The 6 Olympic cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Qingdao, Shenyang (Qinghuangdao) and Hong Kong.  Of course, the country where they are located has it's own design as well.

The demitasse set is a 2 mini-mug (3 oz) set of a city and the country design.  The different sets are available in Beijing.  The city tumblers are quite difficult to purchase but you can be assured only of the Beijing, China and Tianjin.  The mugs are a hit and miss here in Beijing.   Some store carry all mugs while the others just carry Beijing, China and Tianjin.

For my friends in the Philippines who would like to collect them, I have a friend going home on the 28th of September.  I would be willing to assist you with your collection for a minor increase to cover my expense in purchasing and sending it over to the Philippines.  Send me a comment for details.

Before beginning to write this I sat slumped in a sea-green faux leather chair with my right arm resting on its elbow holding a coffee cup. I stared blankly at a laptop screen wishing I had some work to do to allow the hours until ‘home-time’ to tick by unnoticed, that’s when I suddenly realized just how perfect the coffee cup that warmed my hand was.

It was just a small cup, white like paper and with a glossy finish, one of many that were delivered to the restaurant I work in. But the way it ‘felt’ as it sat in my hand was pleasing, and it was nicer to drink from than other cups. Perhaps I liked this cup more because it was brand new, unused, unworn, or maybe I could see perfection in the form of this little coffee cup.

It amazed me that such an ‘object’ made from materials processed by Man could have such an effect on my thoughts. It made me think of Plato’s ‘Forms’, of which the book ‘A Beginners Guide to Plato’ touched upon, mentioning briefly the fact that we, (humans), have some innate understanding of what perfection is and that we can identify its manifestation when its presented before us.

I then went on to think how others will view ‘perfection’, and I doubt that anyone else will so much as care to notice these new coffee cups, maybe they will not see the perfection in the cups’ form, but them I’m sure I’ll fail to notice the perfection they see in other objects.

C'est donc en surfant sur le web ("charlotte's web"?? ^^, charlotte est l'une des créatrices du blog ndlr), que nous avons trouvé cet objet insolite censé éveiller les consciences...Le principe est tel que lorsque l'on verse un liquide chaud dans ce mug, les continents rétrécissent...nous rappelant que le niveau des océans augmentent chaque année et que la fiction dépassera sans doute la réalité. De quoi effrayer les plus réfractaires aux gestes écologiques.. mouahhh ahh ahh ahh (rire diabolique, ndlr)..

Le problème quand on est réfractaire, est que l'on va volontairement à l'encontre de ce qu'on est censés faire. Alors est ce que ce gadget leur ferait changer de bord? On aimerait bien.. On peut espérer qu'au moins ca touchera les enfants car c'est toujours cool d'apprendre en s'amusant. Alors si t'as une nièce ou un petit frère penses-y. go on my id box. Tu y trouveras en plus d'objets écolos, d'autres complètement originaux..dur d'être à court d'idées cadeaux après ça (entre le bloc vodoo, la couette twister..) !

It's all kind of kitschy, but I really like it. And I was happy to find that they were actually local artists b/c it's always kind of a let-down to go to a local art festival, only to find nationally imported art.

So why, you ask, am I using the word "business" loosely here? T-shirts and other 'Greco Goodies' are not what I specialize in. My thing is taking some hunks of wood and making them into fun, imagination provoking toys. But I'm certain that those who play with my toys would like to let others know about them, too. And what better way than through a t-shirt or coffee mug? The answer is none- none better way (OK, bad Spinal Tap reference but I couldn't resist).
