Os mostramos una guía sobre algunas de las maquinas que podremos ver en Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. T-600

El T-600 es el predecesor del T-800 que conocemos (interpretado por Arnold). Se trata de una versión más grande y tosca. Faciles de detectar y letales, posiblemente serán los enemigos que más veamos enfrentandose a John Connor y los suyos.

T-800

Este será el sustituto de Arnold. Roland Kickinger. Previsiblemente tendrá un enfrentamiento con John Connor, aunque no por ello, podá evitar que Skynet envié al T-800 al pasado a matar a Sarah Connor. Y John Connor tendrá que enviar a Kyle Reese a proteger a su madre y posibilitar su propia existencia. Más tarde otro modelo de esta misma versión T-800 sería reprogramado por John Connor para ser enviado al pasado y procurarse protección, pero supongo que eso se verá en Terminator 5.

HARVESTER

En el trailer puede verse como una mano metálica atraviesa un muro y agarra a un pobrecito ser humano. Supuestamente estamos ante los Harvester. Maquinas gigantescas dedicadas a la recolección de humanos con vida, destinados a los experimentos de Skynet o a campos de esclavos.

HYDROBOTS

Los Hydrobots son maquinas que se desplazan por el agua patrullando en busca de humanos. No creo que se dejen ver mucho en la pantalla, supongo que los seres humanos, en el medio acuático llevan las de perder.

AEROSTATS

En el trailer no aparece en ningún momento maquinas voladoras. La única pista que podemos tener es este cuerpo que aparece colgado, posiblemente tras el enfrentamiento con alguno de los aerostats. Aunque no es seguro.

En las otras películas, en diversos flashbacks, pueden verse el aspecto que tendrían los aerostats, que podrían ser como el de las imagenes pequeñitas de arriba.

Now it’s hard to not have preconceptions about a country you hear so much about in the news.  For a country emerging from one of the most devastating events of the 20^th century, you’d never expect the degree of normalcy that Rwanda gives off.  Now it’s easy to say such things as a Muzungu; the brevity of my stay just simply does not allow me the ability to delve much deeper than the superficial appearance of things.  Rwanda has progressed leaps and bounds since the 90s. One of the things that I was most surprised to discover when coming to Rwanda is the degree of gender equality.  Now I’m not saying this as if it is good in comparison to other African countries; Rwanda has a requirement that 30% of its government be made up of females and the actual number is above that. This is something not even Canada or the United States has ever achieved.  Because women are now seen as being breadwinners, poor families see a reason in sending a girl to school.  “Before, parents did not want to have girls; they were only good for having kids and cultivating,” says Hakuzimana Marcelline who is the coordinator of the clinic program for Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund International, “Parents chose between kids to go to school and girls stayed home.”

Marcelline is one of the women who work at the Karisoke Research Center. She has worked as a nurse for 8 years and just started with DFGFI in May of 2008.  She trains other nurses and health animators on sanitation, nutrition and parasites.  Over sixty health animators go into the local population next to the Volcanoes National Park and check their health and talk to them about their living conditions.  Marcelline goes into the population as well and briefs people on toilets, washing hands, proper clothing and taking care of their bodies.

Today we are on the edge of the park in Bisate where we are going to see the water tank that was installed by the water and sanitation program of DFGFI.  The people who live next to the forest are the one with the most contact with gorillas. The need to ensure their health is a priority.  Because of the lack of clean water, parasites are common and it is Marcelline’s job is to make sure that anyone who is found with an infection be treated.

On the park frontier in Bisate, the well-off families have houses made of mud. The red mud that most houses are made from has to be shipped up by truck because the volcanic soil is too porous.  This can be a pricey endeavour so most houses are made of bamboo and covered in banana leaves.  When we arrive at the water tank there is a crowd gathered around the spout.  The dry season is just about to begin and I am aware that this crowd will be double the size once it does.   After walking around a bit, Marcelline pulls me over to show me something.  There has been a mischievous little one who has been defecating around the tank.  She gathers the kids together and gives them a small lecture on why it is so important to go in the latrine. “Parents have to teach their kids to protect themselves against parasites,” says Marcelline.

Marcelline is optimistic that the status of women will get even better with time. “For the moment, women are still low in society. There are not even many women who are nurses but now you see women in all different fields: there are women drivers, managers and politicians.”

The move to a less serialized format for the show is hoped to lure back viewers.  Last year, Sarah Connor started with gang-buster ratings but saw a steep decline over the course of the season.  The numbers were picking up as the season ended, but a long hiatus may have made viewers forget what’s happening in the on-going storyline.  The series had been on hiatus since March. FOX was planning to rerun the series in August, so that the first season finale would lead directly into the second season premiere. It still may, fingers crossed.

I hope it doesn't change the serialized format too much. Hopefully something Dexter like. Stand-alone episodes with a running story-line that gets bigger or more important as the season ends, but then again, this is FOX were talking about. We're lucky they're even bringing it back at all. It's my guess they wouldn't have if it weren't for the up-coming Terminator re-launch trilogy with Christian Bale.

