The new DLC content pack for Ninja Gaiden 2 is now up on the marketplace. The pack, which costs 800 Microsoft Points and is about 150MB in size, includes mission mode, a brand-new gameplay expansion. In this all new game mode, challenge your skills in self-contained missions featuring trials and tribulations not found in the standard story mode. Karma Attack missions task you with obtaining the highest score, while Survival missions give you a single weapon to fight off as many enemies as possible. Leaderboard support is offered for all the new modes.

On the flip side of the coin, there are reported issues of the new auto-update causing the game to freeze in cinematics, at the exact same point everytime. Kind of annoying as the new content has just been released, though I have myself not experienced this, it's probably because I haven't downloaded the update yet.

The Nintendo Entertainment system was, above all other systems, a trend setter. It established so many classic characters and franchises that we have all come to love. So today we honor the NES with a top 9.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="250" caption="#9 Super Mario Bros."][/caption]

Super Mario Bros. is top to bottom one of the greatest games ever. Everything about it is near perfect, from the ingenious enemy designs, to the meticulously crafted level designs, and the unbelievably infectious music. It pretty much set the standard for every 2-D game to come after it and built the empire that is now Nintendo. This would definitely have been higher but we didn’t want to overrun the countdown with Mario games.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="250" caption="#8 Mega Man 2"][/caption]

Whoever came up with the box art sucks, everyone else involved is awesome. The blue bombers second NES outing featured an even more outlandish cast of characters just waiting to get their powers stolen. The bosses in this game are some of the best in the entire series, and that’s saying a lot given the amount of Mega Man games there are now. I particularly like Metal Man, Flash Man, and Air Man. Mega Man 2’s improvements, however, were not simply in the bosses. The controls were tightened and the music was seriously upgraded. Capcom FTW.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#7 Contra"][/caption]

Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start, put it in, grab a friend, and pray to the gods for victory. Contra is truly one of the hardest games around, but yet that’s part of the fun. It took the regular side-scrolling format, added a lot a bullets and some awesome co-op play. There isn’t too much to say about Contra in general, you're Rambo (or Arnold based off the boxart), you grab ridiculously awesome powerups, blast aliens, and watch your 30 lives get drained, really quickly.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#6 Metroid"][/caption]

No matter how you put it, Metroid was a great a game. It was the first 2D game to introduce an adventure element and create a world rather than individual levels. It was also one of the first games to have a woman as the hero. That’s fine by me because she kicks some major ass. Combine that with some great graphics and awesome music, instant classic.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#5 Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse"][/caption]

The Castlevania franchise is alive and kicking to this day. Yet as far as I’m concerned Castlevania 3 is still the best one around, except for Symphony of the Night of course. It innovated over the previous iterations by introducing several playable characters including Alucard, Grant, and Sylph. Each one played differently and followed a different path giving the game high replay value. The graphics were astounding for the time and the music as addictive as ever. If you don’t like it there’s something seriously wrong with you.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#4 Mike Tyson's Punch-Out"][/caption]

Before that loser Mr. Dream and before the infamous ear bite Mike Tyson was the baddest mofo on the planet. In that regard Punch Out was like a dream for all underdogs. Scrawny little Mac climbs the ladder defeating each racially stereotyped character he encounters, Vodka Drunkinski(only in Japan) was too funny, only to be unceremoniously annihilated by Iron Mike. Now to this day I have yet to defeat Tyson but I still try, and probably will continue to until the end of time.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#3 Ninja Gaiden 2"][/caption]

One of these games had to go on here so we chose the most difficult one, and by proxy the one we played the most. As can be seen on the boxart, Ninja Gaiden 2 will kick your ass over and over again. Almost everything about it was perfect. Awesome cut scenes that display a nonsensical storyline, some of the best 8-bit music ever, the tightest controls a side scroller has ever seen, and an extremely diverse cast of foes. Oh and by diverse I mean it, during your quest you’ll square off against football players, marines, witch things, spider throwing guys, robots, and the ultimate evil… birds. All this culminates with the inevitable showdown with Jaquio. This mother fucker didn’t have enough in the first game so he had to revive himself for a second ass kicking. Basically this took everything great about the original and improved on it.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="250" caption="#2 The Legend of Zelda"][/caption]

