• I was told: never write anything emotional or sensitive down, because you never know when it is going to come back to haunt you or hurt you, always talk face to face if you have something to say. Because people take things out of context. And never, ever keep a diary.
• I'm a bad speller. I have a hard time typing my name sometimes.
• I love beer, but hate the people who drink and or attempt to celebrate it.
• Oh, and never put periods at th end of bullet points. crap.

I am not a blog aficionado by any means: in fact, I've been taught to reject the writing of such personal words, because I was told it was a mistake to do so. It was abhorrent to our household. A safety issue. So I write this blog with some trepidation; this 'thing' is about my feelings. MINE. Not any one elses. Yes, I care about your feelings on the subject, but you can go write your own blog about it, this is mine.

So, about the beer: I volunteered a a local brew festival and it was horrible. I love the idea of being able to celebrate a wonderful, delicious beverage in a joyous atmosphere. However, frat boys and slutty girls can ruin such a celebration very quickly. I spent most of my 5 hour shift on my feet, without breaks, with other volunteers who were too cool to be there and too cool to obey the liqueur laws that were beaten into our heads.

There were no smiles, no laughter, no fun to be had by any of the crew I was working with. Not only that but being stuck on the end, I had the security staff and the supervisors standing over me. It got to the point that every time someone started to scream that I had either not given them enough, or that they had the wrong number of tokens that they could not figure out, I just found the supervisor (usually standing somewhere behind me) to grant permission. But then I was a bitch. Right. I'm a bitch because I want to SERVE YOU BEER. In fact, I VOLUNTEERED to serve you BEER. FUCK YOU.

But perhaps it was me, the night and the crew I was working with that made it so exhausting. You really never know when it may be a fluke thing. I may or may not do it again next year, to test this theory. But most likely NOT.

On loss: I have had a horrible 8 months. It's been one loss after the other. Vicious lows to my ego, death, friends who only seem to care about thier own lives to give a damn, disruption, and an overload of work and school. I will not lie about this: I'm a mess. A scrambled, about to be medicated - (we'll get to that later)- mess. Hence the venting of my feelings here. I need this open air. I need the space and freedom that I don't have in real life, so here I am. This is my blog.

More accurately, it's finals time. I spent Tuesday getting photocopies over town (100 pesos worth!!!) for my UBA history final, and now the task at hand is a political economy of Argentina take home final. I'm nearly done but it's a little slow coming during the end. I can't believe that all of this work has to be done in the next 13 days. Then on the 19th I'm back to the US-- we're getting to the end of the adventure, folks. I can't believe it's been five months.

People keep asking, are you ready to go home? Are you going to miss it?

It's really an answer in the middle for me-- I'm not leaving on the 11th, like some people in the program who are a bit homesick and are changing their flights, but I'm glad I'm not sticking around and traveling for another few weeks. I LOVE this city and I hope I have the opportunity to spend time here in the future, but I'm also excited about what the coming year has to offer me. And what's that, you might ask?

After three fun weeks of Oregon summer I'll be heading back to Georgetown for RA training. I'll be living in a freshman dorm, taking a fun class schedule, enjoying the friendships that have formed over the past two years, and working in UG, the little coffee shop in the middle of campus. Life will be good. It'll be fall in DC, there will be pumpkins, brunch, the Eastern Market-- there will be parties, and boys, and coffee. There will be homework and reading and extensions on papers because sitting and talking with friends was more appealing than getting the paper done. Hopefully there will be a real Christmas tree in Tiggy's Henly apartment, a little bit of snow on the ground, and a not too stressful finals season.

Buenos Aires has been good to me-- it's helped me figure out more clearly who I am, but at the same time, it's made me realize that I'm happy with who that person is-- who I am, who I'm becoming. It's a process and this has been an essential step, but it is by no means the only step and certainly not an isolated step either.

Friendships abroad are a little tricky-- shaky because even though everyone abroad wants to have friends and get to know the people in the program, it's not why we're here. We're here to travel, to get to know the city, to work on our foreign language skills, and to soak up another culture. When I pack my bags in two weeks I know I'll only be unpacking them in Oregon for a 21 day period-- then in DC I'll only have a year.

