Here's the new chapter of Drutchas 2.0, moving on beyond the simpler social world of Facebook to the wild west of the web's ideas. My name is Griffin Vernor Drutchas and I'd like to welcome myself to the blogosphere. Over the next few months I plan on using this blog space as a repository for ideas and progress notes on my Kalamazoo College Senior Individualized Project (SIP): tentatively titled, 'UniScape: An Agent-Based Model of the College Admissions System.' Its primary focus will be to replicate on a small scale the income-divide effect of the higher education system's current dichotomy: rising tuition and shrinking financial aid.

As I find free time when I am not working for PROGNOZ, I will post information regarding the project and improve the structure of my blog in the hope that my ideas can be criticized and discussed by fellow students, professors, and researchers in complex systems, education, computer science, mathematics, and the social sciences. I look forward to networking and sharing ideas with all of you.

Uniscape.it è un esempio di social network (cioè un insieme di persone, che possono anche non conoscersi, connesse tra loro sulla base di legami sociali, rapporti di lavoro, amicizia, casualità ), che si rivolge a studenti universitari, ricercatori e professori e permette loro di comunicare. E' un'interfaccia virtuale per il mondo universitario che si propone di offrire nuove possibilità di relazione.

L'offerta dei servizi è molto ampia, spazia dalla possibilità di comunicare attraverso messaggi istantanei, chatt, gruppi di discussione, condividere la propria auto, foto, video, costruire la propria pagina personale, organizzare eventi, creare il proprio wiki.

A me pare una cosa veramente utile, voi che ne pensate?
