Lee Jun Ki : “I’ve seen Pepsi’s earlier costumes, there were ancient robes, blue birds, and circus get ups. This is my first Pepsi outfit, even I’m really excited. This time it will fulfill both our wishes. What you see now is just a warm up. Our family of 5 is going to have a party, the second part of our outfit is super awesome. We have a prepare ourselves from the inside to out in order to film, so we have to have a party first to give us a warm-up.”

Louis Koo : “Every year, our photo shoots are done separately, But this year, Pepsi wanted the new members to immediately warm up to each other, so we’re filming together. Lee Jun Ki, Show Lo, and I are a set, and Jolin, Huang Xiao Ming another. I’ve always admired Show Lo, so we clicked immediately. With Lee Jun Ki, even though we have a language barrier, he’s very smart though. Show and I like to horse around with him. He’s got so many poses, so he’s the one leading Show and me. Yanking and pulling, laughing and being annoying, we just get horsing around. You guys will know when you see the behind-the-scenes.”

Show Luo : “The interaction with Mr. Koo and Jun Ki was great. I talk about everything with Mr. Koo. We talked about collecting toys, talked about clothes, and we talked about how we could prank Jun Ki. Once we’re sitting next to each other, it’s just nonstop from there. But we were actually pranked by Jun Ki, Haha. Though there’s a language barrier with Jun Ki, but we could communicate with our eyes, and also talked to him about Japanese. And the funniest thing is, squashed between them, between a dark and a light, I became the intermediate skin color. And like that, one day, we just became…the 3 Kabob Brothers.”

On the other side, Jolin was the senior status, becoming the leader, and introduced the past Pepsi Commercials to Huang Xiao Ming.

Being the first time working with the sexy goddess, Huang Xiao Ming kept sweating due to his nervousness, and was teased by everyone.

Jolin : “When I filmed Pepsi before, I was usually the only girl, and so I there are lots of hot guys that take care of me. This time it’s just Xiao Ming and I, we’ve brushed shoulders at the back stages of various awards ceremonies. But today I discovered that he’s actually quite shy.”

The teased Xiao Ming : “Today is our first time collaborating, and there’s only the two of us, and everyone wants us to get closer, so I’m a bit shy about it. Guys are all like that.”

In September, Pepsi Superstars will be coming out with their second outfit, and all left teasers for everyone to anticipate about. Xiao Ming : “The second outfit, we’ll be making a huge change. May it be the audience or ourselves, we’re all excited. It’s a super cool look that we all haven’t tried before. Just wait for it! !”

Hoe ze het doen elke keer bij de de nos geweldig. Nu weer een dame uit Taiwan. Jolin Tsai met "Love love love" En ja geweldig Anky!

Zo zat ik gisteren naar Studio Sportzomer te kijken en hoorde ik aan het eind een leuk deuntje van een Aziatische dame. Het heet (hoe origineel) Love Love Love, een cover van het liedje Stop Stop Stop van Nu Virgos. De zangeres van deze versie heet Jolin Tsai, een jongedame van in de twintig uit Taiwan. Hier totaal onbekend, niet verrassend vanwege de taalbarriere, maar in Azie al tien jaar razend populair. Het genre dat ze zingt heet lieflijk 'mandopop', pop in het Mandarijn...Ik weet niet of ze dankzij Studio Sportzomer nu opeens ook hier op doorbreken staat, maar ik wilde jullie Love Love Love niet onthouden. I love this album, I can listen to every song on it. My favorites at Sky and Wild Game. Sky is a slow song and it sounds very sad. Wild Game is the complete opposite, it makes me want to get up and dance. To be honest most of these songs make me want to dance. My favorite thing about this album is that I bought the version that comes with a DVD of all the music videos. I love to watch them all, seeing all the dances she does makes me want to learn one! She is also very beautiful and seeing all the different clothes she wears is really fun. If you don't have it, buy it and make sure you get the one with the DVD!

Best buzzAsia from Japan: AI, "I'll Remember You"

I thought this was a "one to watch" kind of award. There are a lot of people I would consider giving this to Aoyama Thelma, Jero...but AI has been around for ages so I don't know what the award means. I have to say, I don't like the song or the video. AI's voice and musical sound is different to just about everybody else in the Japanese charts. Perhaps, as a Westerner, I don't appreciate that fully. However, I just can't find an aspect of her voice that marks her apart from countless other R'n'B singers. The video itself reminds me of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful". It's simple, not particularly memorable. The more I write, the more I think that this was a mistake on MTV's part. AI is deserving of recognition but perhaps this award shoudn't have been for her and this song certainly not the one to single out.

