I suspect many former IBOs have had such a bad experience with their System that when they leave the business, they want to have nothing to do with Amway/Quixtar, even if they may have liked the products. Count me as one of those people, but I'm not stupid to throw away everything. Tools were an easy choice because their value became zero upon leaving the business. Everything I kept continues to hold value for me to this day.

Without further ado, here's a list of things I still have from my time in the Amway/Quixtar business:

• Amway Queen Cookware: I must say that the cookware lasts a long-time and continues to work very well. It is very pricey, however, and I don't know how it compares to the mid-range to high-end cookware you can get outside of the business.
• Amway/Rubbermaid Food Containers: These are great for storing dried goods in the cupboard and food to be frozen or refrigerated in the fridge. The only downside is that you can't use the tops in the microwave. They provide a couple microwaveable tops, but I'm constantly misplacing them, so I usually just put a paper towel or saran wrap on top.
• Amway/Wedgewood Plates: The plates I continue to use the most often. One of them has a chip on it, but otherwise, they're fine.
• Amway/Oneida Flatware: The quality of the forks, spoons, and knives is pretty high. We've had no problems with them, and they look like they'll last for many more years.
• Amway Cooking Knife Set: The paring knife and 6-inch knife have chips on them, which have reduced their effectiveness over the years. The bread knife still functions well. I haven't used the larger 8-inch knife all that much. I have another knife set from J.A. Henckels which I've been using more and more lately.
• Oreck Vacuum Cleaner: Probably my worst purchasing decision from the business. I'm constantly having to clean out the rollers of hair and other debris. I need to replace this with a Dyson.
• Whiteboard and stand: Repurposed from showing the plan, the whiteboard now holds my weekly to do list.

Evidently, my kitchen is still stocked with a lot of product! It's interesting to note, however, that many of them were produced in partnership with an well-known outside company like Oneida, Wedgewood or Rubbermaid. For water filtration, I use a Brita filter instead of the Amway one (the product before the eSpring). Finally, I get my snacks, personal hygiene products, cleaning supplies, vitamins and other consumables from CostCo or the supermarket.

Ex-IBOs, do you have anything left from the product side of the business?

I'm know that cheap products like to associate themselves with successful movies, but this is just being greedy. Domino's, in pursuit of a slice of the proverbial pie (pun intended and maliciously so) decided to make a pizza dedicated to The Dark Knight™. My assumption is, the target market for this are rabid Batman™ fanatics who preserve Batman™-related memorabilia in Mylar™.

I would totally understand The Dark Knight™ themed toys, Nokia cellphones, grappling hooks, champagne, hookers and even helicopters, but why pizza? Pizza has no relation to that movie whatsoever. In addition to the fact that it makes very little sense, this ad is so cheesy (yes, I know) it makes me want to vomit into my Batman™ air-sickness bag. Mr. Domino, please, next time introduce a Family Guy Pizza or something, I'm sure that the show's demographic would be more appreciative of the product link anyway.

I saw one of these out in public the other day and was so confused as to what it actually was, so I had to look it up online. I found review after review that raved about it and said how wonderful it was and how great of time-saver it was. It has also been said to help babies that have colic. It causes me pause though, when I read reviews that praise how it helps Moms out...well, let me put it this way. This is one of the negative reviews I found on a product review site and I agree with it for the most part:

"As a pediatric nurse I feel this is a horrible product. Bonding with your baby during feeding is very important. Not to mention the dangers of a baby choking while riding in a carseat eating with no one monitoring them. Are we too busy to feed our children?" - review taken from here

Anyway, I guess my whole point of this is that when this product is used right, it's probably a really good thing - for Moms of twins, triplets or other multiple types or just a busy Mom with many kids and not enough hands. That's good, isn't it? And helping with colic problems is always great! It seems to me that it would be better suited for older children, but that's just me.

But when used wrong, this could be a very BAD product. It frightened me to read all the "positive" reviews where Moms talked about propping up the tiny baby and going off to take a shower or clean somewhere else in the house. This is not something you can just prop your newborn up with and leave them while you go do chores! As the nurse in the review said, it is very dangerous to leave a child alone while eating, even when they're older. And one of the big bonding moments between mother & child, comes during feeding time - whether you breastfeed or bottle feed. If you are SO busy that you can't even be bothered to at least monitor your baby while they eat, I think you really need to take another look at your priorities and see where they lie.

As a side note, the Podee website has this disclaimer at the bottom which improves my view of them IMMENSELY and pretty much says it all:

COMMON SENSE CAUTION: Do not leave baby unattended while feeding. The Podee is meant to be feeding aid and is not intended to be a replacement for Parental Supervision.