It's the Legend of Zelda and it's really rad,
Those creatures from Ganon are really bad,
Octorok's and Tektite's and Leever's too,
With your help our hero will pull through.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="248" caption="#1 Super Mario Bros. 3"][/caption]

Tanooki suit, Kuribo’s Shoe, Hammer Bros Suit, Frog Suit, and P Wings, Super Mario 3 is eight worlds of badass. With a new world map format as well a plethora of new items and an organizer to store those items, Mario 3 improved on the Mario formula so much that’s its almost unrecognizable, in a good way. On the familiar side, our hero is once again tasked with rescuing Princess Peach, only this time Bowser brought his kids along to make sure you don’t get the job done. Which begs the question, did Bowser bone Peach, I’m just asking where he got the kids from?

Now that we’ve listed our top 9, if anyone else is reading this, feel free to leave any comments or post your personal top 9.

Good morning to you all.

Today is the day that my xbox is fabled to make it's return, so with a little luck, a fair breeze, and the blessings of Allah i'll be playing Ninja Gaiden 2 by this afternoon. Now that the xbox is back in business i'll be doing the occasional game review, starting off with Ninja Gaiden 2 one of course.

Of course if my xbox doesn't get returned to me today for what ever reason, you can be sure i'll be leaving a post describing in massive amounts of detail, my utter hatred for the disorganization that can be readily found by asking anyone anything at any franchised store.

Today however will not only filled with gaming however, i have some work issues that need sorting out so posts may be few and far between.

As i have come to expect from Microsoft over the years is that their stuff tends to malfunction, but

As i have come to expect from Microsoft over the years is that their stuff tends to malfunction, but never the less i decided to buy an Xbox 360, and whilst my friends ones crashed around them i laughed cause my one just soldiered on. Then about 15 months after i bought it, and now 3 months over the warranty, it inevitably crashes, the 3 red flashing lights of death appear, and an error E49 message now appears in bold very final looking text every time i try to turn my system on.

After triple checking my warranty to make sure it's not under a year still, i decide to try and see if the problem can be fixed by doing some kind of system reboot, so after logging onto the xbox.com website to find some kind of step by step reboot procedure, i stumbled upon an article headlined XBOX 3 YEAR WARRANTY FAQS. I was overjoyed to find out that because so many people have been returning there Xbox's because of various system crashes, Microsoft had decided to extend there warranties to 3 years. Now overcome with excitement i decided to get mine replaced, after a short phone-call to a friendly Indian gentleman (Microsoft seem to route all the calls through to India, to save a little extra cash), I was given an access code or something like that, and was told i could go back to the store i bought it from and get it replaced.

I dashed to the store i had purchased it from and with a smile on my face and access code in hand, i dutifully went about explaining my situation and asked for a replacement. The manager with whom i'd been conversing, stared at me blankly. Eventually she sparked up with "I'd better make a phone-call!", and promptly got on the phone with a more senior member of staff I can only imagine, and left me to scan the new xbox games they had on display. I was able to read the backs of all the Xbox games, and even most of the games for the PS3 and the Wii before she got off the phone. After being filling out an array of documents she had printed, i asked if there was anything else practically with the new Xbox in my hands, when she said "Umm.... I've got to get the authorization code from the people at xbox before i can give you a new one." My heart sank. I asked with hope " Will you have it today?", "Probably not...., but i have your number and will call you as soon as i do" she replied. My head dropped and i made my way slowly back home.

That brings us to now, about 2 weeks later. During the course of me writing this, i finally recieved the phone-call i'd been waiting for. It appears my 2 weeks of bitching and complaining have finally payed off. I now just have to wait for the manager to come in tomorrow, but at least the wheels are once again in motion.

Before i sign off, i forgot to mention that on the day my system decided to crash, i had just purchased myself a copy of Ninja Gaiden 2, and as I'm sure you can imagine i was eager to severe the heads of opposing ninja forces. With that said this brings us to the end of todays rant, and if anything happens tomorrow you'll be sure to hear about it.

Mal was neues zu Ninja Gaiden 2.

