Stick a half a lemon in the freezer and apply to bites as needed.

Make a paste with water and baby aspirin and apply to bites.

Apply icy-hot or other cream with Capsacin.

Dab with Lavendar essential oil.

make a paste with baking soda and apply to bites.

coat one side of a penny with vaseline and tape the penny, vaseline side down to bite.

warm some honey and dab onto the bites

cover with plain old mud, or if you are so inclined, a cosmetic mud mask for facials

In addition to these home remedies, there are other steps you can take to make sure those itchy bites get GONE faster.

Make sure you are taking your fish oils or other omega-3/omega-6 fatty acid supplement. This will help with calming down inflammation.

Don't eat the things you know cause you digestive problems or skin rashes. This only takes focus away from your body's ability to deal with the histamines from the bug bites.

Drink at least half your body weight in ounces each day to help your body's immune system function properly and work out the bites.

In the later part of June I got to work with an amazing individual, Nicole Beben, who heads up the Care to Know Centre at Saint Elizabeth Health Care. She and I worked together on a social media piece introducing the Care to Know Centre that is now posted online, on the open forum First Canadian Health Care Conference website until the end of July.

The Care to Know Centre is a knowledge institute with a mission to improving health care through knowledge networks and social innovation. In other words, innovators can approach the Care to Know Centre with an initiative designed to foster change in the home and community-based health-care sector and apply for a grant to effect that change.

One of the other ways the centre will contribute to the improvement of the in-home health-care system is through social networking. The centre will act as a knowledge broker that will share information and best practices throughout the health-care system, working together to foster change.

Instead of telling you what it's all about, here's the presentation in full:

The Care to Know Centre – improving health care through knowledge networks and social innovation.

What would happen if a not-for-profit health care organization invested in projects designed to foster change?

An aging population, rising health care costs and evolving technologies are driving the demand for quality and sustainable home care. In 2002, the Romanow report identified home care as the “next essential service” and a way to support sustainability and improve the quality and care of people who would otherwise be hospitalized. This sentiment was echoed in the First Ministers’ Health Accord in 2004, with targeted funding for short-term home care that covers two weeks of care. Recognizing something more needed to be done, the Public Policy Forum hosted a national roundtable of 150 home care stakeholders in 2007, who agreed to work together to promote awareness of this issue. It is now five years since the 10-year Health Accord and three to four per cent of seniors are not receiving the home care services they need to stay well and healthy, one in four Canadians are caring for loved ones, 22 per cent of those caregivers miss months of work and 41 per cent use personal savings, as reported in the Health Care Council’s survey Fixing the Foundation: An Update on Primary Health Care and Home Care Renewal in Canada.

This survey reflects a growing trend toward increased transparency and accountability and represents the kind of research needed for dramatic and dynamic change. With a focus on social networking, social innovation and a collective agreement among health professionals to collaborate and share what they know, an exchange and transfer of knowledge can happen and effective change will result. The new Care to Know Centre (CTKC), a knowledge institute, embraces this idea and defines itself as a knowledge broker connecting consumers, researchers, decision-makers, health care professionals, and supportive and unregulated care providers for the purpose of implementing evidence-based best practices in the home care health sector.

The Care to Know Centre’s Activities – improving home health care through knowledge networks and social innovation

The Care to Know Centre will act as a catalyst for significant change through the generation and exchange of evidence-based decision-making to improve home and community-based health care for Canadians. It strives to fill the gaps within existing knowledge and works to develop new models for home care research and practice, by incorporating evidence into managerial and clinical decision-making for system, organizational and individual health improvements. It will effectively include the health care consumer into the research and knowledge exchange process, while increasing opportunities and creating forums for home and community health care knowledge-sharing. It will advocate for improvements to and funding for the home and community health care system and work to reduce the lengthy process of knowledge generation and exchange to ensure evidence is up-to-date and timely.

Through its signature Imagine Grants program, the CTKC will direct funding towards organizations conducting applied research that investigate key aspects of the consumer health care experience. Projects may range from improving specific health and supportive home-based care to a better understanding of the instantaneous and transformative nature of technology. The CTKC will focus on three key areas: health promotion and wellness support; health innovation and technology; informal, unregulated and personal supportive caregivers. Scholarship opportunities are also available to graduate students, whose studies focus on home and community care.

CTKC’s Executive Director, Nicole Beben says, “It is critical and socially responsible to build strong, mutually valuable partnerships, by using the best talent and resources from each organization to mobilize and impact the social issue at hand. The evolution from social investment to social innovation is upon us. By connecting values to value, the CTKC’s creation process aligned the operating mandate of home and community care directly with social innovation to effectively and universally partner, empower and create solutions to issues that have value to the health care system as a whole.”

