haven't watched any of these episodes yet, so if you haven't seen the episode yet and don't want to be spoiled, don't read on.

Smallville (E4) has finished (technically last week, but it was repeated this week so counts) and I am going to miss it. I've been watching from the start, even though I suspect I'm a little older than the target audience but then I am still more of a child in a man's body. It ended with Lex Luthor finally discovering the truth about Clark Kent and destroying the Fortress of Solitude (and I assume he now had control of Clark as that is what that device was supposed to do but that wasn't clear by the end of the episode). I can't wait to see what happens next and it won't be for long because Season 8 starts in November. Hooray!

A new show starring Amanda Tapping of Stargate fame started in ITV4 call The Sanctuary. This looks promising, it has plenty of atmosphere and scary looking monsters creatures, a bit X Files-y. I'll definitely be watching this next week, even if the detective guy looks suspiciously like Daniel Jackson.

Heroes (BBC2) continues to entertain especially as they have got rid of the slow build ups. It's now a proper superhero series without costumes. I've only watched the second episode even though I have recorded the third from BBC3, as my wife doesn't want it to end too quickly. I'm sure they will show the season finale on BBC2 and make all the BBC3 viewers wait two weeks so she might have a point, but I'm recording from BBC3 as a precaution, just in case something stops us watching it when it's shown on BBC2 next week. While I can just about live with missing an episode of nearly every other show, I would really hate to miss a single episode of Heroes. Same for Doctor Who.

Also the same night was Silent Witness (BBC1) which concluded the following night and was very watchable, abeit a little confusing towards the end but I think I just about understood it. Not quite so scary as last week where the story centred on gangs in South London. As parents of small children that was very scary because you knew that it wasn't completely fictional.

I would love to have talked about Greatest Cities of the World with Griff Rhys Jones (ITV) but I'm afraid if was beaten into third place by the previous two programmes and our PVR can only record two things at a time (still better than the old days before video recorders and even with video recorders the recordings were not that great quality). My wife and I visited New York at the very worst time possible, we had managed to visit a good bit of the city before the tragedy but for two days the city was pretty much closed and we just stayed in the hostel watching the TV until we were able to get on a train to Poughkeepsie. I would like to have seen Griff's take on the city. Still, next Sunday we will be watching Stephen Fry exploring the United States of America, including New York state as we did in our second week, so looking forward to that.

Secret Diary of a Call Girl (ITV2) is continuing to improve on the first series. I started watching because it was Billie Piper, who was in Doctor Who, being a little saucy. What's not to like about that. I continued watching because it was a smart witty drama although each programme was very much its own story. This series we see more of Hannah, in more ways than one (although it's a little too obvious that a body double is being used, shame), than her professional persona of Belle, and there is more continuity between episodes allowing for a deeper more involving story line. (Ooer, that's getting dangerously close to a review).

Finally, tonight I watched Little Britain USA (BBC1) which was as funny as always, particularly the guys in the gym changing room at the end.

CLINT MALARCHUK CAN'T DIE

That's right. He can't die.

19 years after this happened... (Ed Note: If you don't like to see blood, I suggest you watch)

Malarchuk accidentally shot himself in the chin with a .22 caliber rifle. According to his wife, he had been hunting rabbits when he placed the butt of the gun on the ground between his legs and the gun discharged.

He is recovering from his injury at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno.

Well Lately there are a lot of tv shows that had start back after a really long break. So What else to do but watch them! haha. Heroes. Well some people say that It is a rip off from all the Superheroes shows and movies but it is still fun too watch. Some people out there compare it with their Us counterpart, so What would people like otaku compare Hereos to?

Claire Bennet - Rapid cellular regeneration. I would say She more to Dante(Devil_May_Cry) Healing powers. Well I du have much to say bout her.

Elle Bishop - Electric manipulation cannot really find one. from anime So I am just Putting her under Elecman(megaman) or Pikachu hahaha.