Then who knows. Eventually I'll be unpacking and putting the suitcase in the closet, not sure when I'll pull it out again. Buenos Aires has been a great adventure. But it isn't the only adventure I have ahead of me.

And that's exciting.

I will begin my (our) journey in my next writing. You will not understand right away. I myself do not understand or can believe the events that are yet to occur.

I need you and all who are my readers to be my strength.

First I want to explain how I write. The simple fact is that I am not a writer, so do not hold this against me. I will try my best.

Second, I will tie much of my feelings, thoughts, emotions and daily happenings through songs.

I will intertwine my reality with songs so that you may relate to my world. These songs are very specific and I have been chosen them for a very SPECIFIC reason. LISTEN as they will speak louder than I. They will be your guide and my release. Remember the words are the key, not necessary the visuals. But, other elements may be just important from dates (TIME) of the work, the titles to where the music originated.

Put the pieces together and you will know the truth. I can only guide you as I must learn from you too.

National Right to Life even had the gall to say that it is "grateful" for John McCain's "strong pro-life" record. What balderdash! McCain has repeatedly voted to spend Title X tax dollars to underwrite the nation's largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood. He publicly supports killing unborn babies conceived via rape or incest. And he continues to lie to the American people about killing babies "to save the life of the mother," which almost any OB/GYN doctor will tell you almost NEVER occurs. According to the OB/GYN physicians that I have spoken to, the only pregnancies that pose a legitimate health risk to the mother are those where the unborn baby has already perished. ...

The closest movement to reclaiming America's freedom and independence was the recent Presidential campaign of Congressman Ron Paul. With Congressman Paul effectively neutered and neutralized (by a hostile media and mercenary Republican hierarchy), the only hope is in America's churches and a burgeoning independent movement.

I only wish I could expect today's pastors and churches to stand in the gap for our nation. They have the power to thwart the forces of globalism, corporatism, elitism, and liberalism that are destroying America. So far, however, this has been nothing but wishful fantasy. Most of our beloved Christian leaders are as beholden to the same Republican donors as are the previously mentioned conservative organizations. And just as impotent.

"A Yes, Not a No" has the look and feel of an intro song with the short length and heavy chorus focus yet the song holds its own and is an amazing opening track. The piano riff is a catchy foundation that the song rides beautifully.

There doesn't need to be a lot of words said about the similarities between This Holiday Life and Switchfoot but there are a few common threads and patterns that just stick out. The laid back rock sound along with strong, deep, male vocals almost mimics that of Switchfoot front man Jon Foreman. The second thing that seems interesting is the similar patterns of album releases. The three albums leading up to 'A Beautiful Let Down' were ear catching but 'A Beautiful Let Down' was pretty definitively Switchfoot's breakout album. While these This Holiday Life's two album are ear catching, I think they are still looking for their big breakout album, and unlike Swithcfoot I think theirs will come sooner than the 4th album.

'Friction' was an amazing start and 'The Beginning Of The End...' is a nice step forward and progression of the band's style. "Friendly Fire" is an example of the witty, and intelligent lyrics that the album contains. "Motivation" leaps out of the gate with vocals leading the charge head first into a sea of melody and rhythm. The song [which was chosen for the music video] demonstrates the band's ability to grab your attention and keep you coming back for more.

I honestly have a hard time thinking of another album that the instruments are so defined and distinct. The piano is present through out the record but has several key times of carrying the song such as mentioned in the opening track. "Motivation" is stand out song for the rich, and full bass sound which is a staple in the type of rock the band plays. The steady rock beat of the drums is also a defining characteristic of the bands overall style which would be sorely missed if not present.

"O Sister Please" comes at the albums end with a bit folksier sound than is common for the band but a welcome song to split the two ballad-ish songs. Overall the experience and journey is one that will leave you wanting to go back and do it again, which is about all you can ask for. I do still think that this isn't the best the band has in them though and the cup full of potential has yet to be tipped over.

El 31 de enero empezó la cuarta temporada de Lost, y a mi, como fanático (me puedo considerar uno) me encantaron los por ahora tres capítulos que salieron: The Beginning Of The End, Confirmed Dead y The Economist. Mi muy resumido resumen del resumen de los capitulos.

