On the back side of the boundary it follows Walnut from Barrows Road to 121st. This part of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html" title="City of Tigard - History">Tigard, Oregon</a> is partially in Tigard School district and partially in the Beaverton School District. Within the boundaries of the neighborhood are Jack Park and Summer Lake Park.</p>

<p class="flickr-yourcomment">The theme for this week's hunt is hanging.  I looked through my stuff and found this one taken in January of this year, right after a good rainstorm. As you might have heard, we're very familiar with rain here in Oregon.  It's part of what makes it so beautiful here and also why, after a long winter of rain, we appreciate our summer so much.  I love taking photographs after it rains, hence this shot, as everything always looks so fresh.  There's something about water, drops, the rain... it's life, new, and can be incredibly, and simply, beautiful.  Like these drops hanging off the bare maple tree.</p>

Hyland Forest park is the only park in the neighborhood.</p>

<div style="text-align:justify;">We wanted to get a take in on the <a href="http://rushthecourt.wordpress.com/2008/07/17/the-brandon-jennings-experiment/" target="_blank">Brandon Jennings Experiment</a>, as articulately described by N-Bug upon BJ's announcement that he'll spend his "1-and-done" year playing in Europe.  Generally, we think this will be a disaster and wouldn't be surprised if Jennings absolutely submerges his draft stock during the season (that is, until he returns next spring and excels in the 1-on-1 workouts given by teams).  <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/insider/columns/story?columnist=gottlieb_doug&#38;id=3470995&#38;campaign=rss&#38;source=NCBHeadlines" target="_blank">Gottlieb</a> nailed it when he pointed out that EuroLeague ball is of a much-higher quality than what Jennings probably thinks it is (and certainly well above college hoops).  Lots of risk of exposure here for Jennings.  Bad decision. </div>

This part of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html" title="City of Tigard - History"><font color="#ff3333">Tigard, Oregon</font></a> is in Tigard School district even though Bull Mountain itself hasn’t been incorporated in to <a href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html"><font color="#ff3333">Tigard</font></a>. Even though this is a more expensive area, there are presently no parks located in the Bull Mountain South area.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Bull Mountain North neighborhood of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html" title="City of Tigard - History"><font color="#ff3333">Tigard, Oregon</font></a> goes west, starting at Barrows/Gaarde to Bull Mountain Rd, Then from Pacific Hwy to Beef Bend Rd. This part of <a target="_blank" href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html" title="City of Tigard - History"><font color="#ff3333">Tigard, Oregon</font></a> is in Tigard School district even though Bull Mountain itself hasn’t been incorporated in to <a href="http://www.ifoundyournewhome.com/More_About_Tigard/page_1838442.html"><font color="#ff3333">Tigard</font></a>. Even though this is a more xpensive area, there are presently no parks located in the Bull Mountain North area.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>customer service, the operative word being customer, when did the customer stop being right and start being nickeled and dimed and treated badly by the hospitality industry and others?</p>
<p>Stephanie was telling me how she was woken up by a customer at 5 am who wanted to stay at the motel. The customer rightly wanted a discount at that early hour. Stephanie offered them a late checkout until 2 pm with a fee. Not exactly what the customer wanted. The customer was from Nevada and decided to stay somewhere else.  Good for the customer.</p>
<p>Now admittedly, Nevadans are spoiled by hotel casinos going the extra mile, giving comps and discounts and great prices (usually)... AND this is the first time I have ever heard of a late checkout fee.  I usually opt to stay until noon or 1 pm and have NEVER been charged a fee for checking out late.</p>
<p>Excuse me, hotel and motel owners, who is paying your employee's salaries and who is paying your profits???  Your customers. And if you don't treat your customers right, you won't have any customers sooner or later.</p>
<p>Yesterday, I talked with Wyndham Rewards... I've spent $1,000+ on motels in the last month or so and they are supposed to credit me with points so that I get free rooms... yeah, right... ok, at least the program does not cost anything but when I asked if my stays were recorded they told me that the stay I had a few nights ago is not in their system yet, it takes 10 days. Ok.  Then I stayed at one motel in Medford, Oregon for ten nights and the guy tells me that doesn't count because I used a coupon... so what I still spent $500 there that should count for something. It is really starting to annoy me that you spend so much money on these places and they don't feel any obligation to give you anything, not even a decent room.</p>
<p>Maybe I am spoiled. The hotel casinos in Nevada do give great deals and they do that because people spend so much money gambling... so why then when I called one hotel casino in Oregon, they wanted $89 a night...do customers have to go to Nevada for fabulous rooms and great service, and forget the rest of the country???</p>
<p>Wise up, people. In this economy and even when times are good, people want the MOST bang for their buck. And your bad attitudes and cheapskate ways are gonna lose you customers. It's just business. Plain and simple reality. And dog owners are going to revolt, too. Who wants to be charged $5, 10, 25 or $50 extra a night to bring along Fido or Fluffy?</p>
<p>and who wants to spend $28-50+ on a dog's own hotel suite if the service is not superb ?</p>
<p>customers have the power of choice... if you could choose between a motel that does not give you the amenities that it tells you it has, is rude, and the place smells, and a motel that is clean, fresh and homey, both for the same price, $50-55 a night with dog?  (crown pacific vs. captain cook inn, both in Lincoln City, Oregon), where would you stay?  no brainer, right... I chose Captain Cook Inn... and I figure if one motel can offer a great room and service for $54 a night, then so can the others.</p>

