Monday, and time to go home.
We went to the Milwaukee airport, where we were early enough that Marita Beth & I grabbed a small, quick breakfast. Then I was off to security which, in this lovely airport, is a complete breeze. From there, the day went to hell. The days trials and tribulations would take too long to regurgitate here. So, instead, I present my twitter feed from the day. But first, here is my photo. When I go to a festival of any sort, be it Irish, Scottish, Renaissance, Wine, Beer, Comic, whatever, I gravitate toward music. Something in me is drawn to the primal need to tone bathe whenever possible. So, after hours of work in the early part of the day (the price of being able to take this vacation), I finally strolled out into the lanes and immersed myself in the sounds of Renaissance Faire joy.

I actually did take photos on the 14th, but they are all in a separate camera. I'll get those uploaded and inserted into the diary in the next day or so. In the meantime, so as to not fall even further behind, I present the 15th.
This is my annual trip to Milwaukee for the phenomenal Milwaukee Irish Fest. I look foward to this event every year, and this year it nearly didn't happen. So, I'll take a moment and thank my boss publicly for allowing it to happen despite all the surrounding issues. The Milwaukee Irish Fest is the largest festival of its kind in the United States and simply puts to shame every other festival I've ever been to. Even after Marita Beth is no longer doing Bristol (whenever that may be) I hope that we continue to make the northbound journey to this amazing festival.

A Shadow's Friends

I took a lot of photos today and this one may not be the most indicative of the day, but it is my favourite. In the photo, I am in the middle sandwiched between two dear friends, Gregg & Sean. I've known Gregg for 15+ years and count him among my dearest and most precious of companions. Sean, I've known for a considerably lesser amount of time, but I still call him dear. Here they stand next to me at one of my favourite events in the world. He has friends and the ability to enjoy their company is rich indeed.

For me, my vote goes to the "Halloween Pennant" dragonfly.
So many times I have been out in search of something that grabs me, and if there are dragonflies in the area, and the Halloween Pennant is in the mix, the HP will always steal the show!
I would think that existing conditions would play a big roll in why a certain dragonfly might be more approachable, such as the heat, humidity, light, food supply, water, vegetation, and more.
I was sitting in an area along side a pond here in South Carolina, and I counted 8 different types/kinds of dragonflies.
The dashers were skittish, the darners kept their distance, the skimmers acted if there was no tomorrow, ... but the pennants would come right up to me, ..... and sit!
With this image below, I had so much time to create and to play.
I counted 11 Halloween Pennant dragonflies no more than 10ft from me, allowing me a whole lot of freedom.
I got up close images, and some of the more landscape type macro images that I enjoy capturing.
With the dragonfly shown here, I was allowed to shoot using two different lenses, allowed to add a flash to the camera then some without a flash, allowed to add a polarizer, allowed to remove the polarizer and add a Canon 500D diopter, allowed to use natural light then to add some light from a reflector for a comparison, ... all with this Halloween Pennant never flying off from its perch, ... not even once!

I wonder if something he ate put him in to some type of coma?

Today's story is that I had been meaning to shave for a day or two so after church I was itching to cut my face hairs off (I did not before hand because I didn't have enough time you see) so I did. I listened to music while doing it too, which was a first, but finally I had done it! I made us a few minutes late for lunch but it's okay. No one was mad.