The mission of the CTKC is to act as a knowledge broker to create effective linkages and exchanges for knowledge generation and provide a meaningful context to the vast amount of health care and systems information available to consumers. We are recently reminded of a bold move by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where administration and faculty have made available the majority of its lectures and course notes to the world via the internet over a 10-year period through a new program called MIT OpenCourseWare. The rationale is simple, facts are facts. In and of themselves facts are not as valuable, purposeful or useful as information/knowledge that has been explained and given context. It is this rationale that motivates and drives the CTKC to provide access to information/knowledge that will be of value to researchers, advocates and consumers, while seeking unique ways to translate the evidence and to put it in a context that provides insight and direction for immediate action and future investment. This is where stakeholder partnerships within and outside of the home and community health care sector will be critical. To provide various viewpoints and streams of investigation, we will rely on input and engagement from the usual and unusual suspects, who can add valued context to the issues we seek to impact.

We encourage you to contact us via our website at www.care2know.ca this fall with research questions, projects, ideas for programs and general questions to guide our efforts and make them meaningful. In an open source world of push/pull strategies, knowledge translation and exchange, we are counting on participation from active minds, who know that health care happens within hospital walls and behind the front doors of homes in your neighbourhood.

Research shows the cost of long term care in America has jumped about 25 percent since 2004. Many people prefer to care for loved ones in the home rather than a nursing home or assisted living situation, but no matter the method of care, the cost is great.

According to the Genworth Financial research findings, the expense of even just a few years in a long term care facility or the home can wipe out a family’s savings.

The average yearly costs for long term care among the main three options are as follows:

Nursing Home -- $76,460 annually or $209 per day for a private room

Assisted Living Facility -- $36,090 for a private, one-bedroom unit

Home Care -- $43,884 per year (based on 44 hours per week of care at the average rate for a home health aide)

Nursing homes remain the most expensive option for long term care, and the average costs have risen 17 percent since 2004. Assisted living facilities have increased their rates by about 25 percent since 2004, while rates for certified home health aides have only risen by about four percent.

Of course the level of care if often dictated by the individual’s health and the extent of their needs. With the cost of healthcare continuing to increase across the board, individuals and families need to plan ahead for the cost of long term care.

With advances in technology and breakthroughs in the treatment of many once fatal diseases, people are living longer with each new generation. An increased life expectancy comes with its ups and downs, but with the right planning you can live a longer, more enjoyable life. If you are just starting out in life, one of most important things you can do is plan for your retirement. Keep in mind that you will most likely live longer that the generations before you so you will need to save enough to live for an extended period of time. However, if you or your loved one is considering senior living options, keep your life expectancy at the forefront of your mind.

One thing you can do is to consider whether or not the facility or community that you would be moving to provides complete care. As we age, our medical needs change and we need more continual care and monitoring. Right now, an independent senior living community may seem like the perfect fit but what would happen if you fall and injure yourself to the point where you are no longer able to live alone? Would you have to move? What if you are living in an Assisted Living facility and your condition worsens? Will you be transferred to another facility? There are many senior communities that have all three options: independent living, assisted living, and nursing home care. All of facilities you may need as you age would be located on the same property so that you don't have to be concerned with moving and choosing new facilities each time. Consider one of these "all-inclusive" communities as a total senior living solution.

Home Health Senior Care is committed to providing you information on senior independent living, assisted living and nursing home facilities in your area. Start helping your loved one and contact Home Health Senior Care today!

A new study released today by the National Association for Home Care & Hospice’s (NAHC) Foundation for Hospice and Homecare has documented that nurses, therapists and home care aides who serve chronically ill elderly and disabled patients drive nearly 5 billion miles each year.

"The sheer volume of miles driven by the employees of the nation's home care and hospice agencies to reach shut-ins with complex medical problems is astonishing," said Val J. Halamandaris, President of NAHC. "Our data shows they traveled 4.8 billion miles in 2006 to provide medical and nursing care to 12 million people who are so disabled that they cannot leave home without assistance."

Halamandaris added that the "angels of home care cross all types of terrain, from crowded metropolitan streets to the dirt roads of frontier America, in all types of weather to provide care for the patients who depend on them -- many of whom suffer from congestive heart failure, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer's disease and other life threatening conditions." The nation's home care organizations provided more than 428 million medical and nursing million visits in 2006.

According to the study, which is based on Medicare cost reports required to be filed with the Federal government augmented by responses to a nationwide industry survey, the 4.8 billion miles driven in 2006 is the equivalent of:

1,386,458 trips across the U.S. at its widest point

192,920 times around the earth

10,017 roundtrips to the moon

52 trips to the sun

More than double the 2 billion miles driven globally by UPS, the international delivery service

Public health emergencies were declared by Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Michael Leavitt in the states of Iowa and Indiana, after heavy flooding began affecting health care services.

Leavitt, who is empowered by the Public Health Services Act, said the move will assist Medicare beneficiaries by enabling hospitals and nursing homes in neighboring communities to expedite the intake of evacuees by allowing facilities to act “under a presumption of eligibility.”

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator Kerry Weems said that certain operating procedures of the agency “will be relaxed to speed provision of health care services to the elderly and persons with disabilities who depend upon these services.”

According to CMS, the agency will “waive certain program requirements” for Skilled Nursing Facilities, including the “three-day prior hospitalization requirement for admission for evacuated patients.” The agency will also ease “limitations on the benefit period for those evacuated patients.” In addition, CMS said it will broaden the definition of “home,” allowing alternative sites to accept Medicare beneficiaries receiving home health services.

