Infatti, la casa giapponese, ha intenzione di permettere ai giocatori di godere del loro titolo contando sulle periferiche della concorrenza.

Davvero un'ottma notizia.

Y es que tras las idas y venidas con el nuevo juego de Harmonix nos veíamos los poseedores de ya dos guitarras en los Guitar Hero 2 y 3 que no eran compatibles con el nuevo juego Rock Band. En la 360 sí que lo eran, pero la guitarra del Rock Band no era compatible con los Guitar Hero. En la Playstation 3 ya nada era compatible directamente.

Con los nuevos juegos de “bandas al completo” iba a ser casi imposible convivir con varios instrumentos en cada una de las versiones. Al final parece que no ha llegado la sangre al río y se van a producir muchas compatibilidades en las que los instrumentos de una saga valdrán para la otra y viceversa. Hay detalles como que los micros del Singstar puedan ser utilizados en estos juegos.

Algo también muy esperanzador es que están cerca de anunciar la compatibilidad de las guitarras actuales para ser utilizadas tanto en Guitar Hero como en Rock Band, algo que va a quitarle a alguno muchos quebraderos de cabeza.

Esperamos que Microsoft mueva ficha también y no deje tirado al usuario, si bien es cierto que es la que tiene ahora mismo más compatibilidades entre los sistemas.

Fresh off the Playstation Blog is news that the upcoming peripherals for Rock Band 2 (Harmonix), Rock Revolution (Konami), and Guitar Hero: World Tour (Neversoft/Activision) will at the very least feature some level of basic compatibility across one another. Michael Shorrock, Director of 3rd Party Relations at SCEA, had this to say about it:

"For the past several months, we have been working closely with Neversoft and Activision, Harmonix and Konami to ensure that PlayStation 3 guitars and drum sets will all feature a basic level of gameplay compatibility.

For the most part, this means that the titles with musical peripherals will work with the other’s software. A few specific examples include: Guitar Hero: World Tour’s guitars and drums will work with Rock Band 2 and Konami’s Rock Revolution software.

And yes, you guessed it, Rock Band 2’s guitar and drum set will work with Guitar Hero: World Tour and with Rock Revolution.

Conversely, Rock Revolution’s drum set will work with both Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2.

In addition, Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Band 2 will both support the SingStar microphones.

We’re still working hard to ensure compatibility between the Guitar Hero and Rock Band titles currently on the market, and we hope to have an announcement on that shortly.

Of course each of these great games have their own specific cool features that may not be compatible with the other controllers, but this is our first big step in bringing a level of compatibility to music games that is sure to benefit PlayStation 3 consumers."

Y'all get that? Seems to be an important first step in eroding my previous fears of the market being crowded with a glut of incompatible instruments - after all, don't these companies want to get their games out to the greatest number of people as possible? So why limit that by restricting compatibility in the first place? Of course, this means squat for the GH and RB games/peripherals currently out for the PS3 now - meaning if you want to play all of those new music titles this fall, you'll still have to jump on one of their bundled sets - so hopefully something fruitful will come out of that matter.

SCEA Director of Third Party Relations, Michael Shorrock, updated the compatibility of music peripherals on the PS3. Many people have full band equipment from Rock Band, and most gamers don't want their entire living room taken up by sets of plastic instruments. Luckily, you won't have to buy an entire package all over again. The compatibility list on the Official PlayStation Blog is as follows:

Rock Band 2

• Drums and guitar work with Guitar Hero: World Tour and Rock Revolution.

Guitar Hero: World Tour

• Drums and guitar work with Rock Band 2 and Rock Revolution.

Rock Revolution

• Only drums work with Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour.

SingStar

• Microphones work with Rock Band 2 and Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Of course some games will have special features that only work with their specific instruments, but interchangable peripherals can ease your wallet's pain. I'm hoping no one would want to buy Rock Revolution anyway.

Did you buy the mic for Singstar, but didn't want to have to buy the mic for Rock Band 2 as well? Were you going to buy Rock Band 2 and the accompanying instruments, but didn't want to have to buy the entire package for Guitar Hero: World Tour? Guess what. Sony was looking out for you.

