the bloody vet did not turn up again today.  that's 2 days running.  git!  what is the point in saying you are going to do something then not doing it?  surely it is easier all round if you just don't say it in the first place.  and it is not as if we are talking about an arrangement to have a casual cup of coffee.  this is the health and well-being of a lovely little dog who is presently being forced to lie on a bed all day wrapped from neck to knob and shoulder to toe in bandages.  poor sod.  he looks like the one that got away from that man in utah.  (almost gratuitous experiment with links) look:

it was after one of these loo-based jaunts that i discovered him sniping across the floor into the kitchen.  i suppose it was more like swimming than sniping.  but at least i knew then that his back legs were not paralysed.  which is good.  and his tail was wagging like mad - in delight or propulsion, who knows.  mind you, i had given him a morphine injection earlier, so he was probably as high as a kite.

however, i do have other animals to tend to.  i now find myself papoosing him in blankets then sprinting to complete normally laid-back tasks in a bid to get back before he has houdini'd his way out.

then in the early hours of yesterday morning he stood up by himself.  he fell right back down again and i had to superman-hurl myself across the room in a sort of gentle rugby tackle so he did not hurt himself on the tile floor.  it was just as well i was hindered by the duvet i was tangled up in or i could have done a typical ellie thing and over done it.  but he's good.

he's pooing and weeing and scooting about the floor - not all together i hasten to add.  he's doing his business outside.  i have to pick him up without bending his spine, carry him outside then support him while he's teetering on his toes.  i am aware that this probably sounds pointless now considering his attempts at ballet and calisthenics every hour on the hour but i don't want to add to any injury.  it's like looking after a 2 year old child.  actually, it's probably ok to bend children when you take them to the loo - girls anyway.  boys would wee on their knees if you did it to them.

Tang Wee Sung, whose Tangs department store sits in the prime Orchard Road tourist and shopping belt, pleaded guilty to entering an illegal arrangement to purchase a kidney, 938Live reported.

He also pleaded guilty to falsely declaring that the donor was a distant relative, it said.

A court official reached by AFP could not confirm the pleas because the hearing was continuing.

Tang could receive up to three years in jail and a fine on the most serious charge of the false declaration, the radio report said.

This week, the hubby was assigned a dangerous mission!  In fact, mission impossible.  One I thought he might fail.  Miserably.  But, he managed to pull it off with his quick wit and master at hand!

What was the mission, you ask? 

To purchase a Wii for his son's 9th birthday.

As per usual, the man left it till the last minute, believing that all the main stores would magically have several of the most sought after gaming console ON THE PLANET in stock!  Let's just say, procrastination is his middle name!  He called me late from work telling me that he was dutifully on his way to Targetbestbuytoyruscircuitcityradioshackwalmartsamsclubcostco to find said pressie.  "Good luck" was all I could muster advising him to please pick up the much coveted Metroid game so at least the birthday boy would have an idea of what was to come should we have to order the Wii online.  *shudder*

Five minutes later, he called me to say he had decided to call all the stores he planned on visiting to not waste any more time, but that none of them had the console in stock. 

Really?  No shit, Sherlock!

Wherefore art thou Wii?

He decided he was going to see his buddy at the Electronics Boutique store in the mall to see what he could find out because at this point he wanted to know what the hell Nintendo were thinking.  What was their marketing plan?  Where were all the frigging Wiis?

Ten minutes later, he had his answer and was proudly on his way to pick up a Wii that was being held for him in a different EB store not too far from home!  And, so smug was he!

The answer?  Basically, the weak dollar.  Yes, Nintendo decided that if they sent the majority of their stock overseas to Europe and Australasia that they would get more for their money and by keeping the Wii's supply low in the USA would in turn keep it in demand and thus, a win win for the company.  I really didn't care about the economics of the situation as I was just too happy that DH had pulled it off and got Cameron his Wii!

And, being the big kid my hubby is, he wanted to immediately give it to the birthday boy instead of waiting till today.  As always, I relented and was the birthday boy happy?  I had kept teasing him that I had no idea what this Wii was that he wanted and that I thought he meant he just needed to go wee!  I would literally go point out a toilet every time the birthday boy asked for a Wii.  Annoying, yes, but oh so much fun for the momma!

I crept upstairs to read and surf the net in peace while the boys stayed up till the wee hours playing on the Wii.

Hoje eu fui fazer comprinhas e passear por uma daquelas lojas imeeeensas com coisitchas para casa, desde móveis até latas de tinta. Fato: não consigo comprar nada sozinha num lugar desses. Outro fato: nenhum móvel novo me agrada. Sinto-me atraída especialmente por aqueles móveis estilosos de fazenda, feitos com aquele tipo de madeira que vai estar por aí causando mesmo quando eu tiver 80 anos. Ou seja, não posso ser pobre.

E no sábado, depois de dois anos, irei à uma festa junina. Digo, agostina. E se depender de mim, vai ter quentão, canjica, milho verrrrde e fogueira. Sijoga, Berenice!!

Ya desde el nombre esta banda conmueve. No he sido un re-fan del indie yanqui de los '90, sólo porque en esa época me la pasé más que nada escuchando a los indies de acá, exeptuando a los Breeders o Pavement. Pero de alguna forma un tanto rara, hoy estoy encontrandome con Pixies, Stephen Malkmus (a quien ví en vivo en Unione e Benebolenza), Frank Black, más Breeders, etc. Y aparecen estos pibes. Que son como Morrisey con 15 años, con una chica haciendo hermosos coros, guitarras sucias, pop, lindas baterías electrónicas y sí son muy lindos. Son una de la cosas más under que hay por ahí.
Se formaron en el 2007, son de New York, tienen un EP, un split, y algunos singles para los sellos Cloudberry Records y Slumberland Records. Busquen y escuchen.