The purpose of this posting is to give you some food for thought concerning a topic that people do n

The purpose of this posting is to give you some food for thought concerning a topic that people do not want to confront. The so-called boomer generation will be the largest population group in the country that is approaching its senior years and will have to confront some challenging issues.

When it comes down to the nitty gritty, most of us will age and will require the care of others. There's a greater likelihood that one will need assistance with daily living skills ( i.e., dressing, bathing, meal preparation, etc.) than being confined to a nursing home. If you ask where would you prefer to be, most people would opt to remain in their own home and most would opt to have assistance/ services provided there.

Then the question is raised, "How will I pay for services to be provided at home?" The answer is twofold: either pay for the services out of pocket or have an insurance policy that will pay for the services. Paying out of pocket can become expensive.

The Council of Supervisors and Administrators (CSA) in New York City offers its members and retirees a home health aide care benefit. CSA will provide coverage for post-hospitalization home health care. Physician certification is required to provide coverage by a certified home health aide. The CSA will pay after a $100 annual deductible coverage of an annual maximum of $6000 and a lifetime limit of $18000. It is a good benefit to have as a CSA member- it is provided free to the membership and is relatively generous.

It's better than nothing, but typically home health aides are paid $20 plus per hour, so do the math. One will burn through the CSA maximum allowances in no time flat.

SO WHAT IS ONE TO DO? Consider home health care insurance. It is not to be confused with Long Term Care Insurance. The major difference is that the coverages of Home Health Care Insurance are provided in the home and not in a hospital or nursing home.

What's covered? To give a brief overview:
Care, services and supplies from a home health care agency or qualified home health care provider, such as visits by home health care aides, licensed nurses, licensed physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapist and inhalation therapists.

What else is covered? Transportation to and from medical appointments, domestic cleaning and laundry services, food shopping, meal preparation and cleanup.

There are many other services including respite care when, for example, the spouse providing care for the loved one needs a temporary break.

The point I am making is that Home Health Care Insurance provides a valuable coverage for the inevitability of life, namely, that we will all age and quite possibly need some form of help or services to be provided for us.

I will not bore you with the cost - it is very reasonable, in fact, since services are provided in the home, the cost is much less than Long Term Care Insurance which is geared for providing coverage in a nursing home.

The determining factors for Home Health Care Insurance are age at the time of issuance of the policy, and the amount of daily benefits one desires. The older you are when you take the policy the more it costs. The daily benefits payable to you can be from $100 per day to $250 per day. Obviously, the amount of the benefit also figures into the cost. There is no right or wrong. One makes a decision based on what he/she perceives the need to be.

To reiterate what I said before most people want to remain in their own home. How to make that a reality when a person has advanced in age is the issue. Insuring for that contingency is one answer.

I think sinus tract is the most horrible and terrible infection caused by bacteria. Essentially this sinus infection is a skin problem that can ruin the charm and the fascination of your skin. So what is sinus tract? This is an abnormal channel that leads from bones or any other structures in your body to the skin surface and this passageway is also called fistula. This may be the result of an infection on your skin. It may also result from decompression of a synovial joint in rheumatoid arthritis which is called classic fistulous rheumatism.

What is sinus tract needs more explanation to understand the dreadful effect of the ailment on your body. Sometimes the disease can be very fatal indeed and it can lead to very adverse consequences as well. The very first symptom of these medical conditions will have growing hair like structure under your skin in any area of your body. Slowly it will infect the adjoining cavity and the tract starts causing some discharge. And this discharge may be accompanied by acute swelling and inflammation.

What is sinus tract is not so an easy term to understand until you see the images of it. You can ask your family doctor to explain you the term properly and how it can lead to such fatal condition. Now let's find out treatments on what is sinus tract and see if it's possible to cure this disease which can lead to widespread infections in your body.

Well, there is host of remedies for sinusitis tracts. But for getting rid of this aliment one can immediately go for surgery/operation. By means of this operation doctors remove the infected skin that lines sinusitis tract and remove all infected tissues. Mind you that there are different operations for the remedy. And the cost of surgery depends on the nature of operation and the condition of sinus tract.

Thus I hope that your query on what is sinus tract is fulfilled and you have understood the concept properly. If you observe severe bleeding from a wound which is old or some kind of discharge you can consult a doctor to know is its sinusitis tract.

What is the sinus? In Latin, Sinus is what can be ascribed as 'bosom', 'pocket', 'bay' or better still 'curve'. However, when it comes to the typical anatomical jargon, Sinus is what is used for different cavities or passages within the biology of a man.

This sack or cavity is the resultant of a fissure caused by the destruction of a tissue. To the average layman's question 'what is the sinus?' can be best explained as the passages that have been created near the nasal overtures so as to accommodate air in the cranium of the skull. Sinusitis is also what, in the simpler sense of the term, is used for an infected tract between the skin and its abscess. However, when you ask what is sinus it should not be confused with fistula.

Here the discussion on what is this sinus will basically be on sinusitis and we will discuss some common problems of sinusitis and how they can be treated. If your sinuses are infected by bacteria you will have the following sinusitis symptoms:

1. You will experience nasal congestion and there may be discharge with thick pus which may be yellowish-green or simply yellowish in color.

