Samsung offers you many versions of HDTV screens. Samsung's HL-T5087S DLP HDTV is one of the best products from Samsung. This product is well-built and slim. Its rear projection DLP user manual is good and extensive, and the remote is intuitive. The energy-efficient 50" screen features a powerful, long-lasting LED light engine that turns on almost instantly. Full HD 1080p resolution and Samsung Cinema Smooth technology deliver a wide range of brilliant colors, with bright images and a crisp definition. The blackest of blacks, brightest of whites and nuanced tones are yours with a 10000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The sound is great, but if you have the resources to add a 600W 5.1 surround system, you will hear the difference.

The Panasonic TH-50PZ77U is the 50" class 1080p plasma HDTV with anti-glare filter, EZ sync HDAVI control and built-in GalleryPlayer-capable SD card memory slot. Panasonic believes to provide the latest in HDTV technology in its models. This television has the most beautiful picture display with deep, rich colors, very good viewing angles, and detailing in the blacks that an LCD can't touch. The TV is a bit heavy and this prevents it from accidentally falling. Overall, this is a remarkable TV.

The S Series is the latest offering from the Sony Bravia line of high-performance and sleek styling LCD TVs. Sony BRAVIA KDL-32S2000 32" LCD panel features the latest in Sony's unique S-PVA technology, which delivers vivid and accurate colors along with wide viewing angles and a blazing 8ms response time. Other features such as PC input allow the user to connect a PC for viewing content in a 16:9 high resolution environment. And with integrated HDTV capabilities, you can enjoy digital programming with enhanced audio and video reproduction. While the KDL-32S2000 is value priced, it also offers an elegant flat panel design that can be placed anywhere at home.

Toshiba is another favorite in the market with a screen size ranging till 47 inches and embedded with Cinespeed LCD panel and Pixel pure technology for good picture and sound. It builds upon its heritage by delivering the industry's most innovative, high-quality solutions. The Toshiba 57HM167 has great picture, amazing sound quality and an attractive design. It looks great in 720p and just think, if EA sports would have made the game in 1080p for ps3. If you want a "Full HD" at a very reasonable price, then this is it. Very easy to use TV with great options.

The CF-25 model is the older Pentium 133 mhz and 166 mhz model.  I havent seen this model is several years for sale.  However I do have some of these on my scrap pile that actually work and have all the parts.  They typically had a touch screen and were made from the same material as the current CF-27 and CF-28 is made from.  However the CDROM drives and Floppy drives are not transferrable to the CF-27 series.  In fact even the batteries are different.  So I wont go into this model too much based on its age.

However the CF-27 typically started with the Pentium 266mhz processor and went to the Pentium III 500 mhz model.  This unit cured some problems that you had with the CF-25.  Like the fact that the keyboard was hard to replace on the CF-25.  I will say that the problems with the CF-27 were the power switch could be pushed in and broken which means a system board replacement.  Also the Power connector would break away from the board as well if there was daily stress on the connection. 

The CF-28 model Panasonic toughbook solved the power switch problem and tried to solve the power connection by beefing up the connection point.  It still could break just not as easily.  The CDROM from the CF-27 goes to the CF-28 as well as the AC adapter.  This makes an easier upgrade path.  The CF-28 has a different look with the silver top and black base.  The CF-27 was all black.

With the upgrade to the CF-29 Panasonic toughbook can a new power AC adapter which used the IBM thinkpad yellow tip barrel.  This solved the power connection issue.  The CDROM from the CF-27 and CF-28 works in the CF-29.  With the Centrino processor you have a nice unit.  In addition something that I didnt mention before is that the touch screen could get marked up on all these models.

In order to change the touch cover on the CF-27 and CF-28 you had to remove the entire front cover plate of the screen.  There is a flat cable that is very hard to connect to the screen when replacing the cover with a new one.  With the cF-29 they have a tacky plastic cover that is easily removed from the screen and replaced just like the tint stuff for windows.

All in all for the money and if you do not need the horse power the CF-27 and CF-28 units are great for DOS and older type software apps.  I have seen Truck repair shops buy them for some of the older software diagnostics and simply being able to withstand the shop environment. 

But if you can afford it get the CF-29 it is a nice quick fast machine.

