Daca intri pe forumurile special dedicate Microsoft Vista vei observa ca majoritatea celor de acolo se plang de diferitele probleme pe care le-au intalnit.

Cu toate ca utilizatorii acestui sistem au intampinat probleme inca de la achizitia lui, Vista s-a vandut in intreaga lume in mai mult de 140 de milioane de exemplare.

Am dat un google search si uite ce-am gasit...

Cei mai multi utilizatori au gasit enervante setarile din user account control. Mai exact, acele setari care nu te lasa sa accesezi anumite pagini web pentru ca, spune Vista, contin virusi ce se pot instala in PC-ul tau. De asemenea, o fereastra apare de fiecare data cand vrei sa instalezi un program, prin care ti se cere permisiunea de a instala programul respectiv. Nu inteleg de ce mai are nevoie de permisiunea ta, din moment ce tu ai ales acel program pentru a-l instala?

Pentru a scapa de aceste ferastruici si pentru a putea accesa oricand ce site-uri vrei, cica tre sa-ti iei Sevice Pack 1.

O alta imbunatatire pe care o poti face pentru a-ti usura viata este sa-i adaugi memorie.

Microsoft spune ca pentru a utiliza Vista un PC trebuie sa aiba cel putin 512 MB. In lumea reala, iti trebuie cam 1 GB de RAM. Desi poate fi asociata cu o interventie pe creier, adaugarea de memorie nu este chiar atat de complicata. Pana si-o blonda s-ar pricepe daca ar primi cateva instructiuni...din nou va spun, eu nu intru in discutie pentru ca vopseau nu mi-a afectat inca neuronii.

Foloseste doar acele programe de care ai nevoie.

Vista este din start un program mult mai complex decat celelalte existente pe piata (cica asa zic niste unii experti in PC-uri) si din acest motiv, de fiecare data cand pornesti calculatorul, pornesti 1000 de mini programe. Multe dintre ele nici nu-ti trebuie, asa ca scapa de ele.

Make Vista Uglier – asa s-ar traduce urmatoarea miscare pe care trebuie sa o faci pentru a scapa de o parte din problemele pe care le intampini cu Vista.

Imaginile de desktop si aplicatiile aferente – care fie vorba intre noi sunt foarte dragute- utilizeaza foarte multa memorie, fapt pentru care trebuie sa scapi de ele.

Si cam aici se incheie lista sfaturilor...pe blogul meu. Insa poti gasi mai multe ponturi pentru o casnicie frumoasa intre tine si Vista.

Pina am cedat nervos si l-am instalat. Hai, bine, gata, uite, am dat install. Si... evident, it huffed and it puffed and it then it failed. Adica nu s-a instalat. A incercat, apoi cand a vazut ca nu poate a zis sa stearga ce prostii facuse si sa se duca la culcare. Numai ca aici, la partea cu stersul prostiilor, a facut exces de zel, pare-se.

De instalat l-am instalat eu acum cateva zile, dar de atunci mi-a fost teama sa mai dau shut down la computer, asa ca l-am lasat numai pe sleep, ca banuiam ce se va intimpla daca l-as reporni. Numai ca azinoapte, nu stiu cum si in ce fel, calculatorul meu care teoretic dormea, s-a trezit si a mincat toata bateria si a inceput sa tipe de foame la un moment din noapte la care eu eram cufundata in vise. Sau macar in somn. Si m-am trezit nestiind ce bipaie asa de tare si cu nesimtire la ora aia, am vazut ca beculetul albastru zice ca laptopul e aprins, i-am infipt in fund coarda de alimentare si l-am deschis, sa vad ce vrea de la viata mea. Era o eroare pe ecran, ceva ca nu poate porni. Si?!!! Cine crezi ca vrea sa pornesti la ora asta masinarie neghioaba? I-am infipt un deget in butonul de oprire si m-am culcat la loc.