<description><![CDATA[Bike Friday has been alive with activity lately, so much so that this blog is a nagging memory every]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Bike Friday has been alive with activity lately, so much so that this blog is a nagging memory every now and then while I ride to get to work, so I can in turn work like crazy and then finally get to ride home into the sun to my beautiful family.</p>
<p>Needless to say, things have been good.  We had a nice vacation on the beach in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newport,_Oregon">Newport</a>.  We flew kites in a <a href="http://www.oregonstateparks.org/park_212.php">state wayside</a> right down from <a href="http://www.agatebeachinn.com/">our hotel</a> that thanks to knowing the right people was less than it costs to stay in the <a href="http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=36">Motel 6</a> on the freeway here in Eugene.  We didn't do much of anything.  That was a nice change of pace.</p>
<p>After which, Bike Friday went to the <a href="http://www.oregoncountryfair.org/">Oregon Country Fair</a> in <a href="http://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms/sites/dt.cms.support.viewStory.cls?cid=123822&#38;sid=2&#38;fid=1">custom-built (folding, too!) tie dyed polo shirts</a> and showed off the bikes.  We showed <a href="http://tedwhitegreenlight.com/">Ted White</a>'s classic "<a href="http://tedwhitegreenlight.com/scorcher.htm">Return Of The Scorcher</a>," a movie that's not only well known for showcasing bike culture around the world (read: see it if you haven't!) but also for inspiriting the first Critical Mass (and also much less so for including a little interview with Kash, who runs our SF tikit agent <a href="http://bikefriday.com/node/6588">Warm Planet</a>, as he washes some underwear on tour). We made a whole skit out of it, explaining that our power source wasn't working and that we'd need to bring in the back-up ROB unit.  As it turns out, the "ROB unit" was <a href="http://bikefriday.com/staff/robenglish">Rob English</a>, <a href="http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/racing2006/dempsey2006.htm#Results">fastest British man</a> and <a href="http://www.recumbents.com/wisil/fastest_list.asp">7th fastest in the world</a> according to the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hour_record">hour record</a>, atop Hanz's desk which is entirely pedal powered.  He was all decked out in a huge <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Union_Flag">Union Jack</a> in the form of full-on time trial gear.  Anyways, it was a blast, but we didn't get to camp because the Fair's weird like that.  I guess.</p>
<p>The girls left me last weekend and I went to <a href="http://bikefriday.com/staff/pauladkins">Paul</a>'s well-named "No Car Party" as well as the even better-named "<a href="http://www.kidicalmass.org/">Kidical Mass</a>."  The latter really sticks into my memory because it was a heck of a lot of fun on bikes.  I've appeared at a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Critical_Mass">Critical Mass</a> or two and kind of like it.  The <a href="http://www.eugeneweekly.com/2006/08/10/coverstory.html">police reaction</a> to it I don't like.  But Kidical Mass was none of that.  Just a family-friendly group touring about the neighborhood with the kids, enjoying the ride and following the traffic laws along the way.  It was not like we were blocking traffic (yes, yes, I know, "we are traffic"), but it was like the other traffic didn't exist.  We went down to the Whiteaker Neighborhood River Festival I didn't even know existed and then rode all over.  Then they were playing "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labyrinth_(film)">Labryinth</a>" at the park and the plan was to go to <a href="http://www.laughingplanetcafe.com/">Laughing Planet</a> beforehand but I thought the dog might miss me.</p>
<p>In the Bike Friday front, we've never had a July like this.  Usually things start slowing down now.  They're ramping up.  In other news the tikit line hit a real milestone in production today, being a sure sign of the ease at which we'll be able to keep up with the <a href="http://tinyurl.com/usneedsbikes">increased desire for transportation solutions</a>.  <a href="http://viktikit.blogspot.com/search?q=season+tikit">Season tikit</a>?  Yeah, it's pretty much ready.  We've got a blinged-out fiber <a href="http://bikefriday.com/node/6109?styleId=0">Express tikit</a> in the showroom we've been calling the Carbon tikit.  Kind of like a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_credit">carbon credit</a>, but much more useful for getting the groceries.</p>