Best buzzAsia from Korea: Cherry Filter, "Feel It"

Token Korean award? With the Japanese one above included to try and make it seem less so? MTV is based in Japan so obviously Japanese artists will dominate the VMAs. Perhaps this is an attempt at inclusion. Or maybe at expansion. Who knows? Who cares? Probably Cherry Filter are happy enough. I believe the Korean music industry is the hardest to break into. It's dominated by former trainees of SM, YG etc whether they remained with their companies or not. Epik High are the only really noticeable exception. Cherry Filter have been knocking about for a while now though, and their sound is rather unique. I really like this video, certainly more so than I do the song. Neither of them are good representatives of the Korean music scene...wistful thinking on somebody's part!

Best buzzAsia from Taiwan:Andy Lau, "One"

Now, this just strikes me as being lazy. Think of the most famous Chinese singer around: Andy Lau. Pick a place for the award to reference: Taiwan. Does Andy Lau come from Taiwan? No. Does anyone seem to care? Hell no! I love Andy but why do we always see Chinese-language music dumped into the same category. This award doesn't even have the dubious benefit of a generalisation. It's not as though Taiwan has any shortage of talented singers, both Jay Chou and Jolin Tsai released albums since the last VMAs. Are they not famous enough? Or maybe somebody just didn't bother doing their research. I didn't talk about the song because I couldn't find a clip of the video (that comment about research is coming back to bite me now). If anyone can provide a link please let me know!

Bloody hell, who have EXILE been sleeping with? Another coveted award won and another one I don't think they deserve. I suppose karaoke choices are so subjective though. Personally I prefer something a bit faster, with lyrics that WON'T send the room to sleep. Can I suggest Otsuka Ai "Peach", Arashi "Step and Go" or KAT-TUN "Lips"? "Toki no Kakera" isn't a bad song, but it's karaoke for cowards.

MTV Rock the World Award:Kobayashi Takeshi & Sakurai Kazutoshi

This is important. Not interesting in an entertainment-gossip way, but important nonetheless. The pair are among the most famous of Japan's musicians - a producer and the frontman of Mr. Children respectively. Together they founded the AP Bank, which provides funding for environmentally-friendly causes. This is MTV's "Bono" award. Usually I dismiss this kind of award as a publicity stunt to make MTV look good but if it brings more attention to the AP Bank, then I can't fault it. New to me. I'm finding it a little bit hard to get my head around their music. So far I like "Itsumademo Merry Christmas" but that's it. I'd like to hear from anybody who likes (or dislikes them). Jolin first started out by taking part in the MTV singing competition while she was just 18. She won the top prize with a song “The Greatest Love of all”. Then she was being signed on by Universal Music as a new singer from Taiwan. After about a year later, on July 1999, her first single Living With the World was released. It was sold in 7-11 stores and it was a tremendous success which led to the release of her first album on September 1999.

At that time, her image was the next-door sweetie pie image and was an instant hit with teenagers, which earned her the title Teenage boys Killer. Her 1st album, Jolin 1019 sold more than 400,000 copies around Asia, and actually had many versions of the album out across the world. With the success of her 1st album, she released her anticipated 2nd album in May 2000, Don’t Stop, and many of her hits in the album are well known throughout Asia. She also released her 1st photobook that is mainly taken in Hawaii. This album was also a tremendous success. Her image changed for her third album Show Your Love. Being more matured and nearing the age of 21, it was a much soothing album with many new songs and tunes. However, the sales of this album was not at good as compared to the previous 2. The fourth album, Lucky Number, did not manage to bring her back to the previous popularity she had although she tried certain new songs and many changes. She also sang the theme song for the movie Atlantis. Then for a period of 1 year, due to problems with her record company, she did not cut any albums. However, she came out with her 2nd photobook, taken in Thailand, with a song composed by Jay Chou. She finally managed to sign with Sony Music and got her biggest break in her whole career. Her album Magic, topped the Taiwan album charts for 3 full months and sold more than 300,000 in Taiwan alone. This transformation gave her what she needed to make a comeback to the music scene after being gone for almost a year. Right now she just released her 2nd album, Castle, which also is the current top album in Singapore’s RIAS charts and selling well.
