Nel cast anche Alfred Molina, che interpreta lo Sceicco Amar. Scritto da Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner e Boaz Yakin, il film è basato sulla trama principale del creatore dei popolare videogame, Jordan Mechner. Le riprese dovrebbero iniziare a breve e si svolgeranno in giro per il Mondo.

Starring alongside Jake Gyllenhaal is Ben Kingsley, Alfred Molina and Gemma Arterton. The film will hit teathers in the Summer of 2010.

The latest entry in the Harry Potter saga could be retitled Fast Times at Hogwarts, where finding a date to the winter ball is nearly as terrifying as worrying about Lord Voldemort's return. Thus, the young wizards' entry into puberty (and discovery of the opposite sex) opens up a rich mining field to balance out the dark content in the fourth movie (and the stories are only going to get darker). Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral) handily takes the directing reins and eases his young cast through awkward growth spurts into true young actors. Harry (Daniel Radcliffe, more sure of himself) has his first girl crush on fellow student Cho Chang (Katie Leung), and has his first big fight with best bud Ron (Rupert Grint). Meanwhile, Ron's underlying romantic tension with Hermione (Emma Watson) comes to a head over the winter ball, and when she makes one of those girl-into-woman Cinderella entrances, the boys' reactions indicate they've all crossed a threshold.

But don't worry, there's plenty of wizardry and action in Goblet of Fire. When the deadly Triwizard Tournament is hosted by Hogwarts, Harry finds his name mysteriously submitted (and chosen) to compete against wizards from two neighboring academies, as well as another Hogwarts student. The competition scenes are magnificently shot, with much-improved CGI effects (particularly the underwater challenge). And the climactic confrontation with Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes, in a brilliant bit of casting) is the most thrilling yet. Goblet, the first installment to get a PG-13 rating, contains some violence as well as disturbing images for kids and some barely shrouded references at sexual awakening (Harry's bath scene in particular). The 2 1/2-hour film, lean considering it came from a 734-page book, trims out subplots about house-elves (they're not missed) and gives little screen time to the standard crew of the other Potter films, but adds in more of Britain's finest actors to the cast, such as Brendan Gleeson as Mad-Eye Moody and Miranda Richardson as Rita Skeeter. Michael Gambon, in his second round as Professor Dumbledore, still hasn't brought audiences around to his interpretation of the role he took over after Richard Harris died, but it's a small smudge in an otherwise spotless adaptation. --Ellen A. Eu não li o livro ao qual o filme foi baseado. Logo, vou me ater a história do filme. E qual seria ela?

É uma longa, longa... e longa história de amor... Que atravessou mais de meio século para então se consagrar. No início, dois jovens não puderam levar a frente o amor por imposição do pai da jovem. Pois ele queria um marido rico para a filha. O jovem em questão trabalhava nos Correios. Foi quando ao entregar um telegrama, que a viu.

Amor à primeira vista, da parte dele. Pois dela, fora mais por se sentir admirada. Como também, por ser a musa inspiradora das poesias dele. Pois a paixão percorrendo seu corpo, foi pelo médico tocando em seu corpo. O jovem até que tentou ser fiel em se manter casto, mas quando foi agarrado por uma misteriosa e voluptuosa mulher, também pode se deliciar com os prazeres da carne. E estando sua amada casada, decidiu que esperaria por ela, mas sem deixar de transar.

Decidiu anotar cada uma das experiências. Algumas, totalmente descartáveis. Outras, ganharam versos nessa sua caderneta. E foram muitas, essas aventuras.

Quando o seu primeiro amor ficou viúva, ele já sendo um homem rico, resolveu reconquistá-la. Levou mais um tempo nisso. Até que ela por fim, cedeu. Deixando uma dúvida se para ele foi mesmo amor, ou a conquista/transa mais difícil que faltava no caderninho.

Sei que estou contando a trama central. Um baita spoiler. Poderia até dizer que é para poupa-lhes tempo indo assistir outro. Até é. Mas é também para mostrar que, se o roteiro tivesse apenas se inspirado na obra de Gabriel Garcia Márquez, diminuindo o tempo de duração do filme, essa história poderia ter sido contada bem melhor. Mas do jeito que está, o filme ficou sonolento. Eu cochilei várias, como tive que fazer força para ir até o final do filme. Isso, porque na primeira vez que tentei ver, eu dormi direto.