Hiro Nakamura - Manipulate Space and time( teleportation) He seem to be a more of a game geek then otaku, but Still after last episode being refered as Pikachu, He is more to be Abra( pokemon ) and Cardcaptor sakura Clow card The Time

Matt Parkman - Telepathy , another Physic Pokemon Mew two. read mind. -_-

Nathan Petrelli - Flight. Urm. Alot of magical girls can fly. Somehow he does not quite fit in anything that i can think of. at least i can say he can take Up Astro Boy or something much cooler nagi SpringField.

Peter Petrelli - Mimic abilty. damn the only thing i can think of is Ditto. I tried looking online but only know Ditto. at least Ditto does not have Emo hair style or any hair.

Micah Sanders - technopathy I cannot find much reference bout this but i can only think of one of ken akatmasu manga,Forty (Ai Love you). ( btw can i borrow it again zidee)

Niki Sanders - Superhuman Strength. urm there are alot of anime character that have this super strenght So i am saying it is more of Karen Ichijou ( School rumble) .

Sylar/Gabriel Gray - multiple acquired abilities I would want to say he is like ditto But i decide he more Towards megaman. WHY?? In megaman game Megaman have to kill the robot master to gain their ability so it Kinda the same for Sylar. ( rest my case)

Mohinder Suresh - Urm . there not much i cans say about him. maybe he is more to Professor Oak, or Dr Light from megaman.

Linderman - Heal. not much I can only think of Acolyte from ragnarok.

So I hope you enjoy some random stuff that i made up just to spend my time doing nothing before exam . Hope people would not kill me for it.

¿Héroes o villanos? Si ya te has perdido y no sabes quien es bueno o malo en la tercera temporada de "Heroes" presta atención a las indicaciones que Masi Oka y James Kyson Lee, Hiro y Ando en la serie, respectivamente, nos han dado.

Kyson Lee sobre el primer episodio de la nueva temporada:
"Si yo maté a Hiro, probablemente, fue por una buena razón. Pero todavía no sabemos si Ando o Hiro se vuelven villanos. O si Hiro me traicionó".

Masi Oka sobre la posibilidad de que Hiro se transformarse en villano:
"No sé sé que va a pasar o si eso ya ha pasado, pero yo creo que necesita pasar algo así al menos temporalmente".

La amistad de Hiro y Ando:
"Los dos personajes siempre fueron amigos leales, pero, en esta serie, nunca se puede prever lo que va a suceder. Cuando uno cree que sabe algo, no sabe nada", dijo Kyson Lee.

El futuro de los personajes:
"Cuando el haitiano “perjudica” el cerebro de Hiro, él pasa a pensar que tiene diez años, porque es de lo último que tiene recuerdos. Es en ese momento cuando intento salvar el mundo y ser canguro a la vez. Trato de hacerlo recordar como él acostumbraba a usar sus poderes. Es un tipo de Yoda intentando hacer recuperar la memoria a Luke'", dijo Kyson.
"Es una buena razón para poder decir 'Yatta!' nuevamente sin sentirme grosero", completa Masi Oka.

Sobre la posibilidad de obtener poderes:
"Hemos sabido, en esta temporada, que, para obtener poderes, hay una combinación de factores físicos y naturales. Creemos que el eclipse tiene a ver con eso. Quizás la fórmula que estamos intentando encontrar esté relacionada con eso y, obviamente, Suresh está haciendo experimentos para descubrirlo, pero parece no encontrar la respuesta", concluyó Kyson Lee.

It's been fairly dull I'm afraid, I've not been very well and therefore spent most of lounging on the sofa watching TiVo'd repeats of Gilmore Girls. It's the series where Logan first shows up, I never liked Logan I was always a Jess girl. Anyway I'm wondering if it would be too sad to buy this t-shirt

Rory was wearing it in a espisode and I googled in it and there is a whole web site dedicated to Gilmore Girl stuff, so now of course I want a dinner mug too. I need a new slogan t-shirt since I shrank my cross county egg and spoon champion one in the wash, but is it sad to buy something you see on TV, opinions please?

