I could swear this place wasn't marked as private property last time I was there, but I can see it's been refurbished significantly, and now there are signs. I don't think the poles that are blocking off most of the lot were there before either, but it's been a while.  Anyway, I only barely stuck my toes over the line to get these shots, and I guess I won't stop back anymore.

Foi com um sol de 30ºC que a equipe do MOVE-POA saiu hoje para informar a população de Porto Alegre sobre o Pontal do Estaleiro, projeto que qualificará a orla na antiga área do Estaleiro Só. Há 21 anos abandonada, a área ganhará prédios residenciais, prédio comercial, flat e uma grande área verde pública para que todos possam usufruir. Esta área ainda terá restaurantes, bares, ciclovia, pier, marina pública e proporcionará uma vista sensacional da cidade, com segurança, beleza e conforto, o que a cidade não possui hoje.
A nossa equipe distribuiu, das 10:00 às 16:30 folhetos explicativos contendo a real descrição do projeto, e não inverdades como diversas entidades estão divulgando. Também estávamos com um a mesa com um abaixo-assinado em defesa do Projeto, que foi assinado por muitas dezenas de pessoas !

Bueno, como ya saben PIER se estara presentando en CORDOBA en la Sala del Rey el sabado 18//10 festejando a pleno el aniversario de los 10 años de la existencia de la Codiciada.
La intencion de este post es hacerle llegar a uds la noticia de que desde capital va a salir una combi para 15 personas y nos quedan 3 lugares libres.. si alguno no tiene como ir o con quien y se quiere prender en la movida no tienen mas que hacerlo saber a traves de un comentario con un mail para poder comunicarnos.

Cualquier duda pregunten, arriba se pueden ver la combi en la que se viaja.

Some of my pictures are very tourist-y, like they could be used as a postcard.  I couldn't resist- the beach is such a beautiful place that I wanted to get some of the common shots.  For example, there is this shot of the entire length of the pier.  I think somebody was standing next to me, photographing the very same thing when I shot this.  I probably won't use these for my book, but they'll be nice to have, and maybe I can use them for another project later on.

One of my favorite pictures from this session was a sort of self-portrait.  I was on the pier, taking pictures of the water, when suddenly I looked down and saw my shadow on the wooden planks.  I thought this was a really cool effect, and I don't think I've ever taken picture of a shadow before.  It's like a representation of myself projected onto my subject- I love it!

It would seem that Fleetwood may be pierless for ever more if I am to understand correctly a recent communication from Wyre Borough's Director of Planning this week.

The owners of the former pier have had talks with Borough planners to re-develop the land where the stricken pier once stood. The talks were based upon a land only development which was not to protrude seaward over the beach. Formal planning applications have not been submitted at this stage and the owners are keen to seek advice from elected members in due course.

We are all looking forward to see the proposals however I fear that if housing is on the agenda there will be a public outcry as most will see it as salt in the wounds after loosing the landmark to fire.

I will of course keep you informed of the latest developments.

Please feel free to leave comments or suggestions as to what could be done to;

• Bring to Fleetwood a worthy replacement for its pier
• Give both residents and developers pride in achieving a compromise
• Provide ongoing viable construction in this area
• Create a new millennium attraction
• Give residents and visitors an attraction to herald the beginning of new times for Fleetwood

Mispillion Harbor Reserve, Milford, Delaware

Just before sunrise, watched the seagulls play king of the post for a while. Rowdy little varmints. The last photo is the classic dislodge maneuver - swoop up and intimidate the current occupant into moving out of the way and take his spot. Then the now post-less seagull goes off to the next post and repeats the maneuver on another. It doesn't always work, though; sometimes the current occupant doesn't give and just stands there screaming and looking dangerous.

Intlxpatr's sunrise posts are inspiring, and last week she posted about a Sunset Challenge.  This gave me the kick I needed and yesterday was the perfect opportunity.  The weather was a little dusty, but the result was as good as I could get it to be.  Yesterday, this was probably one of the most relaxing places to be in Kuwait.