PS. Konami is not left out of the fun. The instruments will be compatible with Rock Revolution as well.

A recent blog post has indicated that Sony is ensuring that PS3 users will have the ability to enjoy the upcoming music games without having to spend a fortune. You have to have heard someone ask which title should they get. No one really wants to spend all of their Christmas budget on these two titles alone.

Sony said an announcement for compatibility between the current music titles will arrive when the feature arrives. Color me impressed. Do you think this will sway multiconsole owners to purchase the PS3 version of these upcoming titles?

I'm happy to see some offical pictures of all the new Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Konami's Rock Revolution peripherals (well Konami only showed the drums kit, and it looked a little strange).  The nice thing is that Konami stated that both RB and Gh's guitar will be compatible with their game.  I'm getting pretty psyched that these will start launching next month, and I'll have a whole new bey of songs to play and download.

Ion is introducing there own uber drum kit for the Rock Band series which just looks crazy mad.  By itself, it'll be $300, metal, and ships with 4 drum pads, 2 cymbals and kick peddle.  For even another $50 you can buy yet a 3rd cymbal!

Harmonix's new Stratocaster looks pretty sweet, and they promise it will be much more sturdy than the original, meaning overdrive sensor and strum bar, plus it's wireless.  A fine addition to my colllection.  However, RedOctane's new axe for World Tour may be the one to get.  Also wireless, it has an additional touch sensitive neck for hand sliding and an oversized 'star power' button (thank God!) so you won't have to tilt your guitar to achieve star power.

I played RB last night for a bit and tried multiplayer online play.  I experimented with both 'Tug of War' and 'Score Duel' modes and had my as handed to me all four times, but it was fun.  I have to get out of the competitve mindset and just enjoy it playing a song with someone else.  The problem for me is that Tug of War is very unforgiving...miss one note and it's very difficult to recover against the other player.  This resulted in a True Skill point value of '1' for me, even though on medium I was pulling perfect solos and completing like 97-98% of the song.  Seems a bit harsh to ever recover and be motivated to continue playing...you find yourself praying the other guy misses one note as well just to give you a chance.

I may need to buy a new HD soon with all the songs coming down the pipeling.  My 20GB drive is already 75% full lest I remove some other games and demo's.

On the horizon for me: Force Unleashed, Rise of the Argonauts, GH WT, RB 2, Too Human, Fracture, GoW2, Lego Batman, CoD 5, Clone Wars (Wii) and a few others.  Man, I don't even have time now....or money.

Speaking of money....I was so planning on buying a new PC today.  A new Dell XPS system to replace my 5year +, but then my wife told me yesterday she is behind on bills.  Dammit.  Well, there that goes for now.  I was eyeing a 2.4 GHz system with 3GB memory, plenty of L2 cache, and a 20" widescreen monitor for my WoW and CoH habits.  Looks like that's put on hold....yet again.  ::Grumble::

Been getting back into my PSP again too...playing Metal Gear Solid Ac!D and enjoying it.  My coworker was showing me his new God of War PSP slim and gameplay and it looks pretty sweet as well.

Wii: Okay, so my store didn't get the Wii Fit today, but I also have an alert from Amazon.com sent to my phone.  If any Fit's become available, they send you a TXT message to whcih you simply reply 'Buy', and they send one to you based on your Amazon account.  Well imagine my surprise when I got my alert today (WooHoo!!) at 10:17am saying they are available.  I reply at 10:20am with my text.  At 10:22am I receive a reply back saying they are now 'unavailble'!!!  DOH!!  WTF?  So between the time I received the alert and I responded (3 minutes!) they were already sold out again.  What....did they only get 2 in stock?

Ah well, there's always next week.

  

Andar anunciando las listas de canciones para los proximos juegos musicales se esta volviendo algo un poco cotidiano, primero la de Rock Band 2 (la cual ya es oficial) y despues vino la de Guitar Hero World Tour la cual resulto ser falsa, y ahora llega la lista completa y oficial de Rock Revolution.