Péssimo filme. Atuações medíocres. Não recomendo a ninguém.

Considering that ive played all the 3 modern Prince of Persia game titles, I thoroughly enjoyed the first and the third installments of the games. Its also kinda cool that the movie is gonna be loosely based on the trilogy, adding to the fact that the title of the movie is Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time. So naturally, you would think that the story, the environments, the theme and finally the costumes would be based on the first installment of the game. Well not so.

Finally the images of Jake Gyllenhaal in his princely costume have been released all over the internet. In all its glory with the cosmetics, and dirt,dust on his body and face.

The moment i saw this picture, i told myself. It looks good. In fact, it was better than i expected really. I had little to no faith in having Jake play out this important role, but after looking at this image, he might, JUST might, play a good role as a prince in the upcoming movie.By the looks of it, he certainly has gained some mass just to play out in this nimble and acrobatic prince. So far it has been a faithful reproduction of the original video game franchise. Just look at the concept image of the prince. (click to see it bigger)

Pretty good huh? But what got me puzzled is why this costume? This costume is used in the third part of the series, Prince of Persia The Two Thrones. Is the producer using materials from all 3 parts of the game to make a single movie? Are they mixing certain video game elements of all three games to give unique flavour for the movie? Whats the storyline like? Are they going to follow certain elements of the first movie, or all three, or something completely different?  Only time will tell and we have more than 2 years to speculate before the movie is officially released in summer of 2010.

It was originally slated for summer of 09, but it got pushed back a year. Reports states the delay was to give more time for post production and special effects team to really make a good movie and be successful in bringing life to this amazing franchise onto the big screen. Others state that the competition for next year's blockbuster movies, mainly the release of Transformers 2, would dampen the potential success of Prince of Persia. It would be interesting to see Michael Bay and Jerry Bruckheimer battle it out during the period, but it seems that this would not be the case any more.

For fans of Prince of Persia (like me) a brand new video game franchise is in the works, the first due end of this year. The new game would feature new gameplay styles, new graphics direction, a new female character, Elika, and above all, an all new Prince.

Prince Of Persia, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s big tentpole for the summer of 2009, has just become Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer’s big tentpole for the summer of 2010. Yes, the Mike Newell-directed videogame adaptation, which started shooting last week in Morocco, has been pushed back by nearly a year, from June 19, 2009 to Memorial Day weekend in 2010. For those of you who don’t know when Memorial Day, don’t worry – it’s at the end of May.

The reason for the delay? To finish the thing and to get the special effects absolutely right, which is very commendable. Then again, it’s hard not to sympathise with the caution shown here by Bruckheimer and Disney, for whom the hope is that the Jake Gyllenhaal-starrer will be another Pirates Of The Caribbean-style cash cow.  The move into 2010 takes Prince Of Persia away from Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, which would have opened a week later. In its place, though, Disney has moved up its Ryan Reynolds-Sandra Bullock rom-com, The Proposal – or The Counterprogrammer, as it perhaps should now be known.

It will now open, in 2010, one week after Shrek Goes Fourth, with nothing currently scheduled to go up against it. We must say that it seems strange for movies to be staking out release dates two, sometimes three years in advance, but the stakes are higher than ever these days (God, I sound old), so you can’t blame studios for indulging in what Kurt Cobain would have referred to as territorial pissings (and that reference really makes me sound old).

A former Kansas City Wizards employee has filed a sexual harassment suit against OnGoal LLC, the Kansas City-based company that owns the MLS team.

The suit makes the following allegations.

• Company officials would view prospective female employees' Facebook and MySpace pages to judge their physical appearance before hiring.
• Men in the company "held drafts" of young female employees with whom they would want to have sex.
• Specific verbal harassment from Greg Cotten (the executive vice-president) and Robert Thomson Jr. (VP of Marketing and Communications)

Sexism is nothing new in soccer.  Before assuming the FIFA presidency, Sepp Blatter was president of the World Society of Friends of Suspenders, a group of fetishists formed in the 1970's to protest women wearing pantyhose instead of garter belts and stockings.

Blatter also inspired controversy in 2004, when he suggested that female soccer players should wear tighter shorts to promote a "more female aesthetic."

Former Luton manager Mike Newell also once called female referees "tokenism, for the politically correct idiots."