2.	You may also experience pain on teeth when you bend downwards. The symptoms may vary depending on the sinus infected.

3.	The symptoms may continue for more than 10 days and they worsen after 5-6 days from infestation.

4. Sometimes patients may experience severe headache along with nasal congestion. They may also experience pain in some particular areas of the face.

5. The eyes may appear red, bulge a little and may be painful. Lets now move on to the treatments of what is the sinus discussion. What medications are prescribed by the doctor and what are their usefulness. These medicines like amoxicillin are used for infections which are caused due to bacteria. The medicines in this category are mainly to remove the congestion of the nose and also to reduce the inflammation of the inner lining if mucous membrane. Medicines like pseudoephedrine hydrochloride are prescribed. These medicines are meant to reduce the pain in sinus treatment. Medicines like acetaminophen, aspirin, or ibuprofen etc are used for this purpose.

''What is this sinus?'' is a broad question. And you will get lots of answers related to this question because 'sinus' is used to describe many medical terms in your body like the cells in your heart responsible for heart rhythm are called sinus node and so on and so forth.

Before gallbladder surgery even crosses your mind, you should try a simple home remedy for gallston

Before gallbladder surgery even crosses your mind, you should try a simple home remedy for gallstones that works for almost all types of gallstones. Unfortunately, statistics show that most people opt for the organ removal operation, gallbladder surgery. This is probably because their doctor recommended the surgery.

But before you remove your gallbladder, have you considered what history has taught us about various surgery practices.

Gallbladder Surgery- Is it worth it?

Three thousand years ago, Egyptians performed some of the first surgical operations that made a butcher shop look like a PG film.

One hundred years ago, surgeons would drill holes in a person's skull hoping to cure deafness.

And today, many natural health experts believe that gallbladder surgery will be the next surgery to be regretfully performed in medical hospitals.

Gallbladder surgery is also called a cholecystectomy. Cholecystectomy is a procedure to surgically remove the gallbladder. Though, many doctors believe that this organ-removal surgery is the only treatment for gallstones. They are wrong to the patient's demise.

Unfortunately, most doctors forget to mention that the surgery will cause you years of discomfort with diarrhea and nausea. Though, your body could eventually adjust. Your chances of getting bowel cancer are drastically increased with the continuous dripping bile into the digestive tract. And you will also be a perfect candidate to suffer from high blood cholesterol the rest of your life.

Maybe God wanted you to have your gallbladder! Here are some simple tips for a home remedy for gallstones.

A Natural Gallstone Treatment

To say the least, your body is pretty miraculous. Some of the leading researchers and scientists are awed by the body and its ability to heal itself. With all that said, many researchers now believe that the body has an internal intelligence to heal itself completely if given the proper tools!

And Natural Health has shown that various nutrition tips, lifestyle tips, vitamin supplements can actually aid in the process of your body healing itself naturally. In fact, this home remedy for gallstones is as simple as becoming a healthy person and allowing you body to work at optimal levels! Your body will naturally flush gallstones.

Here are 5 tips your doctor won't mention!

1. A Flush! The first step might be the most difficult because it takes 1-2 days! You should start your treatment with a gallbladder, liver and colon flush. The flush will allow impurities, toxins, pollutants, cholesterol and 'bad' fats to pass from your body. The all-natural cleanse will rejuvenate your body to pass most of its impurities and should be done annually for gallstone prevention. Check out a Gallstones Remedy Report for the simplest and most effective flush.

2. Optimal Health- Research shows that drinking enough water is probably the healthiest thing you can do for your body. Your body is 75% water and dropping a couple percent can equate to gallstones. A good rule of thumb we tell our customers is to drink half their body weight in ounces of water. If you weigh 180 lbs. then you should drink 90 ounces of water or 11 cups of water.

3. Cholesterol- Prevention is the best medicine. With that said, you should avoid high fat and cholesterol foods because they cause cholesterol-based gallstones. We recommend eliminating it for one-month and gradually reintroducing them to your diet.

4. Fruits and Veggies- High water-soluble fiber foods are probably one of the best gallstone prevention tips. Fruits and vegetables have high water-soluble fiber content which will flush cholesterol which could cause stones. Go with about 7-8 servings of fruits and veggies per day.

5 Vitamins- One of the best vitamins you can be supplementing is vitamin C. Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) has been known to be effective to convert cholesterol to bile acids. With less cholesterol and more acids in your body, you can decrease the risk of gallstones. It will also boost your immune system.

Pass Your Gallstones in 24 Hours... Guaranteed

24 hours from now you can be gallstone-free and keeping your gallbladder! And you can also prevent them from ever returning with some simple tips from our Gallstones Remedy Report. To learn about the only 100% guaranteed, step by step gallstone remedy flush, please visit our Home Remedy for Gallstones website.
Having Oral love is the most disgusting form of pleasure, some people prefer teeth being used,

Having Oral love is the most disgusting form of pleasure, some people prefer teeth being used, the others don't like, they believe it can't be helped for a little teeth. What's the right way of oral sex?

