Some paintings I enjoyed :)

I was wondering what is so special about this short film and checked it out. This is a romantic story about a boy and a girl who both had difficulty with their past relationships and a "divine" intervention that helps them succeed. The film consists of two parts each depicting the same story, but from a different point of view. Production I.G described the plot as “a pure love story, colorful and sweet, yet a bit bitter, just like a piece of chocolate.”

I liked the story, but I especially enjoyed the artwork. Unlike many shiny anime today, it was drawn with soft colors and it looked like an animated manga :) I also liked a few sequences that displayed the emotions of the characters.

Ferenc Cakò è un animatore ungherese, e al Sicaf (festival di animazione di Seoul) del 2003 offre alla platea una esibizione di sand art, nient'altro (si fa per dire) che animazione con la sabbia. Su uno schermo illuminato, le mani dell'artista disegnano di volta in volta figure di verse, utilizzando pochi tratti dell'una per generare la successiva, in una galleria di soggetti che vogliono rievocare diverse concezioni e momenti del mito della creazione.

Fa uno strano effetto rivedere un pò di clamore per un animatore magiaro, erede di una scuola che nel secondo dopoguerra è stata tra le più fiorenti d' Europa, se non del mondo. "Chiusa" in una produzione votata al folklore e alla propria tradizione, storia e costumi, l' Ungheria ha quindi trovato difficoltà ad affermarsi presso un pubblico più ampio di quello nazionale.

Fa piacere che almeno in contesti più istituzionali il peso culturale di questo paese sia tenuto ancora nella dovuta considerazione.
