Começa no dia 16 de setembro a corrida pelos ingressos para o TIM Festival 2008 em São Paulo, no Rio de Janeiro e em Vitória. A programação do evento foi divulgada hoje, mas os detalhes sobre as vendas e os preços das entradas só serão conhecidas na próxima semana.

As três cidades brasileiras vão receber 19 artistas internacionals e dez nacionais entre 21 e 27 de outubro. A capital paulista vai abrir o festival, no dia 21, com shows de gala dos saxofonista Sonny Rollins. Este ano, as apresentações se estendem por cinco dias (até o dia 25) , em dois espaços no parque do Ibirapuera: o Auditório e uma Arena de Eventos que será montada, com capacidade para 4 mil pessoas.

No Rio de Janeiro, a organização do evento vai montar a mesma estrutura do ano passado, com três espaços na Marina da Glória, com capacidade para mil, 2 mil e 4 mil pessoas. Rosa Passos e Sonny Rollins abrem o festival no dia 23, com apresentações especiais. A má notícia ficou para quem pretendia ver os shows tanto de Kanye West quanto de The National e MGMT. O rapper e as bandas americanas foram escaladas no mesmo dia, em horários concorrentes.

Vitória vai receber mais uma vez uma edição reduzida do evento no Teatro da UFES. Os capixabas vão poder assistir a apresentações de Stacey Kent, Carla Bley, Siba, Gogol Bordello, MGMT e The National.

Gents, saiu hoje a programação completa do TIM Festival 2008.

Mesmo tendo uma raiva incrível do último TIM devido ao pequeno atraso de 4 horas na programação, vou engolir minha ira, dormir 2 dias seguidos e ir pra essa RAVE ver meu negro gato.

Presenças confirmadas:

A dupla canadense Junior Boys, os ingleses do Neon Neon, o guitarrista norte-americano Bill Frisell, o trompetista polonês Tomasz Stanko, o italiano Enrico Pieranunzi, o DJ inglês Yoda, e os brasileiros Marcelo Camelo (em show solo acompanhado do grupo paulista do Hurtmold), Sany Pitbull, o grupo Cérebro Eletrônico, Sonny Rollins, Paul Weller, Carla Bley, Stacey Kent, Klaxons, The Gossip, Esperanza Spalding, Kanye West, Gogol Bordello, MGMT e The National.

Ok ok, não achei tão fenomenal assim, mas farei tudo nessa vida para ver o Kanye em sua apresentação MAIS LUXO IMPOSSÍVEL : Glow in the Dark. Pra quem já viu algo na TV sobre o show, é fenomenalmente lindo, mas vamos ver como vai ser a estrutura aqui...

Não puxando somente o saco deste ser divino, creio que o mais esperado é o MGMT, banda tchuupitchura, o show deve ser animadinho!

While I may lay claim to following some of the groups and artists on the list for a good while. Several of the bands on the list have been heavily influenced by what I've heard others talking about this year, or even this last month.

Here's the last 7 days of my choice of music, according to Last.FM.

This band has been a favourite of mine for the past three months! The music the play is so varied from song to song which means I never get tired of listening to them. Late of the Pier is a four piece UK band formed in 2001-

- and their most famous single is 'The Bears Are Coming' and it is actually one of my favourite songs from them. Their music could be classified as nu-rave as they do have a band formation and instruments but like Klaxons and Shitdisco, they include a lot of snyths and electro sounds in their music. I highly recommend this band as I've forced my friends to listen to them and have only heard good reviews! Each song has different levels of band instrument music and synthetic electro sounds so at least ONE song will be liked by all.

Until recently they've only got a few singles out and a bunch of songs that aren't officially on their album- but now (since 11th August) they've released their first album! Look out for it!

Não há preços nem datas para o início das vendas dos ingressos (talvez eles 'vazem', como no ano passado).

Só temos, por enquanto, esses nomes ridículos que dividem os temas de cada noite. Meus preferidos: Bossa Mod (hahaha), Noite de Gala (existia um programa de TV tosco com esse nome, né?), Novas Raves (soooo 2007! por que não blog-house?) e Sophisticated Ladies (Vitor Fasano estará lá). Sério Tim Festival, alguém recebeu para pensar nesses nomes?

E essa prorgramação do RJ, ein? A mesma pessoa não pode gostar de Kanye e MGMT, não? E Paul Welle e Klaxons?

Tosqueiras a parte, fico feliz que o Tim tenha guardado boas surpresas como o Neon Neon (projeto novo do Gruff Rhys do Super Furry Animals) e a dupla canadense Junior Boys.

Enfim: sua vez, Planeta Terra!