En estos tres capitulos nos presentan a muchos personajes nuevos: Mathew Abbadon, un raro con los ojos inyectados en sangre que tortura psicologicamente a Hurley y manda a los Otros Volumen II a la Isla. Daniel Faraday, un físico que llora al ver que el avión fue encontrado; Frank Lapidus, un piloto que dice que el piloto del 815 encontrado no es real; Charlotte Lewis, una arqueologa que encuentra un oso polar de Dharma en el medio de un desierto de Túnez y sonríe al ver el brazalete de la estación Hidra; Miles Straume, un medium violento y extraño, Minkowski, que no le vimos la cara pero sabemos que esta en el carguero.

Tambien nos ponen dos flashworwards: 4x01 de Hurley, que ve a Charlie que le dice que "ellos" (¿quienes?!) nececitan su ayuda, con Jack que lo visitó en el manicomio para ver si "iba a decir" no se que cosa de la isla y Hurley le dice que "el" quiere que vuelvan. Muchas preguntas por responder.  Despues esta Sayid, que ahora mata gente por encargo de... ¡¿Ben?! Si, señor. No sabemos a quien esta matando, yo creo que a gente de Dharma, o algo así, enemigos de Ben y de la Isla.

En la isla los losties se dividieron en dos, por un lado el jefe es Locke y por el otro, naturalmente, Jack. Hay una diferencia de 31 minutos  entre el exterior y el interior de la isla. Eso me impacto sobremanera. El experimento de Faraday fue increíble. Despues, Sayid salió de la isla, el primer lostie que hace eso, pero es seguro que va a volver. Los Otros II estan buscando a Ben, no se sabe para qué.

Bueno, esto es lo que me parece mas importante (si me acuerdo de mas cosas nítidas las voy a agregar) y lo que mas me acuerdo. Ahora hay que esperar a ver Eggtown, que dicen que va a estar increíble.

PD: Aprovecho para avisar que voy a empezar una seccion o tal vez un blog nuevo, voy a pensarlo, totalmente dedicado/a a Lost, y recomiendo unas páginas muy buenas sobre Lost: los6deoceanic (los seis mejores momentos de los capitulos), Lostzilla, DarkUFO (en ingles), LostPedia (La enciclopedia de Lost).

Dalle ultime news inoltre il Produttore esecutivo Carlton Cuse ha detto che ci saranno altre 5 puntate nella quarta serie al di là delle 8 già previste. 13 puntate di una quarta serie che si preannuncia memorabile...

Dopo una prima puntata deludente, la seconda e la terza sono davvero splendide.In crescendo.La trama si infittisce di nuovo e il futuro dei sopravvissuti è sempre più oscuro. Cosa ci riserverà l'isola? Avremmo risposte ad ogni nostro interrogativo? 

Se il buongiorno si vede dal mattino... 

¡Por fin! Tras meses y meses de tensa espera ya he visto el comienzo de la 4ª temporada de LOST. Como no le quiero destripar nada a quien aún no la haya visto, simplemente diré que me parece que la han cagado un tanto con el último trailer antes del estreno. Sabiendo lo que se dice en él, le quitan toda bastante la gracia a la season premiere. Ha sido la primera vez en cuatro temporadas que no he sentido la más mínima sorpresa con el primer espisodio, ni siquiera en la intro previa a las letras. He añorado bastante el inicio de la segunda.

De todas formas, ya me estoy mordiendo los muñones a la espera del 4x02. Menos mal que queda algo menos de una semana... Me da que ese episodio va a ser bastante más epatante. Espero que me vayáis diciendo qué os ha parecido el estreno. Salvo ese detalle que os he dicho antes, me ha encantado.

Dicho de otra forma: Como season premiere, algo flojo. Como episodio de Lost (y encima tras tanto tiempo), grande.