Neben einem Nachfolger der auf dieser Website von Sir Mikel getesteten Superzoom-Kamera FZ18 und einem Megapixel-Kompaktmonster mit über 14 Megapixel in einem ultrakompakten Gehäuse hat Panasonic gestern mit der LX3 auch den lange erwarteten Nachfolger der ambitionierten LX2 vorgestellt. Damit stellt Panasonic einen aktualisierten Gegner auf gegen Canons "Panzer" G9 und zielt wie Canon damit auf DSLR-Fotografen, die eine leichte Zweitkamera mit kreativen Einflussmöglichkeiten und hoher Bildqualität suchen.

Von den Zahlen her betrachtet ist man angenehm überrascht, dass Panasonic nach dem Pixelwahn der letzten Jahre endlich zur Vernunft gefunden zu haben scheint: Der Sensor löst "nur" 10 Megapixel auf und ist auf dem Papier auch noch ein Stückchen größer als sein Vorgänger (aber immer noch winzig gegen einen Vollformat-Chip...). Das Objektiv setzt auf Qualität und Vernunft statt auf Zoompower: 24-60 mm KB-Brennweite, dafür aber mit einer größten Blende von f2 und dem Prädikat LEICA DC VARIO-SUMMICRON. Am Objektiv findet sich wieder der Umschalter, um aus verschiedenen Bildformaten (4:3, 16:9, ...) schon bei der Aufnahme auszuwählen.

Daneben die üblichen Gimmicks, Auto-Modi bis die Venus-Engine-IV qualmt, von der wir doch eher erhoffen, dass sie das Rauschen des immer noch kleinen Sensors bei höheren Empfindlichkeiten weniger unsensibel wegbügelt als ihre Vorgängerinnen. Aber wenn M und A trotzdem auf dem Moduswahlrad zu finden sind: Man muss die Auto-Modi ja nicht benutzen.

Konzeptionell verdient die LX3 einige Sympathie-Punkte: Sie setzt auf Qualität statt Wuchern mitt Kenngrößen. Das Retro-Denken zeigen auch die Filmmodi, die verschiedene Filmtypen emulieren sollen. Und die Panasonic-Ingenieure sprechen von "Stolz" auf ihr neuestes Produkt. Das ist doch auch mal etwas in einem Markt voller gesichtsloser 35-105mm-Plastikkästchen.

Klingt also alles recht vielversprechend, auch erste Hands-On-Berichte wie bei Photoscala. Doch was passiert da? Man werfe einen Blick in die einschlägigen Foren und da sind sie schon wieder, die Experten, die anhand nicht vorhandener Beispielbilder eine Kamera zu Tode analysieren und schlagen, bevor überhaupt die finale Firmware zur Verfügung steht. Und natürlich kann man mit dieser Kamera definitiv keine guten Bilder machen.

Und wieder einmal fragt man sich, ob nicht immer noch primär der Mann oder die Frau hinter dem technischen Kasten bestimmen, ob letztlich ein gutes Foto hinten rausfällt oder nicht. Deshalb ziehe ich mich an dieser Stelle auch bequem auf den unangreifbaren Standpunkt zurück: "Schick sieht sie aus, die neue Lumix LX3!". Denn über Geschmack lässt sich bekanntlich nicht streiten. Und den Rest sehen wir ab August, denn dann soll das kleine Schmuckstück auf den Markt kommen.

Even digital camera's go retro nowadays! Starting with Samsung and the coming up of Leica, it's now Panasonic's turn with their 'new' DMC-LX3K. We like how it looks, but if you want to now if it's any good you're reading the wrong post!

I will not border you with a full list of specifications. You can check dpreview.com for that. I think it is more interesting to say they changed the camera into a full system that can be fully expanded. Panasonic will offer a wide conversion lens and adaptor, a neutral density and polariser filter, a compact flash, an external optical view finder (24mm), leather casing, and a camera bag. On Lets Go Digital there is an extensive report on the LX3.

The game is on! Panasonic launches a serious competition for the Ricoh cameras priced at $499.95. No news yet on a Leica Digilux D-Lux 4. And lets wait how Nikon (P6000?) and Canon (G10?) will respond.

On Photoscala a first impression of the camera is posted. It is in German, but they are impressed by the camera (especially at the wide angle). There examples also look so much better (example 1 and example 2). And another first "thoughts" of the LX3 is published on DigitalCameraReview.com with some impressive full size examples as well.