Lamentablemente todos sabemos que Rock Revolution sera uno de esos juegos que tienen el fracaso asegurado inclusive antes de su lanzamiento, pero no crean que es por que yo lo digo, seamos honestos con Konami este juego no tiene posibilidades frente a Guitar Hero World Tour y Rock Band 2 y dudo que los jugadores tengan espacio para almacenar mas instrumentos de plastico.

Lauren la Manager encargada de anunciar el titulo de ROCK REVOLUTION, no solo presento a un grupo mediocre (las Sheenas, que yo pense que era igual a un grupo aqui en México llamado las Chinas que tocan 1 millon de veces mejor que estas perdedoras), cantando una de las mejores canciones de RAMONES. Sino que ella misma destrozo la canción en el juego . . . donde no solo se tardo como media hora tratando de quitarse la chamarra, sino que a cada error al momento de pisar los botones te hacia desear que ya se acabara la presentación. Digo hasta mi abuelita le daria clases al tocar esta canción en Rock Band en el nivel mas alto.

Pero lo peor de lo peor fue que esta ha sido la peor presentación que he visto por parte de KONAMI en toda su historia . . . es una lastima, una porqueria, un desastre absoluto que los otros medios catalogan como el principio del fin para ROCK REVOLUTION. Mis amigos que incluso grabaron el video, me platican que en el salon despues de la presentación las personas no pidieron información . . . no se emocionaron y el aplauso fue mas por compromiso que por otra cosa. Y obvio los hardcore destrozaron la actuación de la presentadora . . . y por eso te pido que veas el video . . . olvidate del juego, que por cierto con el cover que se probo, deja mucho que desear, yo la verdad espera algo mejor de KONAMI pero como les dije en la entrada respectiva . . . ni MTV GAMES ni ACTIVISION van a soltar las licencias originales, asi que cualquier juego de este tipo, solo conseguira covers que se escuchan mal y se juegan peor.

KONAMI espero que tomes cartas en el asunto, y primero despidas a la Senior Manager y con ese dinero que te ahorres . . . ponte a revolucionar tu ROCK REVOLUTION porque sino sera la basura mas grande y apestosa.

y en la presentación pudieron verse dos cosas erróneas.

Lo primero unas payasas tocando un superclásico de The Ramones. No puedo entender cómo una canción TAN buena puede sonar TAN mal, más que nada por la voz, que es para potar.

Pero esto no es lo peor. Por favor, si aguantáis la primera parte, no os perdáis la segunda...

Vergonzoso.Quiero decir... ¿cómo cojones se atreven a poner a una tía que no ha jugado en su vida en expert para MOSTRAR el juego? Dios, que la pongan en fácil!!! O que pongan a alguien que sepa!!

Este año en el E3 parece que todo lo han hecho con prisas y sin un pavo. Pésima la demostración jugada, donde el batería a buen seguro estaba pensando: dios, pero por qué, por qué si no tiene ni puta idea...Ya estamos acostumbrados a ver jugadores noveles hacer demostraciones en juegos. Luego esos videos se suben a internet para hacer publicidad y encuentras gente en shooters que en lugar de mostrar un gameplay espetacular, no paran de morir una y otra vez. Para eso en ocasiones hasta se trucan las demostraciones, haciendo un "playback" jueguil o más fácil aun!! usando trucos. Un buen God-Mode nunca sobra en una demostración. Pero ésto...

Ésto... es imperdonable, tíos cutres!!!

Otra conferencia visionada en directo, esta vez bajo la esperanza de presenciar algún Megatón que despida el E3 por todo lo alto. Por desgracia, no ha sido así... He aquí un breve resumen de lo acontecido:

23:43 Comienzan la conferencia comentando lo bien que está vendiendo MGS4 y agradeciendo las buenas críticas que ha recibido.