One of the things that struck me about that statement from Hurley was that he was referring to the island wanting them to come back.  So far the Others and Locke are the only ones to refer the island (or perhaps Island) as an entity or in terms outside the show, a character.  And I think that's one of the things that's becoming more clear as the series continues.  It's possible that all these weird occurrences like polar bears, a smoke monster, characters like Jacob and Mikhail (who seems impossible to kill) aren't unconnected, randomly weird events that happen to occur on this island that no one can find.  Instead, it seems completely possible and even likely the Island itself is an character, an entity that controls all these things.  Perhaps Jacob himself is the physical manifestation of the Island.  Maybe Mikhail is his prophet.  But I digress.

The appearance of Charlie (who was dead but "still here") was one of the events that in connection with Hurley's quote pushed me further towards the idea of the island being a character.  It also seems to imply, as Hurley alludes to, that the Island is able to affect events in "our world" or outside the island itself, at least to people who have been there.  It's willing to do whatever it takes to get them back.  Charlie's appearance and the illusion of water in the interrogation room seem to be a way of the Island communicating with Hurley.

And of course as any good LOST episode does, especially a season premiere, those aren't the only questions left for us to chew on until next week and so forth.  There are still questions left over from last season that will I'm sure take the entire season and more to answer like why those who left need to get back.  Who are the people on the boat really?  And who are the remaining three of the "Oceanic 6"?  Finally, now that another character has been revealed who returned from the island, I can't help but really, really hope that it wasn't Hurley in the casket at the end of Season 3.  Thankfully, the Island made a good casting move and decided it didn't want to let Dominic Monaghan leave the show yet.  Bless you Island!  Bless you!

Lost is a United States serial drama television series that follows the lives of plane crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, after a passenger jet flying between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, United States crashes somewhere in the South Pacific. Each episode typically features a primary storyline on the island as well as a secondary storyline from another point in a character’s life. The show was created by Damon Lindelof, J. J. Abrams and Jeffrey Lieber, and is filmed primarily on location in Oahu, Hawaii. The pilot episode was first broadcast on September 22, 2004. Since then, three seasons have aired. Warning: Spoilers ahead.

As a lot of other viewers, I was hotly anticipating the new season of Lost. However, since the WGA strike, I thought that they would simply choose to cancel the season, since with only 8 episodes shot and produced, fans would be disappointed. I think that possibly ABC might choose to produce the rest of the season this year and air it. Some of the networks will air shows during the summer. This is possible for Lost.

I found the season premiere interesting. It was fun to see all of the characters once again. The repercussions of what happened at the end of last season aren't still apparent. There are still a few surprises along the way.

This episode centers around Hurley and the fallback of the visit to the underwater jamming bunker of the Others. Charlie is dead and all of the characters have to deal with this fact. What is most disturbing to them is that with his dying breath, Charlie tried to warn Desmond that the freighter that was trying to find them wasn't Penny's boat, but another altogether.

This means that Naomi has been lying to them. The flashforwards paint a strange picture of what happened to the losties and who made it off the island alive. I'm not going to mention any names, since no real names except those of Hurley and Jack have been mentioned, however they do mention the number.

Ben is also adamant that the losties shouldn't contact the people on the boat. Will another faction get involved in the fight for the island. Maybe the Dharma Initiative is coming back in force.

It’s been widely reported that this season of Lost will feature flashbacks and flashforwards. The show starts out with a flashforward.

A pile of fruit is in a mound. A muscle car squashes them. It’s pursued by cop cars.

Someone watches the chase on the TV. He’s making himself a drink. It’s Jack. Jack knows who is in this bar. He swears. The driver is apprehended. It’s Hugo. He tries to run away and they tackle him. He screams that he is with the Oceanic 6. Does that mean that only six people survived the island?

The detective is questioning Hugo. He shows Hugo footage of when he started running. He saw someone in a convenience store who freaked him out. The detective tells him about Ana-Lucia Cortez, his old partner. Hugo says that he never met her. Naturally he's lying.

Hugo imagines that someone is breaking the interrogation glass. The water is flowing into the room and he thinks that he is going to drown. He screams for help. The detective threatens him with the nut house and Hugo thanks him profusely.

Back in the present, Hugo and Jack are talking over the walkie-talkie. Kate and Jack talk about Locke. He killed Naomi a few moments ago and did a vanishing act. Kate can't find him. Jack says that if Locke comes back, he will kill him.
Ben asks Rousseau to take Alex and get as far as possible from here. He tells her that everyone who stays here will die.

