Fon is going to launch a muni-wifi initiative called Fon-city.

Trough this project , 5000 free hotspots are ready to be given away to town municipalities who will claim it.

Fon will take care of all infrastructure , routers and amplifiers to assure the coverage of public buildings , such as city hall , schools , libraries , theatres  , offices. Once the municipal network is up , the citizens can join the network simply becoming foneros and installing a social router at their home , enjoying free internet around the world and helping in increasing city coverage.

Fon is growing , help to spread the word , speak with your neighbour , speak with your municipality and let's make the dream of a user generated wifi network come true.

Dejando aparte sus posibilidades de acceder al cargo que anhela, la idea es buena, muy buena; incluso imprescindible. Y esperemos que el ejemplo cunda. Dentro de muy poco tiempo el acceso a la red ubicuo será tan necesario para la vida ciudadana como la electricidad o el agua corriente.
