Doing a little blog-surfing today I ran across this fairly new blog, The ZoNation.

Zo describes himself as a "Christian, conservative republican patriot," who has a unique way of getting his message across in youtube format.

*Caution: Mature subject matter!

Addendum: Synopsis

Based on the comments below, a few in the gay community aren't too happy about the Zo's rant. I'll list the complaints from gay commenters along with a breakdown of what Zo appears to be saying in his video.

Gay complaints about this video

The belief that gays are born abnormal

Believes Zo is advocating violence because of his analogy of abnormality of having 11 fingers and to cut of finger to make it a normal ten fingers

Believes homosexuality is a mental illness

Claims that gay woman aren't really gay - just confused

Skin color is natural, being gay is a defect

Tells gays and lesbians to leave God and the black community out of what they are trying to do. A point made by gay commenter that gay marriage is a religious issue

Claims this video is one big attack against the gay community

My response to the above complaints

I agree with number one that gays are abnormal. Another word for abnormal is unnatural, a description that the bible gives for homosexual sex. (Romans 1:26-28)

Zo was not advocating violence at all, but giving an example of "choice" as in the choice to change an abnormality. "We've already established that homosexuality is an abnormality. If a person is born with 11 fingers, it's not normal. So what do you do? You cut it down to 10 fingers. The choice comes in when they realize their sexual behavior is deviant and they say, 'you know what?' I'm going to act on it anyway!" Zo clearly is alluding to "choice" and not physical violence.

The examples he gave of the men and gay sex in the video are examples of men with possible mental illness in the way they went sex. This is after he already said of homosexual people: "We see you as creative people, we see you as resourceful people, we see you as people contributing to the economy." That is not a description of gay people being mentally ill. Again, he used examples of those who may have mental illness but not even in his own words does he believe that about the entire homosexual community.

I myself believe that both homosexual men and women are confused. Men with men as they should be with women and women with women that look like men is to me, a statement of confusion. This is just our opinion.

Zo gave excellent examples on why skin color is natural and not homosexual sex: "What else are you all going to try to use, the time when a black man and a white woman couldn't be married? Well you all, if the law of nature really had a problem with that, then we wouldn't be able to reproduce." ..."But the law of nature doesn't seem to say its okay for two women or two men to get together and have a child together." This doesn't even have to be backed up with bible verses. Its an obvious reality. "My skin color is natural, it's not a defect, it's not an abnormality and it does not articulate my behavior."

Gay marriage IS a religious issue: Zo: "No court no man can bind you to eternity. Only God can bind you for eternity. Our country is founded on the Judeo-Christian ethic. So even if you get married in the court if you want your marriage to be recognized by the state, even if you get married in court, that court is going to have you married under the sanctity of God.

This video may be a little harsh, but it speaks the truth.

IF the thought of a drug dealer whos been shot twice in the stomach and blown up by ninjas in a barn full of weed, goin out for the eggs and homefries at a diner the next morning bugs you out (see Pineapple Express), then imagine Phonte of "Little Brother" doing 80s cover songs. Crazy as it might sound, this is exactly what Phonte teamed up with DC based musician Zo! to do. Zo! & Tigallo Loves the 80's is an 8 track collection of some of the more recognizable pop and r&b throw back tracks of the 80s, bizarre right. only 2500 were pressed for this limited release so if your interested click over to UGHH.com and order a copy before its to late.

In my opinion, Phonte is no Ne-yo, but props to him for trying something different in an industry were chasing trends is as common as leaning back and snapping your fingers. But im not gonna front, Foreign Exchange's (phonte + nicolay) Connected was a hot album thanks to the vocals. IF anything, copping this joint is worth it for the nostalgia; how can you go wrong with Toto Africa.

And Tigallo Love the 80’s, un EP composé de 6 reprises de standards des années 80, pressé à 2500 unités (tous vendus à l’heure qu’il est) et réalisé par le chanteur Zo! et Phonte des Little Brother pour Hall of Justus.

Phonte Coleman chanteur ?

« Steppin’ Out » ça me dit quelque chose… Suivante, « Something About You », là aussi j’ai un trou…

Little Brother's Phonte is an extremely busy man right now. Here's the latest edition of "Gordron Gartrell Radio," his weekly podcast with DJ Brainchild. In this episode, Phonte uncovers two new taped conversations that have leaked in the wake of the 50 Cent/Young Buck beef, and counts down the Top 10 Greatest Lite Brites of All Time:

This project will see Phonte and Zo! recreating and adding their touch to classic 1980s pop songs. The Zo! and Tigallo Love the 80’s EP will be available in early July as a limited edition CD, with only 2,500 copies pressed. Peep the podcast and a couple of joints from the EP below.

No, there is nothing new on this post as far as music, but I felt it's only right that I speak on this upcoming project from Detroit's Zo! and Phonte (of Little Brother). Te recently spoke with DX about the project saying that it's their way of paying homage to the stuff they grew up listening too. If you aren't aware Zo! & Tigallo Love the 80's! is a project that is chalk full of covers to 80's R&B and pop songs. And to be honest, it's one of my most anticipated albums of 2008. I had the honor to preview a few tracks during our chill time in MPLS and despite me not knowing a few of the originals (since I'm a real 80's baby and was too young to remember) the music itself is amazing. Te also said they were very serious with everything, from the vocal side, to the production side, to the final mixing and mastering. And based off what I heard I can't argue that at all! Be on the lookout for a new leak from the project sometime next week (most likely on the ever-so-dope Gordon Gartrell Radio podcast). Until then, enjoy the three tracks that have been released in the past.
