Each week I commute to work on my "Amsterdam" bike that was bought used last fall from a bike rental station in Millennium Park. I also use my dad's twelve-year-old Saturn for weekly trips to the grocery store, out-of-town excursion, etc. While for many reasons I prefer riding my bike to my car, I'm not yet in a position to completely forgo the use of a personal automobile. So, though I limit the use of my car, I have two pre-owned vehicles that I maintain. In the past month, this has meant taking my car to the shop after a break in the exhaust pipe, and bringing my bike to the shop a couple times for broken spokes.

For the car, a broken exhaust pipe meant that every time I ran the car it was as if I had no muffler, so the car was incredibly loud and embarrassing to drive around town, and in no condition to get me back to Muskegon for a weekend trip. Getting it fixed meant that I had to leave work early to get to a trusted mechanic before they closed, and leaving the car overnight while the problem was diagnosed. A call came the next morning with a quote of somewhere near $600; I diverted the information to my dad, who knows more about the car than I do and was able to have them fix the most immediate problem for almost half of that. The car runs quieter now than it has before, but the other $300 worth of issues are still lurking in the undercarriage threatening further problems down the line.

For my bike, broken spokes meant a wobbly back wheel that could become dangerous to ride on for too extended periods of time. I was able to ride it to work, though I did avoid the prospect for a few days, and getting it fixed involved a quick trip to a trusted shop a few blocks from where I work, being able to explain the problem and understand what was needed myself, and picking it up about an hour and $20 later. I recently had a third spoke replaced this month, which could mean the rear rim is bent out of shape and that I might be needing to get the wheel re-built, a service that will cost around $150 and will completely fix the issue. It's worth noting, though, that by riding my bike to work instead of taking the 'el', that $150 will be payed for by savings in two months' time.

Now I realize that this comparison is not completely fair – I don't use my bike to ride back to Muskegon for the weekend, for example, and a car is a much more complex machine that will require more specialized knowledge to understand and fix – but then doesn't that bring about the question of how complex a tool we need for any particular task? I guess in the end I'm presenting this post as evidence of the benefits of using a simpler tool (the bike) for a simple task (traveling four-and-a-half miles) and saving the more complex tool, which requires more extensive repairs after the wear-and-tear of use, (the car) for use only when that tool is really needed.

Totally Free Spyware Removal

The dilemmas brought on by spyware has reached a peak at which experts say the programs are little more than "virtual terrorists". It becomes more serious every year as it increases to near epidemic proportions. I just recently read in well known PC Security magazine that 96% of computers globally are infected with spyware or some form of malware. Hence the need for and importance of Totally Free Spyware removal.

As luck would have it, these malware programs seem to get smarter as each month passes. With the rapid changes in technology, spyware removal software that was effective a few months ago may now be obsolete and unable to cope with the current spawn of spyware threats online today. Spyware evolves and becomes more complex and more difficult to detect and remove, much like organic viral infections.

When Did The Spyware Problem Spiral Out Of Control?

Let's discuss some of the reasons spyware is such a huge problem these days and some of the things we can do to combat it. Only a few years ago the word "spyware" meant little to most people. Getting bombarded by loads of popup ads was probably the most annoying thing that happened whilst surfing online.

The problem of spyware was simple, and could be dealt with quite quickly and easily. Spyware can covertly log keybpard keystrokes, transmit password information to remote locations, hijack browsers, phone long distance numbers using your systems built-in modem and all done quickly and easily without the pc owner being aware of it.

Recently it seems I am spending a fair amount of time removing spyware. Today spyware removal has become a frequent daily task compared to several years ago when it seemed to only be a problem now and again.

Just about every week I am asked by family and friends to have a look at their computers and clean problematic spyware infections. I had just cleaned my mother-in-laws pc the other day only to get a call saying I couldn't have done it properly as she was having the same problems again. Yes I had cleaned her computer properly but it can be difficult for non-techies to understand just how persistent spyware can be.

Having a basic understanding of security issues will of course help in keeping your pc spyware free, but it is not a necessity if you are using totally free spyware removal software. Having a basic understanding of pc & security issues is clearly an advantage however, should you want to use you skills to help other people out with their computer problems.

New computer owners are the ones most likey to be plagued by spyware and or virus issues. When a friend or family member buys a pc for the first time bring them up to speed on the dangers of inedeqaute security and the dangers of spyware and virus infection. Statistics have shown that 99% of 1st time computer buyers purchase their system for web surfing and therefore are most vulnerable to infection from some form of malware. Most people that use a computer on a daily basis dont have technical or security know-how. This same group of people don't seem to worry much about system security, in the false belief that computer hacking or identity theft "only happens to others."

Security breaches can be attributed to two main causes: 1) Covert spyware installation on an experienced users system.

2) The absence of good spyware removal programs to keep up with the constantly evolving spyware threat.

Your home pc should be prevented from further infections by malicious code or malware by knowing a little about what a spyware does, and installing a totally free spyware removal tool.