I purchased a set of Panasonic RP-HC500 noise canceling headphones.  My intention was to use them with my Uniden BC95XLT scanner.  At Iowa Speedway, I was having a hard time hearing all of the radio traffic over the engine and exhaust noise from the cars.  I knew the NASCAR races at Chicagoland Speedway would be much louder because the cars are louder and there are more than twice as many as there are at IndyCar races.  My scanner would be totally inaudible.

That's where the Panasonic headphones would step in.  I purchased my headphones from Amazon.com for $95.44.  I never thought I would purchase such expensive headphones.  I am hardly an audiophile.  I want something that sounds good, but isn't expensive either.  The Panasonics won out over several other sets of headphones.

The headphones came in a rather large box, mostly because of the nice hard case Panasonic provides for transporting the headphones.  You can carry the headphones, audio cable, and airline and large-diameter jack adapters in the case.

Now for the first audio test.  I run an air purifier in my room - an old school one with the fan inside and a filter.  It makes some noise and actually helps me sleep.  This white noise seemed like just the kind of thing that would be canceled out by the headphones.  I put the headphones on and flipped the power switch.  No more air purifier noise.  I couldn't hear the air conditioner anymore either.  I then did some surfing with the Eee while listening to music on my Sansa e260.  Usually I would have the volume set around 50% on the Sansa.  With the Panasonic noise canceling headphones, I only needed to have the volume around 25-33%.  I could also hear things I had never heard before in some songs.  You really get immersed in the music.  The treble and bass from the headphones was to my liking - in other words, there wasn't a lot of bass causing the sound to be distorted and "fuzzy."  One downside to the headphones - there was some noticeable sound leakage from the microphone holes on the earpiece exteriors.  It was loud enough that a person seated next to me would have been able to hear my music.

Second audio test - NASCAR weekend at Chicagoland Speedway.  I caught the end of Sprint Cup final practice before the opening ceremonies for the Dollar General 300 Busch Nationwide race.  Stock cars are freaking loud!  Much louder than IndyCars.  You can watch IndyCars without ear protection (though I wouldn't recommend it).  You will have hearing loss if you watch a NASCAR race without protection.  The sound was piercing and the inside of my ears felt like they were vibrating.  I then put on my headphones for protection.  The sound became much more tolerable.  Then I turned on the noise canceling function.  Even better.  The harsh exhaust note was gone and I could just hear the mechanical growl of the engines.  The sound was a lot like what you hear on TV during a NASCAR race.  In person, the cars sound nothing like they do on TV.  The sound in person is much harsher.  I tried out my scanner before the Nationwide race and the experience was just like the one I had with my MP3 player.  I only had to put the volume up half as loud as before to be able to hear the radio communications.

About comfort; the foam padding on the cups is comfortable.  You can adjust the length of the arch (I don't know what it's called) that goes over your head so you can wear the ear cup things high or low, based on what's comfy for you.  Unlike a co-worker's pair of Sonys I had tried at work, my ears did not get hot and there was no "sound pressure" sensation.  The headphone cable was pretty long, so I did have to coil it up a bit so I wouldn't have much dangling cable.

In summary, these Panasonic headphones are an excellent value.  They are good for using at races and good for listening to stuff at home.  The carrying case adds a touch of class and is good for transporting the headphones so they don't get broken.

Note:  As of this writing, I am awaiting Amazon to come through with their 30-Day Price Guarantee.  The price of the headphones dropped to $89.33.  Part of Amazon's policy says "If Amazon.com's price for an already-released item decreases within 30 days after we ship the item to you, we'll be glad to refund the difference in price if you contact us within that 30-day period."  I've invoked this privilege several times and it has always worked.  It's part of the reason I shop at Amazon.

La XV edición de los Encuentros Abiertos - Festival de la Luz 2008 tendrá lugar del 1 de Agosto al 30 de septiembre de 2008 en Museos, Centros Culturales, Galerías y Espacios de Arte de toda Argentina. Todas las actividades fotográficas son gratuitas, a excepción del Foro de Portfolios y los talleres; y estarán divididas en cinco grupos: Exposiciones, Conferencias, Intervenciones Urbanas, Foro de Portfolios y Talleres.