Dimineata uitasem de episodul asta petrecut la ore indecente, intre doua vise, si nu stiam ce e cu sentimentul ala ca si cum ar fi ceva nesuferit si iminent de care ar trebui sa stiu dar nu-mi mai aduc aminte. Poate ca era faptul ca vine umf din dubai azi si nu o sa mai am tot patul pentru mine? Mda, poate... Dar pina la urma ... nu. M-am prins cand am deschis laptopul si acelasi mesaj de azinoapte a aparut. Nu poate porni. Ii lipseste ntoskrnl.exe. Zaau?! Si ce sa-ti fac eu? Sa ma duc sa-ti iau de la magazin un ntoskrnl.exe, puisor? Hai porneste, nu vrei? nu si nu! Daca n-are ntoskrnl nu vrea dom'le!

Bine, poate gasim unul de imprumut... Pun un dvd de windows vista si ii dau repair. Poate l-o copia de acolo, cat de complicat sa fie, daca n-ai un fisier sa-l iei de undeva? Si musai sa fie in kitul de vista, nu? Dar nu. S-a reparat si ras-reparat si tot stricat a ramas.

Asa ca acum sunt posesoarea unei instalari noi noute de windwos vista si mi-am petrecut toata ziua punind la loc programele de care am nevoie. N-am terminat, desigur, mai am cat sa-mi ajunga pina luni reinstalarea :) Si ca bomboana pe coliva mai am si un frumos UAC ce-mi apare la fiecare programel pe care vreau sa-l execut. Uitasem de el de cand mi-am pus ultima data sistemul de operare. Ma duc sa vad de unde se da disable cat mai repede, ca altfel o sa trimit laptopul sa faca UAC-UAC in lac!

• Install service pack 1

The first thing to do is to make sure you install service pack 1. This includes all the small performance updates that were released, including some vital ones that increase multi core and memory performance.

• Turn off automatic hibernation

When you use your pc for gaming you often need to download large files. This could be the game themselves (if digitally purchased) or patches for games. It seems vista by default sets you pc to hibernate after 20 minutes (I think) of idle time. This is obviously no good if you want to leave you pc downloading big files while you do something else.

To turn this off go to control panel -> System and Maintenance -> Power Options -> Change when the computer sleeps.

Change the put the computer to sleep option to never to turn off auto hibernation.

• Install the gamertag gadget

If you have a 360 or play a lot of the games for windows titles then you may want to show off and keep track of your gamerscore. There are a few gamertag gadgets but the one I have been using is called compact xbox360 gamercard. To install a new gadget that is not in the gadget list go to get more gadgets online. From there search for gamertag and you should find this nice little gadget.

• Install the Steam gadget

The steam gadgets displays your favorite servers in the sidebar and shows how many people are in them as well as what map the server is on. To get his gadget simply go to get more gadgets online and search for steam. When you click a server the gadget expands to show the players, scores and an image of the map.

When look into the “Event Viewer”, found the following error description:

The schema version (3.0.149.0) of the database DATA
DATABASE_NAME on DATABA_SESERVER_NAME is not consistent with the expected database schema version (3.X.X.X) on DATABASE_NAME.  Connections to this database from this server have been blocked to avoid data loss.  Upgrade the web front end or the content database to ensure that these versions match.

Resolution:

The first thing we did was either remove content database from the web application which are having the error or Detach the database. This doesn’t seem to work. So we run the command

stsadm –o upgrade –inplace –url Central_Administration_URL –forceupgrade

and we were back in the business J.

Il primo problema, riscontrato da molti utenti ma prontamente risolto dalla Microsoft, è stato l'incapacità di Microsoft AutoUpdate di trovare l'aggiornamento sui server della casa madre. Il secondo problema, ben più importante e fastidioso del primo, ha afflitto e continua ad affliggere migliaia di utenti Mac: al termine dell'installazione del SP1, quando si tenta di lanciare un qualsiasi programma del pacchetto Office, si ottiene in risposta una richiesta di registrazione del programma. Dopo l'installazione dell'aggiornamento, quindi, può accadere che Office non riconosca più la licenza inserita all'atto dell'installazione del software.