In other news AFF kindly altered me to the third and final Twilight trailer. It looks very, very good. Robert Pattison is growing on me as Edward, he looks a lot better on film than in the awful posters I keep seeing, who has executive control over these images!

The only thing is where as I can read just about anything and be perfectly fine with it, because I'm in my own little world, when I hear it spoken out loud it can kind of change the effect on me. So some things in the trailer had me smirking and I don't want to smirk at Twilight! Anyone else have this problem? It's the reason I loved reading the Historian and absolutely hated it when I listened to the audio version.*

Speaking of Peter Petreilli (well I was speaking of Jess whose played by Milo Ventimiglia whose also Peter, I'm sick! My brain is making strange jumps today) what was up with Heroes this week? I am unimpressed. Although Sarah Connor, which I was all for giving up on, had a cracking episode this week, more cool Cameron and Derek and less John I say.

Finally did anyone make it past the first set of adverts of Knight Rider, who knew I'd miss David Hasslehoff!

Right back to my sofa, have an excellent weekend everyone.

* Okay after three more viewings I've changed my mind, I'm in the Twilight Zone not caring the boy you like is a Vampire sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Especailly when he can catch an apple on his shoe! Although he should maybe lose the sunglasses, I don;t know what Gok Wan would say about them

HEROES [3X04] - I Am Become Death

Dizem que uma imagem vale por mil palavras...

Juro que tentei assistir I Am Become Death mas, simplesmente, não deu. Além da história chata e confusa, eu simplesmente percebi que os roteiristas enlouqueceram de vez. Eles chegaram à um ponto onde TUDO É POSSÍVEL.

Morreu um personagem? E daí? Alguém pode voltar no tempo e salvá-lo.

O mundo acabou? Tanto faz... basta voltar no tempo...

A graça em um filme ou em uma série está no fato de nos preocuparmos com o destino de, pelo menos, um personagem. Em HEROES, isso não acontece mais.

Enfim, a única coisa que eu gostaria é poder viajar no tempo, como os personagens de HEROES, para ir até o futuro e ver como é que essa bomba vai acabar.

La risposta alla domanda è tutt'altro che semplice: ormai le serie tv hanno davvero toccato tutti gli argomenti possibili ed immaginabili che ci possono venire in mente, quindi non è facile immaginare nuovi scenari futuri, non è facile neanche impostare un sondaggio a riguardo ma la curiosità effettivamente c'è e quindi ci proviamo a dare una risposta.

Lunedì ritorno in sordina per "Chuck" e "Life" su NBC; il primo episodio della seconda stagione viene seguito da appena, rispettivamente, 6.6 milioni di spettatori (2.6 rating e 7 share nella fascia 18-49, ascolti in calo del 27% rispetto alla scorsa stagione) e 6.9 milioni di spettatori (2.7/7). Nuovo record negativo per "Heroes", sempre su NBC, visto da 9.3 milioni (4.4/10). Ancora male anche "Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles" (5.3 milioni, 2.0/5) e "Prison Break" (5.3 milioni, 2.0/5). Meglio CBS, anche se con ascolti in calo: "Big Bang Theory" (8.7 milioni, 3.3/9, in calo dell'8%), "How I Met Your Mother" (8.8 milioni, 3.7/9, in alo dell'8%), "Two and a Half Men" (13.8 milioni, 4.7/11, in calo dell' 11% nella fascia 18-49), "Worst Week" (9.3 milioni, 3.1/7, in calo del 18%) e "CSI: Miami" (14.3 milioni, 4.3/11, in calo del 17% nella fascia 18-49). Su The CW buoni ascolti per l'altra serie di Josh Schwartz, "Gossip Girl", seguita da 3.5 milioni (1.9/5) e anche per "One Tree Hill" (3.4 milioni, 1.9/4); abbastanza stabile su ABC "Boston Legal" (9.8 millioni, 2.3/6).