Oral sex, if you really think about it, is probably the most disgusting form of pleasure man has ever conceived. (By the way, I'm listening to Kate BUSH right now... is there some sort of irony here that I can't quite place my finger on(So to speak)?) Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking it. But let's analyze this for a minute. You are sucking, licking and kissing your partners genitals. The area from which they release their waste. There is something to be said about a species that derives pleasure from this.

Other animals don't bother with foreplay of any kind. In and out, that's all there is for them. Man is the only creature that has made sex into more than procreation. Of course, some animals have a distinct feature that allows them to "clean" themselves, but can that really be considered oral sex? No, because they don't do JUST that part of them; they clean their whole bodies at once, that just happens to be a fringe benefit... Then again, there is the age old question: "Why do dogs lick their dicks?".. Because they can. Would man do the same, if our spines were more flexible? I'll leave that thought up to you.

Ignoring the mere aspect of having oral sex, let's think about why people want it in the first place? It might be because society doesn't look too favourably upon it. Most people like to be different, but I don't think that this is the main reason. Why does a man suck a woman's breast? The man really doesn't get any pleasure from it. But the fact that he is being intimate with a part of the anatomy that he doesn't have... it is intriguing. Same with the other areas. But then, why not have straight sex? Because everyone and everything has that. Man and beast.

As well, perhaps it is an expression of ultimate commitment to a person. To show them that you aren't afraid lick and swallow what they emit; that must say something about your feelings. Especially if you don't like the taste. You are making a sacrifice for that special someone. Boy, nothing says lovin' like a tongue in the ov-but I digress.

Then again, all people are different. What might seem sickening to some, might be a great turn on for others. Certainly sodomy is not restricted only to homosexuals, but not everyone would like to try it - even if it were with someone of the opposite sex. So for some, oral sex is something they enjoy. Getting or giving. (GETTING probably being more popular in standards of appreciation...)

Oral sex though, is something that has been done and thought about a lot. There have even been sayings made up about it.. (In regards to the size of tits) "Anything more than a mouthful is a waste" .. of course, anything less is a disappointment.

And also, there are certain problems that can come with too much oral sex. For example, have you ever tried to explain a pubic hair stuck in your teeth (To someone other than your partner.. or worse, to your partner who you haven't had oral sex with lately..) Or how about the horror of a girl who uses too much teeth.. Ow. Don't even think about that one. Ow.

But, whatever the case, oral sex is used by couples as a recreational sport. Do it when you're bored, without the hassle of birth control or running as great a risk of contracting VD. In a time when AIDS is foremost on people's minds, it's no wonder we're looking for sexual substitutes.

Did someone told you that it's better to visit your dentist regularly?

Why? You may ask.

Many people are been told to visit dentist on a regular basis, but anyhow the full reason is not forever explained. As many people have a deep fear on visiting dentist, it helps to know why it is important to go to any dentist on an occasional basis. It might also give confidence otherwise nervous individuals to make a dental appointment. According to American Dental Association, everybody should visit a dentist twice a year for cleaning and checkup, and some individuals might also require to visit more often, if they are know at a risk. If you have not been visited dentist in last six month, you must probably make an appointment to visit now.

The first basis to go to any dentist is to maintain your teeth in first-rate health condition. During a tooth cleaning session, a dental hygienist could be much more in profundity than you could at your home. The dentist has dedicated tools that is intended to take away plaque and tarter while cleaning all about the tooth. The dental care hygienist could as well provide tips and a proposal for upholding your teeth fit, and would usually tells the doctor how the sessions go, so that he or she could properly address detailed issues.

Most dental care problems do not turn out to be sore or observable until they are extremely advanced. Unfortunately, dental issues are more often than not permanent, meaning that a very aching tooth would have to be drilled or removed. By going to the dentist on a regular basis, you could keep an eye on your teeth with the assist of dental x-rays and a substantial examination. The dentist could certainly make out areas of possible danger and head off main dental problems at the pass. A dentist could too spot require for gum grafts, braces, or any other procedures to defend the dental health of your mouth. If you visit dentist on a regular basis, you would surely shun elevated risk dental infections. Not only are cavities tender, they are also potentially very hazardous for you. If you do not visit to the dentist, you might as well experience serious dental health problems down the line.

Nearly all children like sweets and chocolates, but they don’t know what dental care is, an

Nearly all children like sweets and chocolates, but they don't know what dental care is, and most parents neglect it too, untill their's teeth hurt, then the parents have to take them to hospitals.

In fact, around the world the major percentage of the dental patients are the children, which is very unfortunate. Basically, the children have the great attractions towards the sweets and the chocolates. In general, most of the children are not willing to brush their teeth at all. So let me tell you some of the important facts about the oral hygiene and the dental care.

** A toothbrush is able to eradicate the ‘plaque bacteria’, which can cause the tooth decay. One thing should be noted that the toothbrush should be of small head and soft-bristled that are specially designed for the babies. You should use the brush at least once (preferably after the bed-time) in a day to your child.

** It seems some people are not concerned about the importance of the baby teeth. Now one thing should be remembered that the ‘first teeth’ or the baby teeth assist the children to learn to speak clearly. Now, it also assists the children to grow the habit of natural chewing.