Impossibilità di ottenere la "verga del valore": oggetto che permette di accedere alle omonime prove di coraggio disseminate nei livelli di gioco;

Impossibilità di ottenere la GamerPic premio: una volta trovati tutti i 30 teschi di cristalli sapientemente nascosti nei livelli di gioco si ottiene sempre ora la GamerPic esclusiva premio;

Impossibilità di utilizzare alcuni acquisti effettuati nello shop del vecchio Murasama: glitch raro, ma alcunto fastidioso che impediva di utiizzare oggetti appena acquista come ad esempio la "Vita dei 1000 dei" a meno di avere la barra di energia completamente carica;

Infinita quantità di Essenza Gialla: in alcuni livelli era possibile acquisire infita essenza gialla (quella utilizzabile per acquistare potenziamenti);

So...Ninja Gaiden 2...Finally beat it. After days of trying. And then there was the whole selling my soul business - yeah, it didn't go over well with my girlfriend either. The final bosses actually seem to slack off in difficulty as the last chapter unfolds. Genshin - well, he's never been too much of a hardcase, but this last time he's just a pushover. The other bosses (don't worry, I won't spoil it for you) slide downhill from there. Hold your horses, that's not to say they aren't difficult and frustrating to the extreme, but I'm simply pointing out that I expected a little bit more from a game as legendarily difficult as Ninja Gaiden.

My advice to all novice Ninjas out there - level up your Dragon Sword and Eclipse Scythe to max. And keep your herbs and grains well-stocked. Nothing else matters. No, seriously, I leveled the entirety of my armory just for S&G, and I enjoyed thwacking bad guys and grinding epic mobs with the Kusari-Gama and the Vigoorian Flails - especially in this one part near the end where Black Spider Clan ninjas flood the screen; I'm talking so many enemy AIs that the frame rate slowed to a trickle - but honestly, I never, not even once, used anything but the Dragon Sword lvl. 3 or the Eclipse Scythe lvl. 3 on a boss. They cut through anything like hot butter.

I loved every minute of the gory, violent art that is Ninja Gaiden 2. And I'm about to replay it on the Warrior difficulty in my spiffy new red suit. I know, I know, I'm a glutton for punishment.

In other news, I hope to replace my stolen wireless adapter for my 360 soon! You know what that means - Durden10 will return to wreak havoc on the internets who have abandoned him for so long...Also, if you check out the latest Bungie.net update, you'll find all sorts of neat technical info about the difference between the Halo 3 BR and the killing machine that was Halo 2's BR. I never thought that they put quite that much thought into the functionality of a weapon, but in summary, they're just telling you to lead your freaking target!

Ninja Gaiden 2 is proving to be quite a difficult challenge, even on the lowest difficulty setting. I'm on Chapter 9 out of 14, and the game is still bringing up new enemies and new situations to test my skills, including wave after wave of bony monsters and ninjas with bazookas (freakin' bazookas? They had high explosives in Tokugawa-era Japan? Honestly...) as well as huge worms that come flying in from all directions. The bosses never fail to be imaginative, though a few have relatively simple weaknesses to exploit. This game is very engrossing, and even after dying numerous times, I still have the will to go on. More updates as my quest continues...

By Dimorphic

By Dimorphic

As you look around the battlefield, limbs and decapitated bodies laying still on the ground, an errie silence washes over you. All the noise of only a few minutes ago has been washed away, cleansed by wind and time. You fling the blood off of your blade, place it back in its holder and continue forward only to hear the all too familiar sound of footsteps rushing toward you. Again you remove your blade.

Legendary ninja Rya Hayabusa is back in Ninja Gaiden 2, the sequal to the fantastic Ninja Gaiden seen on the original Xbox. Ninja Gaiden has always been known for its graphical violence and excruciating, unforgiving difficulty levels and its good to see that both of those aspects have made triuphant returns in the sequal.

Ninja Gaiden 2 begins in a stylised recreation of Tokyo, set in the future. Flying cars and dropships fill the night sky as the camera pans around a very well rendered cityscape. Its here that you get a look at the graphical power behind NG2, everything looks fantastic, and that goes for the character models, fighting animations and levels as well. The story begins with CIA agent Sonia being kidnapped by the Black Spider Ninja Clan while looking to deliver Ryu a message about the Archfiend. Ryu arrives just in time to see her being taken away and the first mission sees you fighting to free her.