(...)Antes de que se haga de noche, apareció Pier. En su set recorrió tracks de toda su discografía ("El paraguas malvado de Porota", "El narigón del barranco" y "Llegando a la felicidad", entre otros) y aunque todavía su sonido no logra destacarse, sus letras referidas a las chicas, el alcohol y la noche causaron un buen efecto en el público, que les festejó todas y cada una de sus intervenciones.

Lamma Island have 2 Piers (depart from Central Pier): Sok Kwu Wan and Yung Shue Wan. Thinking where should we go? As stated in the article that around Sok Kwu Wan had a Pier back to Hong Kong Island, Aberdeen. By the time we got to Lamma Island half day was gone, the next boat to Lamma Island was 3:20 pm. Therefore, we decided to go to Sok Kwu Wan and took us 40 minutes boat ride. Along the way, it was wonderful seeing bright blue sky with blue ocean and feeling the breeze...
The boat slowing down and suddenly I saw the seafood restaurant that I came early this year. "Oh, I think I came here before, I recognized the signboard-Rainbow Seafood Restaurant"
We walked towards the direction of Mo Tat Wan or Kaito Ferry (a way back to Hong Kong Island and this ferry stopped at Aberdeen Fish Market). Scrolling the way it was peaceful seeing the greens, and a little walk after a full brunch.

By the time we walked to Mo Tat Wan was 5:30pm and we took the next ferry to Aberdeen Fish Market. Exploring another town was fun and adventurous. We saw the Jumbo Restaurant (where the restaurant is on the boat, scrolling around while eating) It must be interesting eating on the boat... but was expensive. Right across the Aberdeen Fish Market was a bus terminal. Searching around the area, we found a local restaurant under the umbrella of Fu Lam Group. It was difficult nowadays to find olden days interior and service in Hong Kong.

After dinner, a time for dessert. June and I loves durian and we knew exactly a place for durian flavor. The dessert place was at Lucky Dessert, Sam Tseng (nearest mtr station is Tsuen Wan, and either take a minibus or cab) and at Aberdeen the nearest mtr station was at Sheung Wan or all the way out to Wan Chai to change the route to Tsuen Wan line (West Kowloon). We took Citybus 107 to Kowloon and without knowing we missed the stop and the bus took us all the way to East Kowloon. Even though it was already late, the bus cruise was fun seeing HK night life, the lighting was great!

Reached Lucky Dessert (發記甜品) around 9:10 pm and we ordered delicious Bake Crispy Durian Pancake, Glutinous Rice Roll of Durian and Durian Grapefruit and Sago Sweet Soup. On our way back, we took home Durian Sweet Soup and some roast goose where Sam Tseng was all about.

Ya había caído el sol y la tarde se hacía más fría cuando en el escenario enfrentado al principal se presentaban, inmediatamente después del show de los Ratones Paranoicos, la banda de los hermanos Cerezo, Pier ante un Club Ciudad que de a poco se iba completando.

Con típico look rockero (jeens, campera de cuero y lentes de sol) Ramiro Cerezo se presentó en el escenario, saludó y arrancó con El Mar de Sangre un show que, a excepción de un puñado de fans que se agolparon frente al vallado, no logró que el público se enganche con la sintonía de la banda, a pesar del esfuerzo del cantante que recurrió, en vano, a los clichés de siempre para atraer su atención.

En los casi cincuenta minutos que duró el show, tocaron apenas dos temas de Rock en Monsterland, que aparecieron sobre el final: Llegando a la Felicidad y Jaque Mate, que cerró el show. Antes habían pasado De Andar Elegante, Fervor de los Sueños, El Narigón del Barranco y La Ilusión que me Condena.

Sin pena ni gloria, Pier pasó por el escenario Claro en la sexta jornada del festival, mientras la gente, del otro lado, espera expectante por la presentación de Las Pelotas, ya sin El Bocha Sokol.

Pasadas las 19hs, la banda se presentó en el Club Ciudad de Buenos Aires, para deleitarnos con nueve temas al hilo. Además, Pier se presentó con un tecladista, que seguramente los acompañará de ahora en más.

Como les veníamos adelantando, la banda se presentará el 1º de Noviembre en The Roxy (Ex Teatro de Colegiales), y el 22 de Noviembre en El Teatro (Flores).