Mercoledì deludente ritorno su ABC per "Pushing Daisies", "Private Practice" e "Dirty Sexy Money". Nonostante le recensioni positive della stampa, "Daisies" viene seguita da 6.3 milioni di spettatori ( 2.0 rating/6 share), meno del 55% di quanto realizzato lo scorso anno. Non è andata meglio alla seconda premiere di "Private Practice" (8.2 milioni, 3.3/8), in calo del 37%, e a "Dirty Sexy Money" (7 milioni, 2.4/7) giù del 33%. CBS ha invece trasmesso "New Adventures of Old Christine" (6.8 milioni, 2.0/6) , "Gary Unmarried" (6.9 milioni, 2.2/6) e "Criminal Minds" (14.8 milioni, 3.9/10 nella fascia 18-49), tutte in calo, e "CSI: NY" (14.9 milioni, 4.1/11 nella fascia 18-49). Non eccezionale ma meglio di quanto ci si aspettasse per il secondo episodio di "Knight Rider" su NBC (7.8 milioni, 2.4/7); in calo del 17% "Lipstick Jungle" (5.3 milioni, 2.0/5). Giovedì molte serie in pausa a causa del dibattito presidenziale; bene "My Name Is Earl" su NBC (7 milioni 2.9/8) mentre in leggero calo "Ugly Betty" su ABC (8.6 milioni, 2.5/7).

Venerdì è il network CBS ad averla vinta, grazie al brillante ritorno di "Ghost Whisperer", seguito da 9.3 milioni di spettatori, (2.4 rating / 6 share nella fascia adulta); non altrettanto si può dire invece del debutto di "The Ex-List" visto da 6.9 milioni (2.0/6), ascolto inferiore del 17% rispetto alla premiere di "Moonlight", in onda nello stesso periodo lo scorso anno (fan protestate!). A seguire, "Numb3rs" (8.1 milioni, 2.1/7) con ascolti in calo del 19%. Su NBC secondo episodio di stagione per "Life" , visto da appena 5.4 milioni di spettatori (1.6/5) Su CW il debutto della quarta stagione di "Everybody Hates Chris" è stato seguito da 2.1 milioni di spettatori.

Domenica disastrosi ascolti per The CW, che ha proposto le nuove serie prodotte da Media Rights Capital "Valentine", seguita da soli 1.1 milioni di spettatori (0.4/1) e "Easy Money", vista anch'essa da 1.1 milioni (0.4/1). Ascolti discreti su ABC per "Desperate Housewives" (15.5 milioni, 5.8/13) e "Brothers and Sisters" (10.6 milioni, 4.0/10), anche se in calo del 18 e del 13% rispetto alla settimana scorsa. Bene anche CBS con “Cold Case” (10.7 milioni, 2.9/6) e “The Unit” (10.7 milioni, 2.9/7), entrambe con ascolti in crescita.

Sulla tv via cavo, venerdì buon debutto di "Sanctuary" su Sci Fi Channel, la prima serie live-action ad utilizzare virtual sets, seguita in media da 2.7 milioni di spettatori. Bene anche" Sons of Anarchy", in onda mercoledì su FX, seguita da 2.19 milioni di spettatori (1.1/3 in 18-49).

Heroes (Season 3, premiere at 22/09/08)

Ahhh, Heroes.... Siapa sih yang ga kenal Heroes? Kalo kalian tanya ke temen-temen kalian soal Heroes, pasti sebagian besar dari mereka nonton, atau, paling enggak, tahu... Serial ini emang booming banget di dunia. Salah satu dari sedikit serial yang langsung sukses di awal-awal perilisannya. Dan saat ini, serial Heroes ini udah masuk season 3 (chapter 3 - Villain). Pihak pembuat seri ini udah menetapkan 2 chapter di season 3 ini. Chapter 3 - Villains (13 episode), dan Chapter 4 - Fugitives (12 episode).