The first season will hit DVD on August 19 and then return for its second season on FOX in early September.

Sobresalen las especulaciones acerca de sí Arnold Schwarzenegger hará un cameo en la cinta, se dice también que el director Jonathan Mostow –quien dirigió sin éxito la tercera parte- podría repetir, se habla de una pequeña participación de Edward Furlong, quien interpretó a John Connor en la segunda entrega, aunque el papel principal bien podría ser para el actor Nick Stahl. La expectación por el filme crece con la transmisión en E.U. de la serie de T.V. Terminator 3: Rise of the machines 2003, Dir. Jonathan Mostow: Luego de la muerte de su madre, John Connor se prepara para combatir de nuevo la amenaza de la catástrofe humana. Esta vez tendrá que enfrentar a un Cyborg T-X mucho más poderoso que el T-101 que lo acompaña.

Terminator 4: Con sus cameos y su reinterpretación de los personajes podría cerrar el círculo ya que tratará la guerra de resistencia de Connor contra las maquinas.

We're still a couple of months away - but FOX is already out with a pair of awesome looking promo trailers for Season 2 of Sarah Connor Chronicles.

First thing that you'll notice is that Cameron (the foxy terminator) is apparently turning on John. Not a big surprise is it? (or is it just another copy sent from the future?)

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The 1.09 What He Beheld (2008)

Sarah makes arrangements to buy The Turk but it goes somewhat less than smoothly when the seller informs her that, not only will he not be selling her the Turk, but that he will be extorting $2 million for her continued anonymity.

The episode opens with what seems like a wasteful, pointless future scene but it pays off real nicely in the John Connor's birthday plotline. It well-written, -acted and -directed; an under-stated scene, beautifully played and with real emotional resonance. It is this surprisingly low-key, agreeably understated nature of this show that has been its strongest plus point. The makers (and there are only ten principle producers on this show, low for American television) have clearly tried really hard to make a thoughtful character-based drama and have largely succeeded. It is impressive that this season finale isn't all action, all end-of-the-world melodrama. The restrained, usually inferred or not shown, violence also makes a very pleasant change for an American show, especially one rife with opportunity. I shall certainly be catching this show when it returns.

This Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The episode contains graphic gun violence, strong sword violence, unpleasant and slightly gory scenes.

Derek's distrust of Cameron pays off when he discovers the terminator CPU she kept. They access its visual memory and note, with some surprise, that the terminator had been living undercover as a married man. But what was his mission?

Some deeply unconvincing computer tech spoils things this week and while the story has a logical coherence throughout, it feels like it doesn't really make sense. Also while Sarah's conclusion that Derek killed Andy Goode is, of course, correct, the episode provides no satisfactory explanation as to how she reaches that. We've already established that multiple terminators are running around with different missions and while the Vick terminator didn't kill him, surely another one could have. On top of that, her statement that she'll kill Derek if he lies to her again is just plain stupid. Though very American.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The 1.07 Demon Hand, The (2008)

Sarah tries to track down the missing Terminator hand while Agent Ellison travels to see Dr Silberman. Derek still refuses to trust Cameron who has been tasked with discovering information about who bought The Turk. John learns about something Sarah did while inside the mental institution and struggles to deal with it.

Bruce Davison manages to be incredibly annoying in yet another entertainment enterprise though he does get punched in the face by Sarah Connor, soaked to the skin and locked in a mental hospital. Good. The episode is generally good but low-key but contains a sequence of terrific scenes in the third act. Cameron and a pair of informants is well contrasted with a scene with Lena Headey and Agent Ellison. This is followed by a very strong scene between mother and son Connor and that scene, together with the Dr Silberman stuff, directly ties this episode in brilliantly to James Cameron's Terminator 2.

This Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles, The episode contains brief extreme and not graphic violence, inferred gun violence.

Mit Sarah und Marc crazy in Love geht die Geschichte nun weiter. Der Zuschauer erlebt am Bildschirm das Auf und Ab einer Promiehe, die Erziehung der zwei Kleinen, die Schwangerschaft der 50 jährigen Mutter und die ersten Schritte der kleinen Schwester im Showbizz.

Nachdem man (mit man meine ich mich) ja schon seit längerem nicht mehr viel von Sarah und noch weniger von Marc gehört hat (singt der eigentlich noch?), ist die Show doch eh nur Mittel zum Zweck um sich mal wieder ins Gerede zu bringen. Mit Erfolg, denn die erste Folge gestern Abend hatte wohl ganz gute Quoten.

Warum man aber gleich eine zweistündige Episode daraus gemacht hat ist mir schleierhaft, denn zur Hälfte bestand sie ja eh nur aus Rückblenden der letzten "Staffel". Egal, ist immer noch besser als die zwei hysterischen Modetrullas auf dem Bauernhof dabei zu beobachten, wie sie sich gegen die Arbeit auflehnen.

Naja, das Sommerloch muss man halt irgendwie stopfen, warum dann halt nicht mit Promis, deren Karrieren auf dem absteigenden Ast sind. Wenn's glücklich macht.

