However, when we posted our story, we heard from users that Tom’s Hardware, a site we admire a great deal, recently published an article which claims that SSDs use more power than traditional hard drives. The Tom’s Hardware story got some major attention from sites like Engadget and even got a responses from SSD-makers Super Talent and Micron, who both claim that the drives used in the Tom’s test are “early generation” and therefore more power hungry than newer models.

Right now I’m sitting in LAX waiting on a flight to Dallas Texas.  It’s 11:53 and I wont be boarding until 1:05.  I have a headache.  I’m uncomfortable in my own body.  Why in the world did I choose to take the “red-eye”?  

I’ve been here in Los Angeles for a full month now.  It’s incredible.  It’s different.  It’s a breath of fresh/smog-filled air.  This is a new chapter in the amazingly complex book called “My Life”.  I’ve recently moved from Houston Texas to Santa Monica California.  Wow, what a difference.  I think it was only two days after me being here that I sighed a HUGE sigh of relief and said out loud, “this is home.”  

Please, let me say right up front that I loved Houston.  For the last five years Texas has been amazing to me.  While in Houston I've been a student pastor (what were they thinking?) I made some amazing friends in Lake Jackson. I fell in love with crawfish! I spent several nights in the hospitals (that was a first for me.) I became a member at the most awesome church in the world, Life Tabernacle. I worked as a teacher (again, what were they thinking?) I directed/produced two incredible dramas. I hopefully helped a few students to see how talented they were. I became good friends with the world's best pastor, Jim Kilgore. I fell in love with someone that some would say I shouldn’t have, but nevertheless I don't regret it for a second. I started my own business that has been incredibly successful. I was a creative director at the most awesome church. I became best friends with a beautiful beautiful girl, Andrea King. I became incredible friends with Darryl Hooper, and amazing pastor in The Woodlands.  I had the privilege of attending  Northstar Church for a while.  I made friendships that I'm sure will stay with me until the end of my days. I fell in love with downtown Houston...

I think most importantly in my time in Texas, I have found out a lot about myself. I have discovered who Carlos is. I also found that I'm very happy with who Carlos is.  I have learned so much about myself I probably could devote an entire blog solely on that subject.  (Don’t worry, I don’t plan to!)  

So now I’m here in LAX, listening to the strokes, trying to ignore the odor perturbing from the person sitting next to me.  I’m about to take my first business trip for my new heaven-sent job.  I’m thrilled, yet at the same time not excited about having to sleep on a plane tonight.  

So this will be my attempt at blogging - we shall see what comes of it.

Yeppers, 29 today. It's been fun! We had such a special service this morning with it being Family Worship Sunday. At River that means we incorporate many of the students in playing/reading/singing/etc. all throughout the service. I had a high schooler on bass, percussion, and as our singers. I had middle schoolers dancing to the 1st 2 songs because we played Tell the World and Everyday which are 2 songs we do at our RiverKidStuf service (akin to Northpoint's KidStuf.) I had a high schooler read today's passage before the message and we had a guest drummer, the wonderfully talented and incredible Mr. G of Baton Rouge Music Studios who just happens to be a bunch of our students' teacher at Dunham and at BRMS. It was very fitting seeing how my transition to full time Youth Director is happening this summer! This all happening on my birthday was very appropriate.

My wife and family have been great! So far I've got 2 tickets to John Mayer at the Woodlands, a TOMS shirt and shoes, and the best flippin' card from my 2 year old I could ask for :) An incredible lunch with my high schoolers complete with granpa teeth, a blue ribbon that reads "Birthday Boy," a cake hat, and a card full of old man jokes and innuendos!

The kiddos are asleep and Rae says I need to be "ready to go" by 5:15! I'M SO EXCITED! I love surprises :)