Season 3 ini dimulai dengan 2 episode sekaligus, setelah seminggu sebelumnya mereka merilis episode 0. Episode 0 ini sebetulnya cuma acara peresmian launching-nya season 3. Di episode ini bintang-bintang heroes ganti-gantian jadi host, dan menampilkan beberapa cuplikan dari episode 1 dan 2. Juga ada beberapa trivia tentang season-season sebelumnya, seperti banyaknya hal-hal berbau star trek di serial ini... Juga ada pembahasan singkat tentang special FX yang mereka pakai di film ini. Klo kalian emang penggemar heroes, maka ga ada salahnya kalian nonton episode 0 ini. Cerita di season 3 ini sendiri tetep solid. Banyak misteri yang terungkap, banyak juga misteri baru yang muncul. Karakter-karakter terus bertambah, tapi secara keseluruhan penambahan karakter ini enggak merusak kesatuan cerita secara keseluruhan. Bener-bener seri yang ga boleh dilewatin deh... Tunggu jam tayangnya, setiap senin malam waktu Amrik, atau selasa pagi waktu Indonesia

Τέσσερα χρόνια μετά έχουν έρθει τα πάνω κάτω. Καλοί και κακοί έχουν αλλάξει ρόλους και ο Πετρέλης είναι πρόεδρος και παντρεμένος με την Τρέισι. Τι απέγινε η γυναίκα και τα παιδιά του; Όλοι μπορούν να αποκτήσουν δυνάμεις και κανείς δεν παίρνει πια ταξί.

Η μελαχροινή Κλαιρ πυροβολεί και σκοτώνει τον μελλοντικό Πίτερ! Ο μελλοντικός Πίτερ είναι κακός! Ο κανονικός Πίτερ πιο εύπιστος από ποτέ ακούει τον αδερφό του ότι πρεπει να πάρει τη δύναμη του Σάιλαρ για να σώσει τον κόσμο. Δεν ξέρει γιατί και πως, αλλά πάει. Ο μελλοντικός Σάιλαρ είναι πράος οικογενειάρχης και υποδέχεται τον αδερφό του με θέρμη. Τώρα εμένα το πιστιρίκι του μου θυμίζει την Κλαιρ, αλλά δεν πιστεύω να είναι η μάνα, πολύ άρρωστη σκέψη. Δεν τον άφησαν να αγιάσει και του σκότωσαν το παιδί, οπότε έγινε κι εκείνος πυρηνικός από τα νεύρα του και έστειλε στον τάφο μια πόλη 200.000 κατοίκων. Ο κανονικός Πίτερ είχε προλάβει να πάρει τη δύναμή του. Η Δάφνη και ο Πάρκμαν έχουν ένα μωρό και μεγαλώνουν μαζί και τη Μόλι. Ωραία οικογένεια, κρίμα που δεν-ήταν-αρκετά-γρήγορη η speedster και ξεψύχησε στα χέρια του άντρα της.

Στο παρόν ο Χίρο και ο Άντο ξεθαύουν τον Άνταμ γιατί είναι το κλειδί του μυστηρίου της φόρμουλας. Που είχε τη μισή ο μπαμπάς Νακαμούρα και την άλλη μισή η μαμά Πετρέλη ντε. Δεν το έπιασα και πολύ αυτό, ούτως ή άλλως φέτος ο Χίρο είναι για πολλές μπουνιές και οι ιστορίες του άστα να πάνε.

Υποθέτω ότι το επεισόδιο ήταν το όραμα του Πάρκμαν, σωστά; Τι πίκρα, να βλέπεις ένα μέλλον στο οποίο έχεις τόσο μικρή συμμετοχή! Κατά τα άλλα έχει δράση το επεισόδιο, παίζει πάλι με την πετυχημένη (από άλλους τουλάχιστον) συνταγή της μεταφοράς στο χρόνο και σε κάνει να αναρωτιέσαι τι έχει μεσολαβήσει που έφερε τα πάνω κάτω. Αλλά δε θα χάσεις και τον ύπνο σου.