Os traemos algunos spoilers y detalles de la segunda temporada de Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles...

• Garret Dillahunt regresará en la segunda temporada de la serie convirtiendo su Terminator (Cromartie) en un personaje regular.
• Cameron (Summer Glau) tiene algunos problemas tras sobrevivir a esa explosión al final de la primera temporada y todo el mundo cambiará tras el primer episodio de la proxima temporada.
• También veremos a Cameron intentando eliminar a otras chicas de la vida de John Connor, tan pronto sienta que suponen algún tipo de amenaza estratégica.

El estreno de la segunda temporada está previsto para el lunes 18 de septiembre, si no hay cambios en el calendario de estrenos de la cadena Fox.

My 7 year old daughter has become one of the 5 biggest fans of the Terminator I have ever met.

She is a big fan of the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show and the other night she noticed the original 3 films in my DVD collection.

After she begged for a few hours as only a 7 year old can,  we sat down to watch the first one.

This is not a review. This is just an observation. I never noticed this before and now that I have and REALLY thought about it - this movie is ruined for me.

I shall now ruin it for YOU.

The Terminator comes to our time to kill Sarah Connor.

That is all it has to do. It does not need to eat. It does not need to sleep. It does not need to rest. All it needs to do is find Sarah Connor - and kill her. So why then, does the Terminator - get a motel room.

I have seen this movie 15 times and never questioned it. I am questioning it now. Why would the Terminator get a motel room. It is implied that he 'snuck" into the room as we see him climb in the window, but then later a maintenance man asks if he has a dead cat in the room. So they know SOMEBODY is there.

So WHY IS HE THERE?

You would think that the Terminator would spend EVERY waking moment hunting for Sarah Connor - what with him being a TERMINATOR and all.

The whole Kyle Reese is John Connor's father thing used to make my head hurt, but now - I'm just annoyed.

Mikkel Remee Sigvardt & Thomas Troelsen, dänische Star-Produzenten (u.a. des No.1 Hits Hot Summer und der weltweiten No.1 Superstar von Jamelia) wurde von Sarah ebenso ins Team geholt, wie JR Rotem, Songwriter aus LA, der bereits mit Künstlern wie Britney Spears, Dr. Dre, Destiny's Child & Sean Kingston arbeitete.

Das Ergebnis ist ein heißer Mix verschiedener Sounds, Hip-Pop nennt Sarah den Stil ihres neuen Albums:

I have a slight fascination with plants.  Botany had always been a side dream of mine.  Plants don’t judge; they don’t think: they just are. Each one is a fascinating in its own way, perfectly adapted to their environment.  You could spend lifetimes, and people have, studying the billions of different plants that have evolved to be in that place at that time.

That’s why, when I interviewed Aimable Nsanzurwimo who is the coordinator of the Botany Research Program at the Karisoke Research Center, I could hardly contain my glee.  The Albertine Rift has 1,034 plant species, 82 of which are endemic to the Albertine Rift, with more being discovered all the time.  Aimable is basically a kid in a candy store and I envy him.

Aimable Nsanzurwimo has been with the Karisoke Research Center since 2005 but, like most employees here, started as a student studying for his bachelors on bamboo.  Bamboo is very important vegetation to both the monkeys in the park and the gorillas as they provide a good source of food. By looking at species that are associated with bamboo growth, he could determine the positive and negative impact they had on its growth.

Of particular interest to him was whether or not gorillas knew to choose certain plants in order to medicate themselves.  Aimable looked at how the local population used plants for medication and then looked at what plants the gorillas eat.  The two corresponded.  Of the 110 plants used by the people for medicinal purposes, the gorillas shared 35.  This meant that there is a possibility that the gorillas were eating certain plants to help with minor illnesses, such as bowel troubles.

Some of the plants that gorillas eat include the secamone Africana, the gomphocarpus physocatpus, the pentarrhinum inspidum and, of course, bamboo which is shared by both gorillas and Golden Monkeys.

 

The vast amount of diversity at the park means that Aimable has a large amount of work ahead of him.  He has begun a plant database of all the plants in the park.  He has also reviewed the list of plants that the monkeys and gorillas eat.  Around 80 and 114 plants are eaten by them respectively.  So far, he has identified 162 plant species and discovered new species of moss, orchids and sponges.  Weather in North-Western Rwanda is varying; I was supposed to have missed the rainy season all together but instead the rain continued for another half a month.  In order to measure this change, Aimable has begun recording rainfall per month.

In the future, Aimable wants to continue his research on bamboo and orchids over a long term along with continued updates on the plant catalogue.  He also hopes to have a botanical garden for all the plants in the first two vegetation areas of the volcanoes.  The mere idea of having an area where one can be surrounded by and observe all the different plants of the Volcanoes National Park makes me drool.

However, Aimable’s set-up is still not up to par for the work he is trying to do now.  The sad fact is that he does not have enough resources: he is using newspapers to preserve plants.  Nevertheless, looking back to 2005 and how the Botany Program has so far grown, Aimable is very happy and believes the best is yet to come…