** Most of the children are seemed to suck their thumbs of the fingers up to a certain time. Basically, the thumb sucking is not a big deal for the children of up to two years. Now if the age of your child is more than two years and he is still sucking his thumb then it is your duty to discourage him. Thumb sucking after two years of age could create the problems in the tooth gums and it can cause the teeth of bad shape.

** If your child feels the sudden toothache then apply little hot water in that place of the tooth instead of the cold water. Now, you can use the ‘acetaminophen’ for your child. But you have to remember one thing that the ‘aspirin’ is the must-avoided material in case of the child toothache.

** To keep the oral condition of your child safe, you must give him the balanced diet. You have to give him the balanced amount of cereals, breads, milk, vegetables and most importantly the fruit. Don’t give him much amount of sugar, starch or the chocolates. These elements are really harmful for the teeth of your child.

** Use the toothpaste with fluoride to your child’s teeth while brushing. You can use the mouth guards to your children’s teeth while he is going for any sporting event.

** Now, this is going to be the most important tips for you in this article. Remember one thing that there is branch of medical science called the ‘pediatric dentistry’, which serves as the children dentistry. If your child feels any problem regarding his teeth, just go to any qualified pediatric dentist. It will be better of course, if you visit the pediatric dentist after a certain period of time.

** If your child’s teeth are of bad shape and yellowish in color, then just the field of ‘dental plans’ is here to help you out. The dentists will shape up the teeth of child in correct manner.

Dental Insurance Advice for Seniors: What You Don't Know Can Hurt You

The No. 1 most important thing for seniors to remember about dental coverage is that Medicare does n

The No. 1 most important thing for seniors to remember about dental coverage is that Medicare does not cover dental services. This can affect you in two ways; first, if your only insurance coverage is Medicare, dentists will treat you like a self-pay patient, and will charge you the full fee for each procedure. Second, many Medicare supplement plans only cover services that Medicare pays for. If you call the customer service department for this type of supplement plan, they will often tell you, "We follow Medicare guidelines," or "We pick up the remainder after Medicare pays." Those supplement plans that do cover dental services tend to only cover basic or preventative services (meaning no crowns, bridges, dentures, etc).

Prior to purchasing any dental policy, be sure that you've read and understood all of the exclusions and waiting periods that apply to the policy. Many policies will not cover major services if certain criteria are not met. For example, a "missing tooth exclusion" means that if the tooth was extracted/missing prior to the start of the policy, the plan may limit the types of replacement they will cover, or they may not cover any treatment that replaces that tooth (this includes implants, bridges, removable partial dentures and, in the most extreme cases, even complete dentures).

It also never hurts to step back and ask yourself if you really need dental insurance. If you have strong teeth, and only see your dentist for cleanings (or, at the other end, if you have a full set of dentures and only see your dentist for adjustments), you may be wasting more money on monthly premiums than it would cost to pay for these services outright. Also, make sure that you see a dentist that is contracted with your insurance, if at all possible. If you are trying to choose between two different insurance companies, ask your dentist's biller which companies they are contracted with - using a contracted dentist can save you hundreds of dollars on major services. (by Liz Westlake, )

Also, you should know the difference between dentalplans and dental insurance.

Discount dental plans, designed to provide significant savings on members' dental care needs, have quickly become an attractive alternative to costly dental insurance.

Here are a few teeth whitening tips to keep in mind:

Dentist can provide expertise. Even when using do-it-yourself kits, you may still want to visit your dentist to determine why your teeth are discolored and which treatments will work and won’t. An appointment and evaluation could save you time and frustration in the future, as well as alert you to additional safety precautions.

Tooth sensitivity and gum irritation. About half the people who try whitening products experience some degree of tooth sensitivity or gum irritation. If you experience discomfort, immediately try using lower concentration of peroxide (e.g. 6% instead of 10% or 20%). Usually side effects fade in a few days, but prolonging your exposure to too much peroxide could also prolong the side effects. If irritation persists, see a dentist.

Do NOT use if pregnant or nursing. Even the smallest bit of swallowing chemicals in bleaching agents could be dangerous to a fetus.

If you’ve had previous dental work: Bleaching generally doesn’t work well on bonding or tooth-colored fillings and crowns. Best bet is to get them replaced.

If you have white spots on teeth, decay, or infected gums: whitening bleach is not effective.

Don’t use a mouthwash with alcohol (e.g. Scope or Listerine) after bleaching because it can diminish the whitening effects. However, an oxygenating oral rinse (e.g. Orajel or Therabreath) may benefit the gel treatment. Be sure to read the instructions for further advice.

Limitations. Remember that tooth whiteners will not whiten artificial dental work such as caps, crowns, bondings, bridges or fillings. To reach these particular teeth, you will most likely have to replace the dental work to match your new white teeth. Gray teeth are also more difficult to whiten than yellow teeth.

About a decade ago, people knew only one way of getting their teeth whitened- that was through dental in-office whitening. It was a wearisome procedure but slowly when people started showing a compulsive concern of having a whiter set of teeth, the impulsion goaded a number of different bleaching formulas and teeth whitening kits started flooding the every day market.