La soluzione al problema esiste e si compone di pochi, semplici passaggi. Occorre innanzitutto aprire il Finder, localizzare e cancellare i seguenti due files:

1. /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist

2. ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist

Successivamente, basterà avviare un qualsiasi programma Office e, quando richiesto, reinserire il numero di serie.

ringkas nya sbb (coz entu bhasa inggirs) :

1. Pastikan service Windows Update dan Background Intelligent Transfer Services berjalan (started) bisa dilihat di run>services.msc

2. Windows Update set ke automatic :

3. Buka Internet Explorer > Tools > Internet Options > Security >Trusted Sites Zone, > Sites > Hilangkan tanda centang di Clear the Require server verification ( https: ) for all sites in this zone option > di Add this Web site to the zone: text box, ketikkan
   https://*.microsoft.com, da kemudian klik Add. klik OK.

4. Klik Custom Level, kemudian pilih Enable untuk item dibawah :
   Download signed ActiveX controls.
   Download unsigned ActiveX controls.
   Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe.
   Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
   Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.
   Klik OK, dan klik OK sekali lagi untuk keluar dari Internet Properties.

setelah reboot n selese instalasi service pack 1 ternyata theme GlassGlow q balik ke tampilan classic (lihat gambar 4). Itu dikarenakan file uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll dan shsvcs.dll yang telah ter patch sebelumnya (untuk menjalankan theme GlassGlow ketiga file tersebut sebelumnya harus di ganti dengan file yang sudah dimodifikasi (patch) terlebih dahulu) ditimpa oleh file original dari SP1. Untung saja punya tuh pacth yang buat SP1, jadi tinggal di ganti aja file originalnya (sebelumnya harus di take ownership dahulu) akhirnya theme GlassGlownya jalan lagi deh. hehe... Oya, Waktu boot jadi tambah cepet..

Entah kenapa komputer saya sering restart, padahal menurut teknisi sudah diupdate BIOS dan segala driver hardware-nya. Karena menurut teknisi tersebut permasalahan ada pada hardware komputer tersebut. Sekedar informasi, komputer yang saya gunakan adalah keluaran Dell. Dipesan utuh dari jeroan sampe tetikus-nya menggunakan Dell. Jadi inget jaman kuliah dulu, bahkan sampai sekarang jika ingin beli komputer, tiap-tiap jeroan yang digunakan jarang sekali satu merk.

Motherboard merk X, monitor merk Y, CPU merk Z dan lainnya. Kembali kepada permasalahan komputer saya tersebut, dan ternyata setelah di-opname dua hari, masalah sering restart tiba-tiba sampai saat ini belum muncul. Jadi kesimpulan sementara, masalah -bukan pada hardware. Selama di-opname, komputer saya dibedah alias diformat ulang dan kemudian diupdate dengan Service Pack 1. Sistem operasi teteeeeppp Windows Vista. Nahhhh, kira-kira bagaimana jika saya ambil kesimpulan sementara yang kedua bahwa masalah karena belum diupdate Service Pack 1???

Sebenarnya sebab musabab dari permasalahan komputer sering restart karena banyak factor, tapi yang lebih banyak saya bicarakan adalah kecepatan dari perbaikan komputer. Jika memang benar penyembuhan dari ‘sakit’ sering restart tiba-tiba adalah dengan update Service Pack 1, alangkah nyamannya jika user diberi akses untuk update sendiri tanpa harus menunggu komputer di’opname’ selama dua hari.

Dua hari adalah 16 jam kerja, berarti 16 jam waktu dibuang hanya untuk mendiagnosa penyebab dari sakit komputer. Padahal jika user dapat meng-update sendiri,hanya butuh waktu paling lama 4 jam (menurut si teknisi), dan hal ini dapat dilakukan saat akan pulang kerja. Jadi tidak akan mengganggu jam kerja user karyawan dan bahkan akan meringankan pekerjaan teknisi. Sehingga teknisi dapat mengerjakan pekerjaan yang memang levelnya sudah berat, misal hard disk crash yang membutuhkan recovery.