The story is one of the strong aspects of this game, incorporating aspects from the series past as well as new narrative to make an intruiging and compelling story. I won't spoil it here, but suffice to say you'll be fighting ancient demons in an attempt to save the world from total obliteration, as well as exacting revenge on the Black Spider Ninja Clan, the Hayabusa clan's most ancient rival.

The gameplay in Ninja Gaiden 2 is very similar to what was found in the original. It's very fast paced and revolves around blocking, countering and combo moves to defeat vast amounts of eneimes. In fact there are many times in the game that you will be completely surrounded and unless you know the moves for the weapons you have you will be quickly overrun. Button mashing will not get you very far in this game, you have to know what your doing.

The 'X' and 'Y' buttons control the combat, 'X' is used for quick attacks and 'Y' for power attacks. Combining these as well as moving in certian directions will unleash many varied and vicious attacks on anyone foolish enough to stand in your way. You block with the left trigger and if timed correctly just after blocking an attack can retaliate with a quick counter move by pressing one of the attack buttons. Blocking becomes a life saver against bosses and later in the game where the amount of enemies your facing increases ten-fold.

Along with these combo moves are two new additions to Ninja Gaiden, the ultimate and obliteration techniques. Obliteration techniques are quite simple to use, simply pree 'Y' near and enemy that has lost a limb (or two) and Ryu will perform a punishing finishing move that will put them out of their misery for good. Ultimate techniques require you to hold down the 'Y' button to power up an attack, which when released unleashed a powerful automatic combo that blends anything in its path.

As well as physical combat you also have access to various Nimpos, magical energy attacks that Ryu can unleash as long as he has enough magic essence. These Nimpos are great for clearing out small areas or giving yourself some room to move. They start off relativley weak, targetig just one enemy in a group but as you level them up they can hit more and more. The strategic value in using Nimpo attacks is that while you are casting them you are temporarily invicible, so they are great to use in the boss fights.

The boss fights in the game are just as fun and outrageous as they were in the first game. You'll tackle each boss at least twice as most of the time you will die the first time fighting them. This dosen't really matter however as eventually you learn a bosses set patterns and weak points and it is very satisfying beating them. These bosses take the form of a number of giant monsters and demons as well as in a large number of locations, such as Alexi, the greater fiend of Lightning who you fight on the top of the Statue of Liberty in New York.

The locations in the game are great. You travel all over the world from Tokyo to New York to Paris to marshlands deep in the unkown forrests of the world. One level even takes place inside and on top of a giant airship flying through the sky. They all look graphically and artistically great though one down point is how you actually arrive in these locations. At the start of every mission is a paragraph of text telling you why your here and what your doing in this level, but it never really explains how you got there. For example, in one mission your in the Hayubasa village in Japan and the next minute in the streets of New York. It kind of breaks the immersion when something like this happens as it feels disjointed and reminds you that you are playing a video game.

Just as varied as the locations are the enemies you face, ranging from ninja assassins to large flying fiends, demons and mech robots. Each has its own strength and weakness and to survive in the later stages of the game you need to know which weapons are best suited for the task at hand, and how to use them.

There are several weapons in the game, each with their own specific uses. The Dragon Blade which you start with is probably the most balanced weapon, equal in terms of strength and speed but isn't suited to every occasion. The talon blades that you wear on your hands and feet are very fast striking weapons but don't deal the damage that other weapons do. The Lunar Staff has strong combo moves and inflicts a lot of damage but is slower to use. I find myself mostly using the duel katanas. To me they are the most satisfying to use and equal to most situations in the game though there are still several more weapons tht I have not mentioned here. As well as these primary weapons you also have secondary weapons such as the famous ninja stars, incendiary shuriken blades and the Fiend's Bane bow. Certian set pieces in the game require you to use these weapons but they are also useful in general combat.

The primary weapons can be upgraded through out the game, opening up new combo's to use as well as increasing their general power. To do this you have to spend essense you've collected through battle at one of the Muramusa stores scattered through out the levels. This essense is collected from the bodies of slain enemies as well as found in chests and other smashable items. However it dosen't turn into an old school collect-a-thon to find them, they instantly are drawn to you at the end of a fight. They also come in three different types, yellow essense is used as currency at the stores while red essense powers your nimpos and blue returns some lost health. You can also by healing items at these Muramusa stores.