<p>I've just been riding (actually so has Sierra, both on the <a href="http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=6000112&#38;subcategory=60001079&#38;brand=&#38;sku=22738&#38;storetype=&#38;estoreid=&#38;pagename=Shop%20by%20Subcat%3A%20Racks">Tug-a-bug</a> and on her own <a href="http://www.bikefriday.com/specialneeds">Bantam</a> NWT) and hope that I'll take the <a href="http://www.monkeyview.net/id/990/bikes/friday/be/index.vhtml">Pocket Llama</a> to <a href="http://cycleoregon.com/default_weekend.htm">Cycle Oregon Weekend</a> and the <a href="http://bikefridaywalter.wordpress.com/2008/06/18/bfffffg-10/">tikit</a> to the <a href="http://www.providence.org/bridgepedal/">Bridge Pedal</a>.  The 54x15 will be perfect.  Hope to see you there!</p>
<p>In honor of the <a href="http://www.arttrekinc.com/lastfridayartwalk/">Last Friday Artwalk</a> (the much better of the two in Eugene) as well as Critical Mass, I propose we change the name of <a href="http://bikefridaywalter.wordpress.com/category/cycling/bike-friday/bf-owners/bfffffg/">our most ridiculously-category</a> to "Bike Friday Fabulous First/Final Friday Fixed Gears."  There will be one every month or else!</p>
<p>Lastly, go see/hear <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pan+Sonic?anv=Panasonic">Panasonic</a>'s <a href="http://www.blastfirstpetite.com/">new release</a> if you haven't.  Yes, I know they're now called <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pan+Sonic">Pan Sonic</a> because of that <a href="http://www.panasonic.com/">silly electronics company</a>, but I still remember them at Panasonic when <a href="http://www.monkeyview.net/id/990/music/merzbowmasonnapie/index.vhtml">I saw them play with Merzbow and Masonna</a>.  Indeed, that was probably the most memorable show of my life.  Their cold, mechanical, form of minimal techno is unlike anything else, all pink-noise and square-wave. The latest is another live set, just brimming with raw, powerful energy, like a technology-current <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Esplendor+Geométrico">Esplendor Geo</a><a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Esplendor+Geométrico">métrico</a>.  I just wish it were a LOT louder.  Just put it on headphones in the dark on turn to tracks 8 until the end to feel the full frontal force.</p>
<p>On the same trip, 1/2 of the aforementioned, aka <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Mika+Vainio">Mika Vainio</a>, who usually seems to have more in common with minimal glitch composers like <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ryoji+Ikeda">Ryoji Ikeda</a> or <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Alva+Noto">Alva Noto</a> than anything else, also put out a great album called <a href="http://www.discogs.com/release/1382377">Oleva</a> under his <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Ø">∅</a> alias that even has a cover of <a href="http://www.discogs.com/artist/Pink+Floyd">Pink Floyd</a>'s "<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Set_the_Controls_for_the_Heart_of_the_Sun">Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun</a>" to rival <a href="http://www.discogs.com/release/61976">Psychic TV</a>'s.  It's dark, throbbing, almost ambient at times and highly recommended.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Buying Condos:  FHA Approved in Portland, Oregon Part 2]]></title>

<p><a href="http://bettyjung.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/keys.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-251" style="float:right;" src="http://bettyjung.wordpress.com/files/2008/05/keys.jpg?w=208" alt="" width="208" height="173" /></a>FHA financing is becoming popular once again with buyers, particularly first-time buyers, due to the new increased loan limit of $417,000 here in Portland, Oregon.</p>
<p>You can borrow up to 97% financing for a purchase and up to 95% for a refinance.  The down payment can be 100% gift and Down Payment Assistance Programs are allowed. A seller can pay up to 6% towards allowable closings costs and/or pre-paids.  There are no reserve requirements and no minimum credit scores.  Make sure you speak to a lender and get pre-approved before you decide to make an offer.  FHA loan amounts vary from state to state, so make sure you check on your particular area and become familiar with the requirements where you live.</p>