Schnell fällt auf, dass der Bandsound noch elektronischer geworden ist, der ganz frühe Indierock der Band ist nun scheinbar endgültig Indietronic gewichen. Gleich im Track "Get Seduced" wird auch die Richtung klar, die das Album einschlagen wird, weg vom leicht düsteren New Rave-Sound, hin zu einem kühleren, futuristischeren Sound in bester Kraftwerk-Tradition. Damit ist leider auch die extreme Tanzbarkeit der The Faint Musteralben "Danse Macabre" und "Wet From Birth" einer teilweise unterkühlten, fast roboterhaften Sound. Dabei entstehen vertrackte Songs, wie "Machine In The Ghost", bei dem quäkende, quietschende Computersounds einen monotonen Beat und eine verzerrte Stimme treffen. Hits sind mit "The Geeks Were Right" und "A Battle Hymn For Children" auch auf dem Album enthalten, leider sind diese deshalb Hits, weil sie noch am ehesten an die Vorgängeralben erinnern. Der Fortschritt und die stetige Weiterentwicklung, die diese Band seit Mitte der 90er ausgezeichnet und zu so etwas wie Wegbereitern für Bands, wie Dúnè, Late Of The Pier und die unsäglichen Klaxons gemacht hat, scheint die Band auf eine kreative Schotterpiste geführt zu haben. Das ausgerechnet in dem Moment, in dem der frühere Retro New Rave Sound von The Faint en vogue ist und ihnen den ganz großen Erfolg beschert hätte, den nun andere ernten werden. Aber, The Faint sind noch lange nicht am Ende ihrer Entwicklung und so kann man sicherlich gespannt sein, wo dieser die Band hinführt.

Durante mis vacaciones londinenses oí hablar de este nuevo grupo británico que va camino de convertirse en el nuevo "hype" de la temporada, dispuesto a competir con MGMT, Vampire Weekend y Foals por este dudoso honor. No obstante, las influencias de los anteriores -salvo en el caso de Foals, copia barata de los sobrevalorados Klaxons- eran más que interesantes (Flaming Lips, Talking Heads), mientras las de Fantasy Black Channel no invitan al optimismo: Klaxons (otra vez, la new rave está de moda), Bloc Party, Boy Kill Boy, Muse... De una mezcla de tanto grupo británico de masas no podía salir nada bueno. O sí, porque si a ese batiburrillo le unes una pizca de Devo, una cucharadita de Prince, toques de Daft Punk y una dosis melódica de Sparks, entonces sí, hay algo de aire fresco en la propuesta.

Cuando arranca esa fanfarria de intro, la primera asociación nos lleva a Muse... Vale, es sólo la intro, pero no invita precisamente a un optimismo desaforado (¿otra copia de una copia?). "Broken", tampoco mejora la impresión: guitarras sinuosas y ritmos acelerados que recuerdan a los recientes hypes británicos, especialmente a los Bloc Party de Silent Alarm. Entonces arranca "Space and Woods" primer single del grupo (que sacó cuatro antes de que saliera el disco), y aunque las referencias siguen siendo demasiado previsibles, hay un atisbo de esperanza, gracias a unos cambios de ritmo estimulantes y una acertada dosis de efectos electrónicos. Eso, unido a unos teclados ochenteros, vale para aportar la primera canción interesante de este debut.

Sin embargo no es nada comparado con el verdadero "hit" del disco: The Bears Are Coming. Una explosiva mezcla de las percusiones de MIA, los ritmos tribales de Animal Collective y la fiesta rave de Klaxons. Alocada y genial, la canción marca el rumbo a seguir por estos cuatro jóvenes de Castle Donington. Escuchar la blanda "Ramdom Firl" tras la adrenalina descargada en la anterior es, como poco, deprimente. Al menos "Hearbeat" (el último single), pese a que es lo más comercial del álbum, y "Whitesnake", potente, pegadiza y con ese punto "hoolingan" que tanto gusta a los ingleses, recuperan el pulso del disco. "Whitesnake" destaca además porque es la primera canción donde la influencia melódica de Sparks se hace patente.

Tras otra instrumental insustancial, llega "Focker", lo más cercano al sonido típico de Klaxons que hay en el disco (con dosis de Daft Punk y una melodía cercana a Muse) y, sobre todo, "The Enemy Are The Future", donde el espíritu de Sparks ha poseído a un grupo de adolescentes con acné. De ahí al final sólo queda otra vuelta de tuerca a las guitarras de Franz Ferdinand, y una traca final de órdago: Bathroom Gurgle, apocalíptica, oscura y retorcida. Un final que deja con ganas de más, pese a la sensación agridulce de que este es un debut con cinco buenas canciones, letras crípticas en muchas ocasiones y demasiado relleno. Habrá que estar atentos a su evolución.

This track climbs and climbs till the point where you can’t really believe it anymore. The original track is close to being a classic, but Soulwax still manage to breathe new life into it.