Nowadays, dental in-office teeth whitening aren’t the only option. Numerous home teeth whitening kits are now dominating the market with unprecedented rate, as they are more beneficial products of teeth whitening treatments. Home teeth whitening system uses different teeth whitening kits like whitening strips, teeth whitening trays with whitening gels, and brush-on whitening.

Some of the basic home teeth whitening tip or methods of teeth whitening, used by people around the world are as follows:

1. Application of a paste of lemon juice and salt in the yellowish tint of the teeth is a wonderful way of eradicating that dull color of the teeth.

2. Rubbing the inner white part of an orange peel in the discolored teeth gives a lovely white shine.

3. Regular use of paste of bi-carbonate of soda with water removes the surface stain from the teeth.

4. Dried and powdered Bay leaves combined with dried orange peel also acts as an excellent whitener.

All these home teeth whitening methods when done regularly can give an excellent result.

Nowadays, people lack patience and time and so they frequent the chemist’s shop to purchase teeth whitening kits. These kits include whitening strips, whitening sprays, brush-on gels and whitening toothpastes. But before using such teeth whitening kits, one should follow certain guidelines to get a perfecta teeth whitening. He should use oxygenating toothpaste to brush the teeth because it contains substances that strengthen gums and prevent sensitivity from occurring in the teeth. Before purchasing teeth whitening kits containing bleaching gel, one should confirm that the formula has 21 percent concentration and is carbamide peroxide based. After using Home teeth whitening kits, one should rinse their mouth with an oxygenating oral wash to get that perfecta teeth whitening.

When you are pregnant if you have to have emergency dental work, such as wisdom tooth removal there

When you are pregnant if you have to have emergency dental work, such as wisdom tooth removal there are a few precautions you should take. It is best to wait until after delivery to have dental work done, but if this is not possible here are a few suggestions to help make the procedure safe.

First of all, be sure and let your dentist or surgeon know that you are pregnant. He or she can use a local anesthetic such as Novocain or Lidocaine that will not cause any problems with the baby.

If at all possible, try to have dental work during your second trimester. During the first trimester, your baby is forming vital organs and during the third trimester if could be very uncomfortable for you to lie on your back for an extended period of time.

If you need to take an antibiotic before or after your procedure it is generally safe to take penicillin or amoxicillin , but you should avid tetracycline.

Hormonal changes during pregnancy cause many pregnant women to have problems that they didn't have before they became pregnant. The gum tissue is more sensitive to irritation. They swell, become inflamed, turn red, bleed and are often painful. These reactions are to the plaque surrounding the teeth. Many dentists believe that pregnant women should have three or at least two dental cleanings during the time that women are pregnant. Home care should be excellent. Of course, dentists would prefer to avoid tooth extraction during pregnancy. However, the best interests of the child must be thought of too. A mother in constant pain, while carrying a child, is stressing out her body. This is not healthy for the child. Modern tooth extraction procedures are very gentle and many patients are not even aware that their tooth has been removed. The dental anaesthetics have epinephrine in them that closes the local blood vessels and keeps the anaesthetic in the area of concern and away from the baby.
Procedures to remove wisdom teeth are often carried out safely under local anaesthetic, but I would advise that you discuss this issue with your physician and a board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon to make sure that the operation can be done this way. In the mean time keep the area clean with your tooth brush. I know it may not feel very good, but until you have the tooth removed, that is a necessity. Also, rinse your mouth with warm salt water 2 to 3 times a day. This will help with some of the discomfort. It sound like you may need a bite guard to wear at night to help with your tmj pains. You may see a general dentist for this, or if you can't afford it or have no insurance, go to the nearest sporting goods store and buy a rubber bite guard football players wear. It comes in various sizes

for more savings, see here:
http://dentalplansfree.blogspot.com/

Sometimes it will be necessary to have X-rays before your removal. These are necessary, but should be kept to a minimum. The X-rays used in dental work should pose little threat to your baby, but it is best do these during the second trimester (if possible).

May 13, 2008 - A low-vision rehabilitation program that includes a home visit, counseling, assistive

May 13, 2008 - A low-vision rehabilitation program that includes a home visit, counseling, assistive devices such as magnifiers and assignments to practice using them appears to significantly improve vision in elderly veterans with diseases of the macula (the area of the retina with the sharpest vision), according to a report in the May issue of Archives of Ophthalmology, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.

“Low vision, chronic visual impairment that limits everyday function, is one of the 10 most prevalent causes of disability in America,” the authors write as background information in the article. In addition to affecting daily function, low vision increases the risk of depression, injury and an overall decline in health.

Most diseases that cause low vision are not curable.

“In most cases, impaired vision cannot be corrected and rehabilitation is the only option for regaining lost function for the patient with low vision. Low-vision rehabilitation aims to restore functional ability, the ability to perform tasks modulated by visual impairment.”

Joan A. Stelmack, O.D., M.P.H., of the Edward E. Hines Jr. VA Hospital, Hines, Ill., and the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine, and colleagues studied 126 patients (average age 78.9, 98 percent male) with low vision and diseases affecting the macula who were eligible for Veterans Affairs (VA) services.