Hal itu dalam hal perbaikan untuk satu komputer saja, bayangkan jika dalam satu hari ada 15 orang yang mengalami kejadian yang sama (pada umumnya spesifikasi komputer semua user adalah sama). Makin bertambah juga pemborosan jam kerja untuk tiap user. Begitu pun jika ingin melakukan instalasi software original (bukan bajakan lho) harus panggil teknisi terlebih dahulu. Jika user diberi hak akses untuk instalasi, kan gampang tuh, tinggal Next, Next aja. Masa si, satu kantor gak ada yang bisa install software. Untuk hal instalasi memang agak ketat, karena mungkin ada dugaan nantinya user akan menginstal software-software bajakan. Kalau memang hal itu yang dikhawatirkan, kan resiko ditanggung pemilik komputer jadi jika ada apa-apa, berarti pemilik komputer harus bertanggung jawab atas komputer tersebut. Jadi, gimana ni hak akses komputer kantor Anda, restricted atau free atau malah ada jenis hak akses yang lain???

Once again, Microsoft offers the fix to launch a thousand problems. If you see Service Pack 1 coming, take your PC and RUN the other way.

My mother wanted a laptop to check e-mail while away on vacation. While helping her find a deal, I noticed Vista SP1 came standard on everything.

Ten hours later, I’m still trying to get her new Acer Extensa to run Office 2007, Norton 360, and a few games right.

Of course, the biggest snag is Office 2007. It keeps saying “version doesn’t match.” Yesterday I tried to download a 218-MB “Office SP1” update that failed midway.

But hope springs eternal. As I type this, I’m downloading 300 MB of Microsoft updates, praying they’ll fix something.

In my book, Bill Gates stands right behind Bush and Cheney as the world’s most evil influences.

Microsoft’s motto should be “Bend over.” Their products are always so bloated and buggy, they sustain a vast third-party support industry that troubleshoots, works around, and documents their infinite deficiencies.

And now after bilking the world out of billions of dollars – partially our own fault because we let his inferior, execrable operating systems become the “standard” – Gates has turned philanthropic.

I hope he’s establishing a large foundation to rehabilitate the hapless souls being driven mad trying to get a Vista PC up and running.

I endured similar agony last August without SP1 when I replaced my own desktop system and laptop. Switching from XP to Vista meant rebuying every software application. Some that were supposedly “Vista-ready” still don’t work right.

And now that I’ve seen Vista’s first major “fix,” I know my next computer will be a Mac.

Vista however has also started to do other really crazy/annoying things.. The compute window.. it groups things by drive type, and with the computer drives it very helpfully had a little green bar that showed you how much space you'd used/had free. Or at least that's what its SUPPOSED to look like (see example here). I really appreciated it too. But now... now mine looks like this:

Can you see that?? Its grouped them alphabetically!! I mean WHAT?! And don't any of you dare tell me that I can change it back to sorting by Type by right clicking and selecting the sort by. I will have you know I've done that TWICE, and yet after a restart or two it REVERTS BACK to this alphabetical sorting..... Not to mention that I have no idea how to get those nice computer icons back with the green bars to tell me how much damned hard drive space I've used. I really appreciated those!

I also ran out of black printer ink on Saturday, I had to use my dads printer.. which was almost out of black ink too, so it should be fun getting the rest of my lecture notes printed off from which to revise from.

Oh well.. at least I've actually managed to fix one issue! Dany wasn't going into standby mode after having the screen saver on for 10 mins, but I updated the graphics driver on Sunday and that seems to have fixed it. I also discovered that because I have a NVIDIA card I was entitled to a couple of free stuff chapters so a demo Peggle, the first few levels of Portal, and some HL2 chapter things. Neat! I may have to invest in Portal now... it was fun. :)

I also have a few suspicions that it MAY have been this graphics driver issue that was preventing SP1 from installing.. but like I said I'll try to install it again after my exams. In fact I need to go revise, I have another one at 6pm today. The fun never ends(!)

Depois de um ano do lançamento do Windows Vista, a Microsoft liberou seu primeiro (e esperado) “pacote de serviços” (“Service Pack 1”, ou SP1). E um bocado de gente já o instalou.

O curioso é que a maioria dos comentários sobre o assunto é mais ou menos semelhante: pessoas que reclamam ter instalado o SP1 “e não ter notado qualquer mudança na operação de Vista”. Mas será que deveriam ter notado? Afinal, trata-se de um “pacote de serviços”. E que mudanças se deve esperar após a instalação de um “pacote de serviços"?