However Ninja Gaiden 2 is not without its faults. The camera has been the focal point of much criticsim in the 3D versions of Ninja Gaiden (NG1, NG Black and NG Sigma) and nothing has been changed in NG2 to fix it. You can center the camera by pulling the right trigger but it does little to help in the heat of battle. There have been many times that I've lost track of my enemies because I cannot see them. The camera really does hurt the game, but not enough for to be a game breaker.

Another complaint is that many enemies are cheap. They have attacks that deal out massive damage for the sake of being hard. One boss even detonates in a huge explosion after you kill it without warning, and unless your holding block you die as well. Also, some interactable environments can also be a little figity. Jumping on some ledges is harder than it should be and will often result in you falling off. Never to your death but you have to climb back to where you were, which sometimes is a real pain.

However despite its short comings Ninja Gaiden 2 is one hell of a sequal. It retains the bloodbath filled violence and difficulty of the first game while adding new abilities and techniques of its own. It will be more than a challenge for the most accomplished gamer. Ninja Gaiden 2 is everything a succesful sequal needs to be and while it does have its fair share of issues and isn't even a real evolution from the original, the good easily outwieghs the bad.

So I beat it, in about 10 hours gameplay, and i’ve tried to keep a mental log of the whole eve

So I beat it, in about 10 hours gameplay, and i've tried to keep a mental log of the whole event but to be honest it hasn't been easy because of my stop start style of play. I'm twenty-one life no longer allows me to play games without interruption so I have to grab what I can. That and the stop-start also pro-longs the gaming experience which is always better for a game you're anticipating.

First let's make it clear that I loved the first one, it is truly amazing and I'm going to say right off the bat so there are no illusions, I preferred the first one. It was longer, more engrossing, had better voice actors I think some, though not all of the weapons, were better used and one in particular (the True Dragon Sword) was far more devastating. It's also aged very well which is the true legacy of a game.

But enough of that, the game is fearsome. a combat fighter of which there is no comparison, if it was stand alone and hadn't had it's prequel we'd be talking about one of the best ever made. The game received a lot of bad press for it's tedious difficulty towards the end of the game. But i really thought after that this was a good thing, the game doesn't get repetitive because of this, at a time when you could get battle fatigue (which did happen in the first one) it draws attention away from this. Also in the first the end of the game was very easy, more so when the hardest boss comes about a quarter of the way through. Here the game gives you it's strongest punch right at the end.

There were times during the three consecutive boss fights that I begged for a 'buy guy' or a save point or some health but the game doesn't give you anything. But when I got through it and I destroyed the Archfiend I felt far more satisfaction than I did had I been given those aids.

As for the story well, it's laid out in front of you early and doesn't really change, Id complain about the setting but i've ranted about that. But it's not as good as the previous but its a pretty decent story, there are a few levels where you go to 'The Land of the Dead' a place where Greater fiends still live. Unfortunately they don't bring back Doku or Marbus from the first which may have been cool.

There is a level in which the Hayabusa village has been decimated, torched as you run through most of the first level of the first Ninja Gaiden in reverse. I don't think I took any damage on that level purely because, I love that village and was in a serious (serious) tiff that any Black Ninja mother fuckers had fucked with it so I sliced the head off every last one of them. But that was just a personal thing.

Overall I don't think it could have been any better, the combat is unparalleled , the game is neverdull it's got a lot of improvements from the first, but a few detractions from the first. Truly a stand out game.

One final note: I often complained that there was a moment you should have simply fought tons of enemies a top a temple. Clearly someone heard as in this you fight at the bottom of a temple against an army of ninjas and also fight a mass of oncoming lycanthropes in a stadium and those are two of the bset moments of the game, my ideas rule.

Wow, THAT'S pretty good isn't it? GameSpot is always a nice place to check out every now and again, and it seems they think Metal Gear Solid 4 is worth a perfect 10! They are not alone in this rating either. I've got to admit, this game both looks and sounds awesome. If only I had a PS3 to play it on...

By the way, I finally downloaded and played the Ninja Gaiden II demo. Most of it was pretty cool, but the camera was very annoying at times.