In an industry dominated by males on the pitch, off the pitch and in the papers, a certain amount of sexism is inevitable (see the WAG obsession).  But how much of an idiot do you have to be to not realize that holding "drafts" of female employees might irk at least one of them?

O site IMDB atualizou a lista das maiores bilheterias de todos os tempos, contabilizadas desde a criação da indústria hollywoodiana, a partir da década de 20.

Titanic, de James Cameron, continua sendo o longa de maior sucesso já lançado. Entre 1996 e 1998, o fenômeno arrecadou US$ 1,835 bi. Senhor dos Anéis - O Retorno do Rei, de Peter Jackson, vem em segundo lugar, com US$ 1,118 bi no mundo todo. O filme também empata com Titanic no quesito premiações: ambos ganharam 11 Oscars, o recorde da Academia.

A franquia Piratas do Caribe não fica para trás. O segundo filme da série, O Baú da Morte, lançado em 2006, alcançou US$ 1,060 bi nos cinemas.

1 - Titanic (1996)

Quando James Cameron levou à frente seu projeto de mostrar um romance no navio Titanic, que naufragou em 1912 matando mais de 1500 tripulantes, pouca gente quis apostar no cineasta, exceto a Fox, que logo desembolsou US$ 130 mi para a produção grandiosa. Depois de um mês de gravação e diante dos protestos dos funcionários e atores que participaram do longa-metragem - eles ficavam horas rodando cenas dentro de tanques com água gelada, para manter o realismo do naufrágio -, o orçamento aumentou ainda mais - atingindo a marca de US$ 200 mi - e Cameron teve que captar recursos para conseguir concluir as filmagens. 3 - Piratas do Caribe - O Baú da Morte

Quando Hollywood cria uma franquia de grande sucesso, a idéia é que ela se prolongue. Com Piratas do Caribe não foi diferente. Após o sucesso da primeira parte, o segundo filme da série entrou para o "ranking" dos três filmes que conseguiram superar mais de US$ 1 bilhão em bilheterias. O filme custou US$ 225 milhões e arrecadou US$ 135 milhões no final de semana de estréia somente nos Estados Unidos. Como quase toda boa produção, um acidente cercou as filmagens. O último filme da franquia Harry Potter tornou-se um sucesso de público quase tão cultuado quanto a versão original. A direção de David Yates deixou a série mais adulta e obscura, ganhando pontos entre os espectadores que já não se identificavam com a saga infanto-juvenil do bruxinho. Harry Potter e a Ordem da Fênix também teve uma base de apoio. Quase simultaneamente ao lançamento do filme, o último livro escrito por J.K. O lançamento de A Ameaça Fantasma foi apoiado em um grande comentário. Pela primeira vez, após mais de 16 anos longe da franquia Star Wars, George Lucas decidiu retomá-la com a primeira parte de uma trilogia que antecede os eventos narrados no filme original. A Ameaça Fantsma não foi bem recebida pela crítica por diversos motivos: seus personagens não eram cativantes o bastante e o excesso de efeitos especiais - todas as cenas eram rodadas com um painel verde atrás dos atores - fez com que a série "perdesse parte de sua magia". Mesmo assim, os fãs fiéis, que em 1977 lotaram as salas para ver a primeira parte, compareceram em peso e o filme permanece entre os mais bem-sucedidos da história. 10 - Harry Potter e o Cálice de Fogo

O quarto filme da franquia Harry Potter mostrou o talento do diretor britânico Mike Newell para filmes de ficção. Nas telas, Newell conseguiu transportar uma verdadeira aventura de Harry Potter com efeitos impressionantes, ação e umas pitadas de romance, fieis à obra de J.K. Rowling. As boas críticas e a adoração dos fãs fizeram com que Newell fosse eleito um dos diretores oficiais de Harry Potter.

Jake Gyllenhaal ha sido el elegido. De hecho, ya confirmaron la firma del contrato y todo. Este actor con cara de asustado -más que de héroe de acción- será quien luche por corregir los errores causados por aquellas arenas del reloj del tiempo. El próximo año veremos el resultado.

Bueno, siempre pudo ser peor. Imaginen esta película con Orlando Bloom y dirigida por Steven Spielberg.