6: Justice - Phantom Pt. II (Soulwax Remix)

I don't really know if this can be labelled as a proper remix, things are basically just taken from loud to even louder here. But Soulwax prove that they've been in the business for a while and they manage to put some structure into Justice's chaotic universe. Also, the silent-to-epic climax part halfway through the track is huuuuge!

5: Robbie Williams - Lovelight (Soulwax Ravelight Dub)

Robbie Williams has been associated with clichés and mediocrity for a long time, and it isn't the most obvious choice of a remix, but the result speaks for itself. Taking a rather blunt pop song and transforming it into nothing short of a rave monster is truly an achievement! Williams' role is relatively small in this, but who cares about that when Soulwax are determined to take your party beyond all limits. Huge is still the only word I can think of.

4: The Rolling Stones - You Can't Always Get What You Want (2008 Soulwax Remix)

I find it hard to imagine exactly how you may feel if one of the biggest bands of the world asked you to remix them. Naturally The Rolling Stones are pretty serious about their music (they even had a representative present during the making of the remix), but I like to imagine that this remix represents everything the Stones would have liked to be today. Just terribly funky and groovy..

3: LCD Soundsystem - Get Innocuous! (Soulwax Remix)

The original version of Get Innocuous is pretty hard to beat. A track building through almost endless repetition taking listeners on a journey in space and time. That being said, Soulwax killed this remix beyond my wildest hopes and dreams. The build-up is still there, but when this track takes off things just go nuts.

2: Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor (Soulwax Dub)

I've been fond of tracks on the edge between the hardcore bangery stuff and the more melancholic stuff. On this track, Soulwax show exactly why they are regarded as top notch remixers. Created only with very few elements from the original track they add both nerve and intensity to this track and the climax just tears the place apart.

New rave is dead and has been for a long time. But does that mean that you can't have fun with sirens and insane tracks? Of course not, and Soulwax gives an outstanding lesson in how to party hard on this track. I don't really have much to say about this one, other than the fact that it always makes me dance in the most absurd ways. I hope you would like to dance with me on this one

Näidiseks üks tõeline küttelugu: Klaxons - Magick

Nagu sellest veel vähe oleks, esineb juba 12. septembril Juuksuris instrumentaalbänd Bell Orchestre Kanadast (tänud Martinile operatiivse info eest). Muidugi mõista hoopis teist sorti asi kui Klaxons, aga nende mõlema ilu peitub lihtsalt eri tasandeil. Kiire nagu ma olen, õnnestus endale isegi tasuta pääse saada, mis tähendab, et juba teist korda elus saan Sarah Neufeldi ja Richard Perryt (mõlemad Arcade Fire'i liikmed) näha ilma piletit ostmata! Lisaks toimub enne kontserti foorum-seminar, kus käsitletakse "intellektuaalse rockmuusika seoseid džässi ja klassikalise muusikaga". Sõna võtavad nii kohalikud muusikatargad kui ka Bell Orchestre'i liikmed. Tundub ju väga huvitav, eksole.

Viimasel ajal tuleb südamerütmihäireid põhjustavaid kontserditeateid nii tihti, et oh-oh-hoo! Mul on lausa hea meel, et on põhjust raha kulutada nii meeliülendavaile asjadele.

Sigur Rósi kontserdist on sellest kirjutamiseks juba natuke liiga kaua aega möödas ja pealegi olen ma vahepeal ära kasutanud kogu oma muusikakirjeldamise sõnavara (paarileheküljeline kasutusjuhend omatehtud dvd-le, mille ma praktiliselt sunniviisiliselt kellelegi pihku surusin). Ma ei kuulu selliste Sigur Rósi andunud fännide hulka, kes kontserdil soolasambana seisid ja kahe käega peast kinni hoidsid, aga mu viimase viie aasta Top 100 bändide edetabelis on nad esikümnes kindlasti. Ma usun, et kes juba kontserdile tulid, said ootustele vastava (või neid ületava) elamuse osaks. Kõik oli lihtalt NII ILUS - alustades Orri sürridest botastest ja nende kõigi sädelevaist nägudest ning lõpetades puruksmängitud kitarripoogna ja Jónsi falsetiga. Minu meelest on nende lugude hiilivalt lömastav jõud tuntav ka kodustes oludes kuulates, aga laivis on see muidugi ilmsem ja vahetum. Võimaluse korral oleksin neid kuulanud-vaadanud mõne padja najal lamaskledes, aga mis parata, tuli seismisega leppida. Nii mõneski mõttes mõjus see kontsert mulle nagu mullune Arcade Fire'i elamus Ferraras, kuigi viimase bändiga on mul vist aegade jooksul kirglikum suhe olnud...

Kas keegi oskab pakkuda, miks mulle on jäänud mulje, et Sigur Rósi truima fänkonna moodustavad meesisikud vanuses 20±3 ja 31±3 aastat? Mulle millegipärast tundub nii, kuigi ma ei oska isegi mitte endale ühtki head põhjendust välja pakkuda.