23:45 Anuncian el pack de Expansión Gene para MGS Online: nuevos mapas, personajes y muchas sorpresas. Se lanzará el 17 de julio (hoy!). Interesante, habrá un campeonato oficial de MGS Online entre gente de Asia Europa y Norte América durante el Tokio Game Show -en Octubre-.

23:46 Resumen de lo que enseñarán. Comenta que Elebits DS será un gran título, pero no muestran nada...

23:49 ¡Sube al escenario el gran Koji Igarashi! Las leyendas eran ciertas: lleva puesto un sombrero de vaquero que contribuye a aumentar su aura de coolness. Presenta un tráiler de Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. Nada realmente nuevo. ¿Recordáis aquellas imágenes que publiqué en otra ocasión? Pues imaginaroslas en movimiento y os haréis una idea del tráiler. La ambientación recuerda bastante a Symphony of the Night, lo cual es bueno.

23:53 Igarashi presenta Castlevania: Judgement para Wii. Comenta que no es un juego de lucha como mucha gente piensa sino, en sus propias palabras, "3D versus action game". Muestra un tráiler en el que aparecen Alucard, Simon Belmont, Maria (muy jovencita) y Drácula; todos con un diseño que recuerda extremadamente a Death Note. En total serán 14. Muchos movimientos especiales y efectos chulos. Disponible a finales de 2008.

23:57 Igarashi justifica el mezcladillo de personajes explicando que la historia transcurre a lo largo de 1000 años pero hay un personaje que entrelaza las historias de todos mediante poderes mágicos... O algo por el estilo. El artista responsable de los diseños es Takeshi Obata (yep, el de Dead Note).

23:58 Demo in-game. La cámara se centra en el enemigo y es capaz de girar 360 grados. El nunchuk sirve para bloquear, saltar y esquivar (en este último caso, agitándolo). Con el wii-mando atacaremos. Las armas secundarias están presentes, así como objetos esparcidos por el escenario y elementos con los que interactuar (Simon agarra un candelabro y lo utiliza como lanza). Los ataques especiales se muestran en cutscenes. Gráficamente no es nada del otro mundo, a la altura de PS2.

24:06 Tráiler de Silent Hill: Homecoming. El protagonista, tras despertarse de una pesadilla, deambula por Silent Hill en busca de un tal Josh que es la clave para conocer todas las respuestas. Aparece una enfermera.

24:08 Toca walkthrough. El protagonista se mueve por un ¿comedor? oscuro y deteriorado. El juego utilizará el motor físico Havok. El desarrollador insiste en la eficiencia del menú del inventario, las armas se podrán usar tanto para atacar como para inetractuar con el ambiente. La transición al mundo oscuro es bastante espectacular, nada de cutscenes. Diferentes líneas de diálogos que repercutirán en el desarrollo. Por cierto, la demo corre en una Xbox 360. Los modelos de los personajes son un tanto mediocres, sin embargo, los escenarios lucen de maravilla.

24:14 Batalla contra jefe. Se enfrenta a un monstruo bastante grande situado en el centro de la sala y rodeado de ¿sacos de carne?. Hay que golpear esas cosas para que el enemigo caiga del techo y exponga su punto débil. Cuando te agarra hay que ejecutar Quick Time Events para escapar de una muerte segura. Se lo cargan con un hacha. Fin de la demo.

24:18 Le toca el turno al "ultrarealista juego de rock que todos estábamos esperando". Comienzan los lulz con una banda de tías muy feas que interpretan una canción de Los Ramones, con instrumentos de verdad. Son bastante mediocres.

24:21 Reinterpretan la canción. Esta vez mediante los periféricos de Rock Revolution (similares a los de Rock Band). El in-game es clavado a Guitar Hero y Rock Band, pero algo más cutre. Oh LOL! El grupo (The Sheenas...) hace el ridículo, destrozan la canción en el juego -aún más que con los instrumentos reales, lo cual ya es decir...-.

24:23 La conferencia de Konami termina abruptamente con un FAIL como una catedral. Me pregunto quien será capaz de comprar esto en lugar de Rock Band...

Y eso es todo.