Nada foi dito sobre os personagens que eles irão interpretar. Mas eu daria tudo para ver o Bem Kingsley como vilão. XD

Es triste que ni Javier Bardem logre rescatar esta cinta de la mediocridad. Desde que arranca la película uno siente esa incomodidad natural de escuchar a los actores hablando un inglés que insulta, digno de una clase de idiomas en nivel básico y no puede evadir la pregunta: si la obra es tan buena, es orginaria de Latinoamerica... ¿por qué no hacerla en Español? ¿Por qué la necesidad de poner Giovanna Mezzogiorno a balbucear un inglés que parece aprendido al oído? Ya desde ahí se siente a un Bardem desperdiciado, pues su presencia en el idioma original hubiera añadido cierto sabor de pertenencia a la trama, sobretodo si la música que pretende acompañar las imágenes es de Shakira, lo cual pasa más por un extraño sentimiento de forzar con calzador la presencia colombiana que por una verdadera justificación del conjunto de la obra cinematográfica. Pero continuemos.

Lo que el director Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) hace es una selección casi al azar de escenas y secuencias del libro y las acomoda cronologicamente en su particular visión de la cinta. El problema es que lo hace rompiendo todo el trasfondo y la importancia del por qué esas escenas están en el libro, en primer lugar. Por ejemplo, la escena en la que Fermina Daza come y disfruta un puré de berenjenas parece contado más como simple elemento anecdotario que como una verdadera transformación del personaje que tenía sus razones psicológicas y sociales para odiar el dichoso ingrediente. O, también, todo el asunto de la serenata con violín de Florentino Ariza queda como un elemento más del decorado escénico. A través de poco más de dos horas conocemos el amor eterno de Florentino Ariza por Fermina Daza, pero no sabemos más allá del mismo... no conocemos las razones, la profundidad del mismo, lo irrompible de las ilusiones. Esta dinámica de olvido que Florentino hace a través del sexo indiscriminado con más de 600 mujeres parece más una anécdota de hombres machos y misóginos que el laberinto intrincado para ocultar la quintaesencia del amor por aquella mujer, lo que le rompe toda la fuerza a uno de los últimos diálogos que Bardem tiene en la cinta.

En resúmen, la película es un infieron de 139 minutos. Las canciones de la colombiana Shakira suenan bien en el Ipod o en un disco recopilatorio de música en español pero, ya vistas en la pantalla, en combinación con las imágenes, son inadecuadas al exceso. Sólo dos obras de García Marquez se han llevado a la pantalla: Crónica de una Muerte Anunciada y ésta. No me imagino que García Marquez se aviente a ceder los derechos de una tercera.

Por último, ¿por qué les ponía algunos ejemplos de los DVD que tengo entre mi colección de cine basura? Porque imaginen mi disgusto cuando terminó la cinta que saqué el disco del reproductor, lo metí en su caja y, sin ceremonias o remordimientos, lo eché en una bolsa de basura que, en este momento, ya debe de estar en algún tiradero municipal. Véanla bajo su propio riesgo.

Inizialmente il protagonista della pellicola di casa Disney, diretta da Mike Newell e prodotta dal Re Mida dei blockbuster Jerry Bruckheimer, avrebbe dovuto avere le fattezze di David Zandi (che un pricipe persiano lo è davvero), scelto - era stato detto - a furor di popolo attraverso un sondaggio rivolto ai fans del videogioco.

Ora l'Hollywood Reporter conferma che Jake Gyllenhaal interpreterà Dastan, il Principe protagonista dell'avventura fantasy prodotta dalla Walt Disney Pictures e da Jerry Brukheimer. L'adattamento del celebre videogame sarà diretto da Mike Newell, già regista di Harry Potter e il Calice di Fuoco. Scritto da Doug Miro, Carlo Bernard, Jordan Mechner e Boaz Yakin, il film è basato sulla trama principale del creatore dei videogame, Jordan Mechner. Le riprese inizieranno a luglio e si svolgeranno in giro per il Mondo.

Jake já é um velho conhecido, atuando em produções como O Dia Depois de Amanhã e O Segredo de Brokeback Mountain. Já Gemma é nova no pedaço, mas ela viverá uma Bond Girl no próximo 007.

Esse é outro filme que promete. E muito! Uma equipe poderosa está por trás dele. O filme será dirigido por Mike Newell e produzido por Jerry Bruckheimer.

O filme começa a ser filmado em julho no Marrocos e com previsão de estréia para 10 de Julho de 2009.