Between November 2004 and November 2006, participants were randomly assigned to one of two groups. In one, patients received a low-vision rehabilitation program incorporating a low-vision examination, counseling, assistive devices such as magnifiers and five weekly sessions provided by a low-vision therapist to teach use of the assistive devices and other adaptive strategies.

They were also assigned homework to ensure they used the devices outside of rehabilitation. The other group was placed on a wait list for the rehabilitation program and received no treatment for four months, an amount of time veterans might normally wait to receive such services.

After four months, the 64 patients in the treatment group received an average of 10.46 hours of face-to-face low-vision rehabilitation and experienced a significant improvement in all aspects of visual function, including reading ability. Among the 62 patients in the group that did not receive rehabilitation, vision and functional ability declined over the four-month follow-up.

“Significant improvements in functional ability for mobility, visual information processing, visual motor skills and overall ability also were seen in the treatment group; small losses in these functions were observed in the control group,” the authors write.

“At least 10 hours of low-vision therapy, including a home visit and assigned homework to encourage practice, is justified for patients with moderate and severe vision loss from macular diseases,” they conclude.

If you’re looking for a way to stop blushing naturally, you’ve stumbled upon the right

If you're looking for a way to stop blushing naturally, you've stumbled upon the right article, and I urge you to read the whole thing through without skipping a single word. For in this article I shall relate 3 ways in which you can put a stop to your excessive facial blushing and lead a happier life.

3 ways To Stop Blushing

1. Blushing Hypnosis - As blushing is a mental condition which is caused by some past event or a subconscious glitch, hypnosis may be the best solution for you. Hypnosis allows you to tap into your subconscious mind and discover the trigger for your facial blushing. In this way you can cause your subconscious mind to change, thereby defusing the very trigger of your blushing. You don't have to go to an expensive hypnotist. There is at least one recommended online blushing hypnosis resource that you can use.

2. Stop blushing guide - Another way in which you can put a stop to your blushing attacks is by learning from someone who has been there and overcome his own condition. There are people who have managed to cure their own blushing. One of them has written a book called the blushing free guide (you can read more about it through a link at the end of this article). Many people have found this guide helpful. Perhaps you will too.

3. Therapy - This is the traditional method of treating any mental oriented condition. I can't recommend a specific therapist but there must be some good ones in your area. Psychological treatment has some downsides such as being expensive and taking a while to accomplish results, but with the right therapist you can achieve impressive results.

Whatever treatment you choose, don't allow this condition to continue. You can put a stop to your blushing. It is mainly up to you.

In a study involving 214 patients, researchers found that the patient-physician relationship is strengthened when patients see themselves as similar to their physicians in personal beliefs, values and communication style. Further analysis revealed that patients’ perception of similarity to their physician is a multidimensional construct that includes both personal and ethnic components, some of which are more strongly related to outcomes than others. Researchers found that of the two dimensions, personal similarity appears more strongly related to patient trust, satisfaction and intent to follow the doctor’s recommendations. Regardless of issues of race and gender, a doctor who is skilled in providing information, showing respect, and supporting patient involvement can establish a connection with the patient that contributes to greater patient satisfaction, trust, and commitment to treatment. The authors assert that these findings support the need for communication skills training as a foundational part of medical education at all levels.

Home Health Care Services : Allowing Those Who Need Help to Live Independent Lives

Old age can keep us from doing things we once thought were easy. As we grow older, living on our own

Old age can keep us from doing things we once thought were easy. As we grow older, living on our own can become something of a struggle. However, home care and home health care services can provide the elderly or sick with the aid and activity they need on a daily basis, allowing them to continue living an independent life.

With over one million people making use of home health care, it has proven to be a successful alternative to long-term nursing facilities. A normal home care service consists of a nurse or aid visiting the patient’s home every day to help assist with whatever needs assisting. This can vary from simply cooking meals and housecleaning to providing the patient with physical therapy and medicine. No aspect of what a patient needs is overlooked, and every patient is treated differently according to his or her needs. While one patient might need help keeping maintenance of his or her home and minor physical therapy, another may require help in being bathed and fed. Nurses are trained to be attentive to any potential needs their patient may have.

The need for home health care isn’t always clearly determined. It is a good idea to consult with a doctor before deciding whether you or someone you know should seek the aid of home health care services. Consulting with a doctor may also help you financially. If your doctor confirms the need for home services and orders it, financial burden can be lifted off your shoulders through Medicare. Research the agency you use to make sure they can do whatever needs to be done to aid you or a loved one. Check if the nurses are licensed and trained. This research can help prevent any problems along the way.

One important thing to remember is that home care services and home health care services are different. While home care may provide the elderly with daily check-ups and domestic services, home health care includes helping a patient recover from an ailment, such as a heart attack or stroke. Depending on what is required, you might want to make sure that those you’d be hiring are licensed therapists or nurses.

Home health care is a great way to provide yourself or a loved one with the aid and medical treatment that’s needed on a daily basis. It allows patients to live healthy lives without encroaching on their independence. If you or someone you know is not ready to go to a long-term nursing facility, home health care is a viable alternative that might just be worth looking into.
