Another New Design

So, because I can never be happy with anything I've made for more than a few months, yet another new design for my mainsite has been rolled out and implemented. Hopefully this one looks nicer to you guys, I certainly enjoy the design plenty. Info about the design after the jump!

The idea behind this design was to create something that felt very retro, very much so like the design style of arcade cabinets from the 70s and 80s. I guess you guys can be a judge of how well that turned out, but I think I like it.

When I started designing it, I grabbed a few pictures of arcade cabinets from the internet, studied the colors on them, and eventually ended up picking the colors I did. For anyone that's interested, the main colors are #111111 (the background), #666666 (text), #b9ee22 (neon green), #ee8811 (orange), and #88b9ee (blue). You can find these colors throughout the page, and the design is _almost_ exclusively made using those colors. There are a few extra colors thrown in (such as the background of the content container, which is #222222) to make things stand out or transition better (look closely at the bars, you'll see this).

The design isn't perfect, and I'll probably be making some touchups eventually, but I'm happy with it... for now.

So for the past two weeks I have been working on my new website and getting it up and running and it has been a pain in the rear end. I have started to put content into it now, now that I have finally got the navigation bar to format and work properly. As I have been adding content I been trying to add media and it is not working/ playing like it should be which has worked me to no end. I will keep you updated on the status of my site, but as of right now I am going to BLOW IT UP!!!

I finally have a personal space somewhere on the web and I am happy! Anyway, I'm loaded with work. I'm preparing for a much needed R&R.. so that means.. I have to write articles to publish on wpthemedesigner.com. So that even if I am away.. my site remains to be updated :)

My Personal Web Site. Currently on Version 4.5. I need variation in my life so this one gets updating at least twice a year. This site was my first, and is to this day how I learn most of my coding. Most of my new skills get implemented here first. This is done to ensure that they are correct so that I do not mess up anyone else's sites.

Para calon kandidat Gubernur Riau 2008, nampaknya belum seluruhnya memanfaatkan secara maksimal teknologi infomasi untuk memperkenalkan diri mereka. Diantara mereka yang saya ketahui memiliki website pribadi atau personal site atau blog adalah HM. RUSLI ZAINAL dengan websitenya www.bangrusli.net, yang lainnya adalah ARWIN A.S. dengan websitenya www.arwin-as.com. Untuk calon lainnya hingga saat ini saya belum menemukannya. Padahal seorang calon sebaiknya mengekspos dirinya kepada masyarakat calon pemilih, agar masyarakat lebih mengetahui latar belakang mereka sebagai calon yang akan ikut dalam Pilgubri 2008.
Membuat sebuah blog atau personal site pun tidak rumit, karena ada penyedia blog gratis seperti wordpress dan blogger. Bahkan saya mengamati pada saat pemilihan Gubernur Kalimantan Barat yang lalu, Drs. Cornelis MH sebagai pemenang PILGUB KALBAR memanfaatkan blog gratis blogger.com untuk mengekpos dirinya dan aktifitas kampanye yang dilakukannya bersama tim sukses, alamat blognya adalah http://corneliscenter.blogspot.com. Juga pada saat pemilihan Gubernur Sulawesi Selatan, para calon Gubernur punya webblog masing-masing, misalnya SYAHRUL YASIN LIMPO di http://www.syahrulyasinlimpo.info. Saya merasa yakin, semakin sering seorang calon Gubernur memperkenalkan dirinya baik di media cetak (offline), maupun blog (online) maka semakin besar peluang rakyat akan memilih dirinya, dengan catatan tentunya para calon tidak memanipulasi data mereka di blog.

Sebagaimana kata pepatah "Tak kenal maka tak sayang".

This is something I have to pay for yearly... So far I've paid around $400 dollars working on this and an estimated 3,500 hours. Most of the time goes into thinking about it and writing off-line, but my goal is to have all if not most of that online.

There's not many things I can call my own on the web, things that I actually own, but this is one of those extremely few things. I do have advertisements on this website, but make less than 10 cents per day while working 12-14 hours nearly every day. Sitting at a computer that long every day has made me want a more comfortable work station and room for a hamster wheel (or treadmill) so I stay healthy.

I post my poetry on this website, some videos, thoughts, some local news (maryland), and some technology stuff like web design.

My wordpress is up and running, as you can see. Also in the works is my own website that will be up soon. This will include a page for my Podcast I've been working on with BK, a page for the frisbee team that's sort of in construction, a crew page for high school, maybe some other stuff if I feel it's needed.