He doesn't want his daughter to die. Rousseau hits him and tells him that Alex isn’t his daughter.

Hugo tells Bernard that all of his money will be gone. He will be most happy.

Desmond arrives and tells Sawyer that Jack can't get in contact with the boat. Desmond says that the people on the boat aren’t who they say they are. Naomi lied. Desmond tells Hugo that Charlie is dead.

Jack gets a call from George. He wants to set the settings on his sat phone. Jack says that she’s gone to get some firewood. Jack notices that Naomi is gone. He asks Ben about it. Ben doesn't say anything.

The people at the beach are having an argument. Sawyer wants to radio Jack to tell him about the people on the boat, but Sayid says that they are no doubt monitoring the radio waves. That would not be safe. Sawyer is about to make the call, but Hugo throws the radio into the water. Charlie had written that they shouldn’t contact the boat on his hand before drowning.

Rousseau says that they need to move away. The trail was filled with blood. Naomi isn’t dead. She’s still alive. Jack and Rousseau plan on finding her. Kate will lead the others back to the beach.
At the beach, the players are getting their weapons.

In the next flashforward, Hugo is in the nut house. He takes his meds. Matthew Abbadon is waiting for him. He’s an attorney for Oceanic airlines. He offers him an upgrade to a modern facility. Hugo asks him for his business card. He says that he forgot them at home. The man becomes cryptic. He asks Hugo if they are still alive. Hugo freaks out and the nurses have to calm him down.

Hugo loses the others. He ends up near the haunted shack and hears strange voices.

Rousseau says that the blood trails ends. Ben tells Jack that Kate took the sat phone when she hugged him. Kate found the right trail and took matters into her own hands. They double back.

We see Kate looking for Naomi. The phone rings. She wonders if she should answer it. She does so. The caller wonders where Naomi is. Kate says that she doesn't know and hangs up. She gets jumped by Naomi who puts a knife to her throat. Kate convinces Naomi that they had no part in the attack. The phone rings again and Naomi talks with George. She changes her tracking frequency so that they can find her. She says that she hit a branch when she parachuted down. She says to tell her sister that she is sorry.

Hurley looks through the window of the shack and sees someone rocking in a chair. Another man comes forward and looks through the hole in the window. Hurley runs away. He tries to convince himself that nothing is there. Locke finds him.

“Not Penny’s boat”

Hugo and Locke talk about it. Locke wants to make sure that they won't contact the boat again. Locke comes with Hugo to join with the others.

Everyone meets up except Jack, Rousseau and Ben. Hugo tells Claire that Charlie is dead.

In the future, Hugo is painting. Another inmate tells him that someone is waiting for him. Hugo sees Charlie coming toward him. Hugo ran away from Charlie. Charlie slaps him to prove to Hugo that he is really here. Charlie asks him to do something. Charlie keeps telling him that they need him. Hugo closes his ears and counts to five. Charlie is gone. He wasn’t really there.

Jack arrives and punches Locke in the face. Locke is disarmed. Jack is pointing a gun at Locke’s face. Jack pulls the trigger but the gun wasn’t loaded. The others pull Jack off Locke.

Kate comes back and tells them that Naomi is really dead. Locke says that he is going to the barracks of the Others. Hugo says that he isn’t listening to Jack. He’s listening to Charlie and going with Locke. Claire, Rousseau, Alex, Ben and a few others go with Locke. Sawyer goes as well.

In the future, Hugo is playing hoops in his PJs. Jack comes by to see him. Hugo says that he is sorry he went with Locke. He should have stayed with Jack. He says that they didn’t do the right thing. Hurley accuses Jack of ulterior motives: checking to make certain he doesn't reveal their secrets. Hurley suggests that they need to go back to the island. He says that it wants us to come back. Jack screams that they are never going back. Hurley retorts, never say never.

Kate and Jack hear a helicopter. It drops off a parachutist. Jack and Kate run towards it. It’s a bearded man in his mid thirties. “Are you Jack?” he asks.

The man who arrives at the end is named Daniel Faraday.