A Microsoft incorporou ao Vista três poderosas ferramentas de análise do comportamento das máquinas de seus clientes. São elas o CEIP (Customer Experience Improvement Program, ou programa de aprimoramento da experiência do usuário), a OCA (Online Crash Analysis, ou análise em tempo real de travamentos do sistema) e o WER (Windows Error Reporting, ou notificações de erros do Windows).

Sempre que ocorre um erro de Windows ou de um de seus aplicativos, ou quando o sistema trava ou ainda quando o usuário experimenta alguma dificuldade em sua utilização, informações sobre a natureza do problema e o estado da máquina no momento da ocorrência são registradas e enviadas à MS. Os programas são de adesão voluntária, ou seja, ninguém é obrigado a participar deles. E as informações coletadas e enviadas à MS são anônimas.

O objetivo é detectar dificuldades experimentadas pelos usuários na operação do sistema, falhas mais comuns e eventuais incompatibilidades ou erros nas rotinas internas, para se munir de dados que serão usados para evitar que elas voltem a ocorrer. E, embora um significativo número de usuários se recuse a aderir a tais programas, o número dos que aderiram foi suficiente para gerar um formidável banco de dados, que ajuda a MS a determinar quais aplicativos são mais susceptíveis a falhas, em que circunstâncias elas ocorreram e por quais razões.

O banco de dados é vasculhado por uma equipe de técnicos em busca das principais causas de problemas que afetam a estabilidade, confiabilidade e segurança do sistema. Parte destas análises resulta nas “atualizações de segurança” que a Microsoft distribui regularmente. Parte dá origem a alterações nas rotinas de processamento interno que vão sendo acumuladas para serem liberadas, em conjunto, na devida ocasião. E a ocasião é a liberação dos chamados “pacotes de serviços”. Que servem, justamente, para consolidar as correções de erros, falhas de segurança e eventuais incompatibilidades detectadas ao longo de certo tempo de uso do sistema operacional. Em suma: aumentar a confiabilidade.

Mas estas não são as únicas alterações incluídas nos pacotes de serviços. Algumas visam, melhorar o desempenho do sistema. E outras oferecer suporte a novos dispositivos de hardware e padrões de software desenvolvidos após o lançamento do Sistema Operacional (por exemplo: no Vista SP1 foi incluído suporte ao novo padrão 802.11n de rede sem fio e a novos dispositivos de armazenamento portáteis).

O problema é que nenhuma das alterações é concebida para ser aparente. A correção de problemas, por exemplo, só é notada pela minoria que experimentou a ocorrência daquele tipo específico de problemas. O suporte a novos padrões de software e hardware só é percebido por aqueles que adquiriram produtos até então não suportados. E as atualizações de segurança visam tão somente a aumentar a proteção do sistema. Portanto, nada mais natural que instalar um pacote de serviços e não notar qualquer diferença na operação do sistema. Afinal ele visa principalmente a corrigir erros e aumentar a estabilidade.

Se você usa o Vista e se as atualizações automáticas estão ativadas, em breve elas lhe oferecerão a instalação do SP1. Sugiro que aceite. E, se instalar e não notar qualquer diferença, tanto melhor. Sinal que seu sistema não padecia dos problemas que o SP1 corrige.

There are also dozens of exciting enhancements, such as full RTL support in WebScheduler as mentioned in Erika's post and significantly updated WebScheduler documentation. We also included the large data enhancement for WebGrid and ISDataSource in this Service Pack 1.

Se state sperando di installare il service pack 1 di Vista oppure il service pack 3 di XP dovete aspettare ancora un po. Microsoft ha sospeso il download di entrambi i service pack dopo aver scoperto altri problemi di compatibilità. Secondo TechTree ci sarebbe un problema di compatibilità con il Microsoft Dynamics Retail Managment System, utilizzato principalmente da piccole e media aziende.

Comunque è ancora possibile scaricare in rete questi service pack da fonti diverse, cosa che vi sconsiglio. Aspettate il prossimo rilascio ufficiale da parte della Microsoft, per non rischiare di formattare il sitema ;-).
